You mean check the tapeS? Of all his suspendable offenses? It's pretty evident he kicked down on Karlsens leg. I'm sure he didn't intend to slice his Achilles, but he clearly meant to hurt him. The guy is a worthless piece of shit. He's intentionally injured players before and he gets no benefit of the doubt from me. I don't know how anybody could defend that guy. Even if this last incident was an accident, he's still the biggest piece of shit in the league for everything else he's done.

Ya he got away with one. Again. I also didn't see it the day of. I'm glad you like dirty players though. Are you a Pens fan or something? That's the only explanation for defending Cooke. The guy has proven time and time again he shouldn't be in the NHL. But everybody deserves a 15th chance I guess.
I have to agree with STDiva. Matt Cooke has gone out of his way to seriously injure players REPEATEDLY and THROUGHOUT his career. He's been suspended multiple times (and that doesn't even include things for which he wasn't suspended). All this talk about reformation is nonsense. Reformed... my eye. If you play a certain way for that long, then that's the kind of player you are. He shouldn't be in the NHL. He's quite possibly the most disgusting player I've ever seen.
As for the play in question, I think it's convenient for Cooke that the replay makes it look like it could've been an accident. Hockey players will tell you, however, that lifting your skate off the ice (when you're clearly balanced) and then thrusting it forward and downward onto the opposing team's best player's lower leg, is not a hockey play... not now... not ever. It's dirty and intentional. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it was an accident. But there is no way I'm giving one of the dirtiest (if not the dirtiest) players of all-time the benefit of the doubt at this point... not after 23847395873459753498567 previous incidents. There's no way in hell Cooke meant to cut Karlsson. I'm not a fan of his in any way (and yes, I take a sick pride in knowing the Senators are probably going to suck now) but I think people are forgetting that there is a huge difference between cheap checking and using a skate blade as a weapon. Cooke's a douche, but he isn't a complete idiot, and just like every player he knows that intentionally trying to cut someone with a skate would likely end in a lifetime ban and probably even legal consequences. Why would he risk, or even want, to do that?

I am not gonna quote every post that talks about this incident already, cuz it would take an hour just to reply to each quote, that said I've watched the play over and over, and I BTW (Hate Matt Cooke) and I'd NEVER want him to play for the Red Wings, I'm just saying that cuz most people who like the guy would say you'd love him if he played for your team, NO I wouldn't!!
With that being said, IMHO, Matt Cooke is a :dickhead: and he plays like a :douchebag: BUT I don't think he had any intent on hurting Karlsson, sure Cooke's knee went up and his skate was off the ice, but I don't think he was intentionally trying to cut Karlsson's leg on the play, it was just an unfortunate incident, and with Cooke's reputation of being a reckless/gutless and cheap pugilist by nature he is automatically suspected and suggested, if you will, that it was on purpose, and, IMO, if it was (on purpose, with intent) then he should be banned from the league / and or suspended indefinitely until Karlsson is cleared to play again. :yesyes:
But I'd like to think despite of his past behavior, Matt Cooke wouldn't deliberately injure and possibly permanently disable a guy by cutting him on purpose, I just don't think the intent was there, however if I am wrong, and only Matt Cooke knows the truth, then Cooke should be banished from the NHL for life. :2 cents:

So I guess the only good thing to come out of the Karlson incident is that Eric Gryba got called up. When I lived in 'Murika I met Gryba twice, and he's honestly one of the kindest and most genuine people I've ever met. PREPRE FOR THE WORST PICTURE OF ME OF ALL TIME!
He didn't intend to cut him. He intended to kick his leg to throw his balance. You can see the kicking motion downward onto the back of Karlsens heel. But what are ya going to do? I hope Melnyk brings a goon off the streets to baseball bat swing his stick across Cooke's neck. I should email Melnyk and make an offer. I'll cut his feet right off.
