Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker!
Patrick Kane is no longer being charged with a felony after his taxi incident with his cousin - he would most likely face some hefty fines, probation and/or community service.

Tampa will have an exhibition game against their AHL affiliate team, the Norfolk Admirals on September 25. maybe one last chance to see if there's anybody on the Admirals who should be on the Lightning?

I think there is only two guys on that team that have a legitimate chance of making the big club , Dana Tyrell and Steve Downie because they both have a lot of potential to become good players in the NHL.

I don't want a whinny bitch like him in Tampa ! He wouldn't fit with the teams' new slogan "Together we will" , I don't he knows the concept of team and being a team player.

Fuck Heatley. I rarely curse, but he deserves it. I do live in Edmonton and I am an Oilers fan, but I honestly think I'd be saying the same thing even if he had done the same thing with the Flames. How can a guy REQUEST A TRADE and then when the team makes a trade happen EXERCISE HIS NO-TRADE CLAUSE?????? I think that if a player REQUESTS a trade that should completely void his no-trade clause. Utter ridiculosity (not a word, I know).

a cryptic message from the Lightning insider Jon Jordan's twitter page:

posted 5 minutes ago "A clue on what I referenced earlier: Conflicting sources prevent a scoop right now but your wait appears almost over."

probably means Tanguay will be a Bolt soon.

There could be a new French Connection in the works, as RDS is reporting that the Tampa Bay Lightning have agreed to terms of a contract with Alex Tanguay pending a physical. Terms of the deal were not released.

The two sides have reportedly been in negotiation since July, but it was not until two weeks ago when Tanguay was contacted by Lightning stars Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis that he decided to join the Bolts.

The Ste-Justine, Quebec native spent a solitary season with the Canadiens after being acquired along with a 5th round pick from the Calgary Flames for a 1st and a 2nd round pick. He suffered through an injury-plagued campaign in his native province, missing 28 games with a separated shoulder. He did manage 16 goals and 25 assists in 50 games.

After spending his first six seasons with the Colorado Avalanche, helping the team capture the Stanley Cup in 2001, the 29-year old has bounced around over the past three years. His two-year tenure in Calgary was marked with disagreements with then-head coach Mike Keenan over playing style.

When freed of defensive shackles, the smooth skating Tanguay is a point-a-game type producer who could flourish with a change of scenery, specifically with the offensive weapons around him that the Lightning possess in Lecavalier, St. Louis, Steven Stamkos and Ryan Malone.

In 659 career games, Tanguay has 193 goals and 387 assists. He was originally chosen 12th overall by the Avalanche in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

I was really happy when I saw that on TSN. He made a great choice , he's going to have a very good season alongside Vinny and Tampa is rumored to have paid only in the low 2 millions. So great deal for the team. The Lightning are going to be much better than what some so called experts are predicting.

sweet! although i doubt there will be a French Connection II. Tanguay will probably be a winger for Lecavalier and St. Louis worked well on a line with Malone and Stamkos

another reason to like the Lightning. they are one classy organization:

The Tampa Bay Lightning’s Fan Fest 2009, presented by Embassy Suites Downtown, was a great success on two fronts Saturday afternoon. First, Lightning fans got the chance to meet, greet, photograph and watch several of the team’s new players, including Mattias Ohlund, Matt Walker, Victor Hedman and Antero Nittymaki. They combined with Martin St. Louis, Steven Stamkos, Ryan Malone, Jeff Halpern, Adam Hall, Mike Smith and Andrej Meszaros to create some unforgettable experiences for fans throughout the day. Highlights included the Metro PCS Phone a Friend location where fans got the chance to surprise their friends and loved ones with a phone call from their favorite players.

Lightning fans also gobbled up used hockey equipment at the team’s “Gearage” sale on the plaza, had the chance to record their own play-by-play in the 620 WDAE You Make the Call booth and season ticket holders were entertained by General Manager Brian Lawton and goaltenders Mike Smith and Antero Nittymaki in an exclusive question and answer session.

But the highlight of the day was the team’s charity game, held in honor of fallen Tampa Police Department Corporal Mike Roberts. The Lightning players took to the ice with alums Dave Andreychuk, Brian Bradley, Chris Dingman, Pat Jablonski and Stan Neckar, along with assistant coach Wes Walz, Lightning locker room staffers and eight of the TPD’s finest men in blue to entertain 9,112 fans in attendance at Fan Fest 2009. The game served as a fundraiser for Roberts’s wife, Cindy, and three-year old son, Adam, who lost his father nearly two weeks ago as he worked to keep the streets of Tampa safe.

Team Navy won the game in a shootout, 6-5, but it wasn’t the final score that mattered to anyone in the building, it was the newfound spirit and comraderie developed between the Lightning players and the officers that played on Cpl. Roberts’ recreational hockey team. Born in the bay area, but raised in Newfoundland, Roberts became a goaltender for the department’s hockey team and followed the Lightning closely in addition to earning himself a reputation as one of the top officers in the police department.

“It’s incredible, this would mean the world to him," Detective Mike Hutner told the Tampa Tribune after playing in the game. “It’s definitely sad and we will miss him, but its more about what this team did for his family.”

All players in the game wore number 12 in honor of Roberts along with a patch, etched with the words “Let Them Never Be Forgotten.” The jerseys were auctioned off and several thousand dollars were raised. One anonymous fan bought the jersey worn by Chris Dingman and donated it to the Roberts’ family. All the players in the game signed the jersey and it was personally presented by the former Stanley Cup champion to Cindy in the locker room after the game.

The presentation made for a fitting finale to a great day for Lightning fans, players, police officers and the entire Tampa Bay community as they all came together to celebrate one of Tampa’s heroes and the start of a new hockey season.
