NHL 11 is predicting a Canucks win. Hard to argue with that. This is the first time since a Canadian team last won that the team is not going into the final as a cinderella or a underdog.

honestly i really hope that an nhl team will be able to flourish in winnipeg. there will be tons and tons of fans breaking the bank just to get tickets to the games in the first 2-3 seasons, but after that it will slowly be a demise of the winnipeg team

loll

I want another Manitoba team. I can finally cruise up that way, even though there is literally nothing you can do there in Februrary, except freeze your nuts off.

Eric Erlendsson (a Lightning reporter) says he doesn't see us bringing Simon Gagne or Eric Brewer back. mainly because of the prices they'll bring. that's unfortunate

also, Steve Yzerman said he would be interested in bringing both Dwayne Roloson and Mike Smith back. guess we'll see what happens

I wonder how long it will take for Manitobans to get their giant egos back...

They're gonna be the Jets right? Not something gay like Wild, Lightning or something weird like Animale or Cattlemans Whiskers.

That's a good question. I think Jets is likely protected, though - the franchise still exists, even if it is currently under a different name.

I think they should be called the Winnipeg "Thanks Be Praised Canada Got Another Team."

The Jets name can probably be bought from whoever owns it, which is hard to say as I've heard everything from the Coyotes owning it to the NHL owning it. The NHL owning it makes sense as they've been releasing Jets merchandise for awhile now.

From what I've heard the owners of the Winnipeg team wanted to start fresh with a new name but honestly, everybody is calling the team the Jets so at this point you just might as well get it over with and make it official.

The NHL owns the Jets name and at the press conference Bettman said they would let them name the team that if the owners asked. I can't see TNSE naming it anything else since all the fans who are celebrating are wearing Jets jerseys, but I've heard they are considering naming the team the Manitoba Moose because they've built that brand up and the Jets technically still exist. I'd like to see the team named the moose. The fans should just be happy they got a team.

Realignment is going to take a lot of negotiations so they'll probably do it next year. Quite a few teams will be on the move and the league needs to decide who needs to move to the East. Columbus, Nashville and Detroit all will make cases. Its going to be a bitch for travel costs for gthe southwest, though. Washington will be fine but every other team is going to be hurting.

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
Sources tell TSN Colin Campbell is giving up role as NHL disciplinarian. Brendan Shanahan will take over.

If this is true I think I might start to get giddy.. A REAL POWER FORWARD in his playing days (Brendan Shanahan) would drop the gloves and take care of his business whenever he needed too, whether it was an injustice against him or one of his teammates.. :nanner::horse:

I think we are getting a step closer to abolishing the instigator rule and seeing what a real TEAM SHERRIF is in the NHL and what he brings to the ICE / GAME night in and night out in regards to protecting elite players and eliminating wussies like Matt Cooke from targeting guys and not paying the price immediately after he has a brainfart on the ICE before being ejected and or protected by the REFS and there harsh infractions against other guys who get suspended just for protecting or revenging there teammates when somebody commits a moronic act on the ice... :elaugh:

The Instigator rule allows and protects players like Matt Cooke and gives them the chance to seriously injure players without fear of immediate retaliation or serious consequence on the ice... I think SHANNY will take strides to restore the NHL justice the way its supposed to be handled, on the ice 1st then disciplinary action if any afterwards.
:2 cents:

No I hear Gary Busey is going to name the team and call them the Sperm Farmers.

One period down, no score. Who looked stronger?
I think it was a wash. And Vancouver, strongest team in the regular season, at home in the final round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, should be shining like crazy.

I'm a bit worried...

Bruins played well, but they have to stay out of the box. Loved seeing two Canucks sizing up Chara, for at least the second time in the period. Burrows and Bergeron should get 2 each. My pick to click is Marchand of the Bruins. Horton is second pick

You're totally right about Chara - do you think they've had a little pep talk about making him a non-issue?
