The Winter Classic should be set for today, weather wise up in Boston it is not bad.

THAT was a great Winter Classic.

ok NHL, Tampa at Anaheim at the Rose Bowl next year ;)

Next year it will finally be the Islanders and Rangers at Yankee Stadium, followed by the Flames and Oilers at McMahon Stadium.

My noodle. :hatsoff:

Well I think you would be wrong, sir.

In other news: so no Scott Gomez on the USA squad either. I don't know, I liked the last team with all the vets: Hull, Modano, Tkachuk, Roenick, Schneider, Hatcher. I guess they were turning into a bunch of dinosaurs though.

Nevertheless, is there anything more competitive or fun to watch than Olympic hockey? :dunno: I don't think so...:hatsoff:

Team USa looks pretty good. I am a little upset that Alex Gogo did not make it but the team looks pretty solid. I think Thomas is going to get the start in net for the Yanks. How good does our D look Ryan Suter, Brian Rafalski, Paul Martian, Jack Johnson, Erik Johnson, Brooks Orpik and Mike Komisarek. Looks like we are going to be physical on D this Olympics.

Olympic hockey is easily the highlight of the Winter Games and I can;t wait till the games start. It is actually the ONLY Olympic sport that I will watch every game.

It is the most competitive hockey you will ever see. These guys already have the millions; the gold for your own country is where it's at. :hatsoff:

USA is an intruiging team and i have to admit there are a bunch of guys I am not too familiar with because I don't have the DirecTV package anymore and have been so busy lately with school and work.

Still, every damn team is a contender like they have been since the pros started playing back in the '90s.

I like the fact that we went with youth and speed, ever team looks stacked and it's going to be very tough to win gold this year. If you think playoff hockey is tough, wait till you see the Olympics. Nothing like playing for your country.

Trust me I watched damn near every game last two olympics. I wouldn't miss it for the world. One thing's for sure - if the US wins it it would be the Miracle part two. :)

Yeah they are no joke. Any word on Slovokia yet? Chara, Gaborik, Hossa, Demitra, Satan. They are gonna be no joke either.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/126346-2010-olympic-hockey-outlook-team-slovakia

Projected starting line up
LW Gaborik
C Pavel Demitra
RW Hossa:thefinger
D Chara
D Meszaros
G Halak

Their first line is amazing and will have to carry them for all the reports I have read as the rest of there line are OLD.

There D looks good with Chara as the imposing figure that he is.

Their goalies are all NHL backups and are fighting for the starting job

mark my words: every goal scored by Ryan Malone in the olympics will come from within 10 feet in front of the net :)

I think there are only five contenders: Canada, Russia, Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic. Every other team has an outside chance, and I'll be bold enough to say that the Czechs aren't as much of a sure thing as the first four.

I wanna see Lightening v Panthers on the fricken beach at South Beach:glugglug: There should be some companies take up the challenge of having the Winter Classic in a technologically challenging environment like the beach....that would be a feat of ingenuity and technical skill

But, before that, let's have Rangers v Islanders at Yankee Stadium? Or Rangers v Devils @ Shea?

Vancouver v Edmonton out on an anchored barge floating on the ocean??

Will Canada get the next Winter Classic?

Will Canada get the next Winter Classic?

There is plans for next year to have a second outside game in Canada, but they havent said if it will be on New Years Day or on CBC's Hockey Day in Canada. I think the latter might be a bit better in terms of weather. All signs point to the game being held in Calgary, and I wouldn't want to be outside on January there.

I can't see an actual Winter Classic being held in Canada. The idea is to get the league ratings and exposure in the States, and a Canadian team is not going to do anything for either.
