NFL '14 Season Thread

It will be interesting to see what additions they will make during the off-season. I believe the 49ers can do with another wide receiver, as well as a few for there defensive secondary maybe a cornerback and a safety. But I would concentrate more on offense, maybe another tight end like Jimmy Graham, and an explosive receiver.

I always thought The 49ers should add another edge pass rusher &/ or a cover corner. When Aldon & Justin Smith don't get pressure, QB's just sit back & pick holes in the zone. Offensively, I would like to see some changes to the passing game, such as throwing to the RB's on screens. I bet the Niners didn't throw a screen (or run a draw for that matter) hardly all year.

When they choke like he does.

Cant choke in the big game if you cant make it back. Brees is just Peyton lite. Huge regular seasons, weak playoff resume. Can't win in certain stadiums, etc.

When the 9ers drafted LaMichael James I thought they would open up the playbook with some screens but no dice. I think Greg Roman will be gone. As good as the 9ers have been, their red zone offense has left a lot to be desired. Lattimore seems to be ready to go next season. That's a loaded backfield. Too loaded. You can do a lot more with these guys than just power schemes.

I'd like to see them move up and get that DB Denard from MSU. When plays break down, our guys cant cover anybody. Reid will be a ballhawk, but a blanket DB has to be a priority.

Hopefully Boldin stays, but I doubt it. That'll leave another big whole at WR. Patton isnt ready to fill that spot yet and I'm not really sure who is available via free agency.

San Fran beats Denver in Super Bowl 49. It's destiny.

I have to agree that Brees doesn't play very well on the road/outdoors.

I see you're a true Niner fan too. I thought we would use James the way NO uses Darren Sproles (after seeing how we couldn't cover him in the playoff game prior to the first of the 3 NFC championships when A. Smith led us from the come-from-behind-win): as a 3rd down back out of back field & a change of pace back. I think Roman's playbook is TOO BIG! We have a good OFF line, a good QB, good receivers & TE,& lots of different RB's. Which is why we should be GREAT in the red zone, but in the 3 years Harbaugh & Roman have been in SF, they've had to have kicked more FG's than anybody else in the league!

(I'm still pissed from 2nd & goal at the 5, BALT huffing & puffing from the zone read & SF calls 3 straight passes to Crabtree...WTF?)

Hey, I got a question to the NFL cracks here. How and when is the schedule being determined? I just saw an interview with John Elway and the press asked him how he feels about playing the NFC West next year. How do they know that already?
I never asked myself how the schedule is being planned. I always thought it's kinda random except for the division rivals. But now I noticed the AFC West f.e. played the NFC East this year and the NFC South the year before.

So is this always being alternated? Each AFC division has to play a different NFC division each year?

I never noticed. :o

That's correct, it's always on a regular rotation. Also, the rest of your in-conference schedule is determined by your record. So, theoretically, the Seahawks should have one of the most difficult schedules next season because they'll be playing the other NFC division winners like the Panthers, Eagles and Packers.

Should start by finding a QB.......

They have the best front 7 in football. In the salary cap NFL the glaring weakness is the secondary but of course i hope they devolve instead of evolve.....

NFC West is tough as nails and only seeming to get better.

With Green Bay finding a RB if they can just improve slightly on the D they could be extremely tough next year.

My Rams are in the toughest division in football but are getting better with every draft. Sam Bradford still remains the biggest question mark. If he can stay healthy and we assemble enough weapons around him....well, we have the best D-line in the NFL. Gregg Williams is now our DC so I would guess we'll fill in some holes at OLB and in the secondary (especially FS) and I predict that very shortly you will see the Rams once again be in the playoffs with a dominant defense and a ball-control offense. Les Snead and Jeff Fisher are doing a tremendous job. Just you wait.
