NFL '11 Season Thread

I know we won't resign willis, but I hope we resign mason... I guess I wouldn't mind seeing heap resigned, but I think Ed Dickson will be good... And I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Gregg retire...

But, I am surprised that we really haven't been talking to a lot of free agents... We've already lost Wilson.. Hopefully we can keep Carr

Well the Ravens are wating to see who we can sign, the Steelers and Colts are signing anybody yet but it good to wait until.

My Bears traded Greg Olsen to Carolina for a player to be named and a draft pick. What the fuck are the Bears doing? They just lost another offensive weapon. They have an average corp of WRs and now no tight end. They passed on all the top free agent WRs although now there are reports that they're pursuing Roy Williams. If I'm Cutler I'm pissed right now.

and, greg oleson is a big loss for the bears i agree, but theres still a decent amonut of capable free agent WR's u guys can get. I believe aromashadu left or was cut from ur team, but Mike Sims Walker, Malcolm Floyd, Braylon Edwards, Steve Smith? (carolina- not likely leaving), and the list goes on. But idc who y'all get, ur not winning ur division, ur not beating the eagles, ur not making the playoffs. :p

One of my best friends is a huge Bears fan and he is pissed about the Olsen trade! He mentioned something earlier about it. I do feel bad about the deal myself but not too bad since I'm a Packer fan, he and I have had some pretty fun and crazy Sundays over the years! lol

As a Greg Olsen fan, I think this is great for him... The bears weren't using him to the best of his abilities.. Cam Newton is going to make him one of the best tight ends in the league...

Martin Mayhew wants to build the Cats into contenders via the free agency market. Somebody tell him that is often a short-term solution.

Yeah, unless the Bears know something nobody else does, I can't really understand this move either. This is a big head scratcher to me.

It's not like they are loaded at receiver, have a bunch or new up and coming guys that look to pan out really well at tight end. He was one of their better receiving threats on the team that Cutler need for the way he operates. (The fact that Cutler usually needs somebody competent to get the ball out quick with that offensive line just makes it that much worse.) They better hope that draft pick they get for him really works out in the future, and even then it's not going to help them this year.

The problem is that the Bears believe their WR corp is just fine. I don't know what they see in this group of average wideouts that would make them say that.

i know what u mean. the Eagles think the opposite of their D-Line its annoying. Theyre all pretty good-very good and only need some coaching. The real problem is the LB's and DB's but ik they will address accordingly. We need a big name LB or for Jamar Chaney to become a stud if that group of LB's is gonna perform

If Cutler wasn't sacked 50 times last year, your WR's would look a lot better. That's the problem. I don't understand shipping Olsen though.

Saints replace Bush with Darren Sproles. Green Bay and Philly are gonna have some competition in the NFC in New Orleans:

I'm calling NO vs NE Super Bowl right now.

The Bears offense is coached by Mike Martz who hates TE's so this move doesn't surprise me at all.
Carolina is spending money to get to the salary cap floor as required by the new CBA they where so far below it last year that they have money to spend and don't seem to care whether is good money or not.
New Orleans is better but so are the top NFC teams, they are playoff contenders for sure.

Good luck with DRC, he makes some spectacular plays then gets his burned the next play.

Don't look now but the Texans D just got a whole lot better with the addition of CB Johnathan Joseph and S Daniel Manning. Rumors had them being in the mix for Nnamdi Asomugha but this option might make more sense for a team that needs big-time help in the secondary at both CB and Safety. We'll see if the defense can improve to the point where this team finally becomes a legitimate contender under the guidance of Wade Phillips and the institution of a 3-4 defense that will feature Mario Williams as an OLB. Should be interesting.

Im predicting after its all said and done. PHI v NE. There are a bunch of other teams that I think will be great this year but i feel a rematch of the '05 superbowl is necessary and the birds will redeem themselves this time !

I wasn't surprised by the Olsen trade because Martz's system calls for big blocking TE's and Greg Olsen just didn't fit that mold as receiving TE. Under his system, he runs alot of 4-5 receiver sets so it's important to have the TE in as an extra blocker.
