NFL '26 Season Thread

Well, I guess now is as good a time as any to start one of these.

Congratulations to the Seattle Seahawks. They look setup to be good for a while.

We already have things to talk about:

The annual QB carousel should be interesting and many veteran signal callers will be in new homes (Kyler Murray, Tua Tagovailoa, Malik Willis, Kirk Cousins?)

What about Daniel Jones coming off a torn Achilles but having played very well prior to injury? What will his contract look like?

Who will be franchise tagged? Who will hold out after being franchise tagged?

Is this the year that Commissioner Roger Goodell is not booed at the Draft? Seems unlikely.

Free agency starts next month. The Draft is after that. Before you know it training camps will start and NFL football will be back. NFL '26 Season Thread starts now.

Everybody seems to believe Max Crosby will be traded. He doesn't want to be in Las Vegas.

Veteran Edge Bradley Chubb is being released by the Miami Dolphins. Carolina needs help with their pass rush. Chubb attended college at NC State University and briefly worked with with Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero during their time in Denver in 2022 prior to Chubb being traded to Miami. Worth looking into.

Dolphins released WR Tyreek Hill.

Hill is one of several Dolphins players who have been informed of their release. The soon-to-be 32-year-old receiver saw his 2025 season come to an end in Week 4 when he suffered a dislocated knee and torn ACL against the Jets, but put together a respectable 21-265-1 line before going down. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero notes “it’s unclear when or if” Hill will play next season, but if he does, Hill will be a free agent for the first time in his career. The eight-time Pro Bowler should have plenty of suitors once he can prove he’s fully recovered from his injury.

I said I wanted to post here while high.

Sometimes I think about kickoff or punt returns in which the kicker or punter attempts to make a play on the returner with often comical results. This is as close as we can get to what it would be like for normal people but would be even worse.

Posting while high is a regular Sunday, especially while watching NFL football.

Franchise tags have been given out:
Kyle Pitts, TE, Atlanta
Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets
George Pickens, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Transition tag:
Daniel Jones, QB, Indianapolis Colts

Notably absent from the list:
Trey Hendrickson, Edge, Cincinnati Bengals
Devin Lloyd, LB, Jacksonville Jaguars (would be fun to see him in Carolina but I'm not hopeful)

Also - Arizona has released Kyler Murray.

DJ Moore is being traded to Buffalo. I enjoyed watching DJ Moore in Carolina. I hope is is successful with the Bills.

Trade in place to send Maxx Crosby to the Ravens for 2026 and 2027 1st round picks. Las Vegas will have the 1st and 14th picks in upcoming draft.

The legal tampering period (de facto start of free agency) is here and we are starting to hear about the deals in place:

Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III is signing with Kansas City.

Alec Pierce is staying in Indianapolis on a $116 million deal.

Travis Kelce will be back next year.

Green Bay has traded Rashan Gary to Dallas.

Atlanta is reportedly interested in Tua Tagovailoa after his release from the Dolphins.

Miami trades Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Jets

Carolina has agreed to a 4 year $120 million contract with Jaelan Philips. One of the top available edge rushers - very nice though very expensive but that's the market.

Mike Evans is signing with the 49ers (will be nice not seeing him twice a year)

Malik Willis is signing with the Dolphins to be the starter there.

Commanders sign Odafe Oweh.

Devin Lloyd, generally regarded as the top off-ball linebacker available, signs with Carolina.

I like this signing - top talent at one of their biggest needs.

It is being reported that the Ravens are "backing out" of the Maxx Crosby trade.

Edit: He failed his physical. Las Vegas is very likely to still trade him but no way they get two first round picks next time.
