NFL '11 Season Thread

People seem to forget that Denver's D is actually playing good as well. But Tebow lovers will give Tebow all the credit. I'm still not convinced.

Whats changed things for Denver most is Tim Tebow. The danger of him running makes defenses play them differently than they played Kyle Orton. I dont think the defense is playing that much better, they played really bad against Detroit, KC is inept on offense, Anyone can play good defense against Miami and the Raiders did manage to score plenty of points on them. The Broncos are not a playoff team and they are still a few years off from that, but theyre making little improvements here and there that will add up with the coming years.

I'm not gonna go at you for thinking Tebow isn't any good, but even you have to admit that Tim Tebow has done absolutely nothing but knock down his haters and their bets on his demise like bowling pins. Screw how many passes he completed... he completed THE PASS to win the damn game. Something that Cam Newton cannot seem to do with 25 and 30 completions. See, you guys are looking at numbers...

Tim Tebow is looking at his watch. It's his time. Love it or hate it.

I agree that he can be a playmaker, he's a good athlete I just don't think he's suited as an NFL QB that's all. Let's see what he does against a good defense, see how he does when the game is on the line and he needs to make that final drive to win the game by passing against a good team, not the Chefs or Dolphins!

Houston Texans, Baby!!! Are they for real??? I hope so. They should have won against the Ravens and them Raiders this past year, but they playing good now. The only team I'm worried about is the Falcons and themselves :/ They have to want it...

Do Andy Reid and Norv Turner get fired this year?? Both teams are under performing for their coaches, and some lucky team will be happy to have either of those guys next year.

Is Denver going to deal Orton now? His asking price was fairly high at the beginning of the season.

Who's going to win offensive rookie of the year? A.J Green? Cam Netwon? Andy Dalton? Julio Jones? Patrick Peterson? Does he count, even though he's a CB?

...by what definition and standard is he not suitable? Just because he doesn't do exactly what every other QB does? Does that define a quarterback? Maybe other QB's should develop more of Tebow's qualities than Tebow developing other QB's qualities, because there are quite a few QB's that can boast as many wins, game winning drives, and touchdowns (both running and passing) Tim Tebow can. It's hard to see the big picture with analysts and haters in the way. While people are telling us what he should be, he is redefining this whole thing. When you think you have the answers... he is constantly changing the questions, and the experts and opponents still have yet to consistently stop him.

Consider this: As a full-time starter, he has yet to find out what a losing streak feels like. His football life in a nutshell.

I hope Norv gets fired, i hated his hiring, he has never converted me into a fan of his. He is just not cut out to be an NFL coach, he is brilliant as a coordinator, but as a coach he is as uninspiring as coaches get.

I'm told Schaub is out for the season? If this is true, the Texans are cursed. Manning finally takes a season off and Houston loses their best players, (Williams, Foster, Johnson, Schaub) for considerable time. It's a shame.

Here come the titans to take first place.

That sucks raven, they are playing down to their competition once again

I've finally reached the point where I just don't care as much anymore. If we win, I'll be excited and all smilies. It we lose, that's just a better chance cam Cameron gets fired. Yelling isn't going to do anything. Might as well sit back and watch.

Very pleased at the way my Broncos are playing so far. I do agree, Tebow is influencing the run game. The QB run threat is really making it hard for defenses to defend. But the Broncos are going to have to be able to throw the ball if they're ever going to be taken seriously.

:2 cents:

Strong delusion there. There's a big difference between winning because of somebody and winning despite somebody (and even then against teams that aren't that good). Tebow belongs in the latter. There is a reason other quarterbacks don't do what Tebow does...because it's not a successful formula for winning in the NFL, and won't be short of the NFL going back to the way rules were in the 40s.

Offenses win by scoring a lot. There is no other way to spin it than that. Teams score a lot in the modern NFL especially in the last 15 years by slinging the ball all over the place a lot and successfully. Everything else is an uphill battle.

If I have to pick between analysis, proof, and numbers and between anecdotal beliefs in somebody's gumption and magical ability to make his team better through osmosis I'm going with the former.
