So far this has been the best playoffs I have viewed in a long time. I love the fact that a majority of these games have gone into OT. Also the goaltending duel between Quick and Schneider last night was great. If Boston ever picked up Schneider can you imagine the future goalie tandem of Rask and him.

Seriously? First of all: Better than Rask and, the two-time and reigning Vezina winner, Thomas? Also, why do you need two world-class goaltenders, especially in today's NHL and so many teams going to the Red Wings model. Then of course there is the whole fact that the only reason Schneider is going to become avaliable is because there is no way a team can afford two #1s and no true #1 wants to share. I mean i would expect this kind of logic/post from a Yankees fan, but come on!

If the Canucks played like that for all their losses I wouldn't even be all that upset. Schneider just brings more confidence to them as a team. Whatever, though. They're done and next year he's going to be in a Maple Leafs jersey or something stupid like that. Fuck.

Is it safe to say Vigneault is fired this season? The GM too? He basically ruined team chemistry to add toughness on the off chance they might play Boston? Bad move.

I'd be surprised if Vigneault isn't let go. He has the same problem as Boudreau had; could make a good regular season team but doesn't have what it takes to put the team over the top. Don't know who they will replace him with, though. If only Phoenix went under and they could steal Tippett.

Even after going all the way to Game 7 in the Finals last season, if they lose to the Kings, you guys think he'd be fired?

Nikkala made me do it!
I'm thinkin Bylsma is a goner ... call me crazy!

That might be his saving grace, but that's just the problem: they were the best team in the league last year and got embarassed. And if you look past the one trip to the Finals, Vigneault's record isn't all that great. Last year was the only time the team has (and likely will if you include this year) made it past the second round. A lot of fans have been calling for his head for awhile and I think losing in what is likely one of, if not the largest playoff upset of all time is going to do him in. If he doesn't go this year, he'll be gone next year after another inevitable playoff crash.

I wonder if he'd want to coach Vancouver....

Bylsma won't be going anywhere, I think. He's simply too good of a coach. Look how the Pens played this year and last despite not having their superstar/s for most of their games. Plus, he's won a Cup, which is more than Vigneault can say. Must seem kind of hypocritical of me saying Bylsma should stay for almost the same reasons I think Vigneault should be fired, but I honestly think he's one of the better coaches in the league and the Pens know this. Anyone else they get will be a downgrade.

Absolutely true. They are in a pickle. And what's gonna end up happening is that Luongo will remain their starter next year (regardless of what happens in the playoffs) and Schneider will end up as a starter somewhere else and be a superstar goaltender (who is also vastly superior to Luongo) and Luongo will have to play 60+ games (probably close to 70) because he will probably have an inferior backup who the Canucks will not be able to turn to, which will only make him worse than he already is because he'll be overplayed. I'm not saying Luongo is a bad goaltender, but he's not a top ten NHL goaltender; he's a middle-of-the-pack talent in terms of starting goaltenders in the NHL. And he fails in big games and on the big stage (do not try to say that this isn't true because he won a gold medal at the Olympics because Team Canada won that game and that tournament despite poor goaltending (from Luongo and Brodeur)), so losing Schneider will really hurt the Canucks. I don't know what they can do though; Schneider's probably gonna get an offer sheet (because he's an RFA) that the Canucks will not be able to match (because of the issues you already mentioned).

Schneider is awesome. And he's American. Awesome.

The scoring floodgates have reopened for the Bruins.

I hope Shanahan hands down a couple suspensions today. After the way the Pens played last game they deserve to be down three guys, especially their current points leader in the playoffs.

I don't see Neal being suspended. The only issue was that he ran two people in one shift. Neither of the hits were particularly egregious. Asham, on the other hand, will be handed a lengthy suspension. But I've been forced to eat my words once already (with the Carkner suspension), so we'll see. I think their hearings are today, n'est-ce pas?

I forgot what they both actually did, but you're right that Neal probably won't get suspended since his isn't an in-person hearing with Shanahan, just a meeting with some board. However, Neal is a repeat offender so I don't think he's going to get off scott-free, especially when one of the victims of his hits was Giroux and the other was a rookie. He'll at least get a fine, but if Shanahan wants to send a message that the Pens' brand of thuggery is not going to be tolerated he might get a game. Asham is done for the playoffs, though, and I hope his suspension goes into next season as well.

And yeah, both hearings are today.

Shaw got 3 games earlier today for taking out Mike Smith (side note, how stupid does Yzerman feel for letting him walk? Just taking over Roloson's minutes he would have saved that team 49 goals allowed, and dropped their team GAA to 2.66.)

The youngest Sedin practiced today, although I heard rumors he did not get hit. Thoughts on him for Game 4? Will he play, is it a good idea?

As our past interaction with the (former) Lightning fans of this site would tell you, Smith wasn't performing in Tampa's system. He had several seasons and not once reached his potential of being "better than Luongo" as one of them put it. I think signing with the Coyotes and being able to work with their coaches and their system is what makes this Smith so different from the Smith in Tampa. Guarenteed if he had stayed there, he would not have been playing at the same level.

Florida is absolutely killing New Jersey on the power play tonight. 3-0 Devils eight minutes in and now it's 4-3 Panthers halfway through the second. Sheesh.

Maybe the fans felt he had several seasons. However, they had a brand new regime last season and he missed most of the season with a knee injury. Also, the system that Guy Boucher runs is the 1-3-1, the same system that the Devils ran when they were winning Cups. I think he would have been a lot better this year in Tampa than you'd think.

So both Florida and Jersey have pulled their starting goalies, both after giving up 3 in a row. Can anyone remember this happening in the playoffs? Especially only 3 minutes into the second!

I sure don't but how do you pull Martin Brodeur under any circumstances? The guy is amongst the all time greatest he's gotta be pissed. Panthers comeback 3 goals down, wow. We'll see what happens.

BTW the Panthers white road jerseys are the best looking in the league IMO. Blackhawks a close second.
