Manning folding up his tent again?

My Bears are playing a hell of a game against the Eagles. Cutler just threw his third TD and the defense is all over Vick and they're doing it by only rushing four lineman. The Bears might be able to pull off an upset, go Bears!

I think I'm sold on the Bears. Or at least as close as I can be with any NFC team other than Atlanta. No one in that conference, aside from the Falcons, really does it for me.

Gus Johnson on the Dolphins/Raider game. He is the best....

No doubt. And he's even better doing NCAA basketball.

San Diego might go 11-5. They look scary. And the Raiders were bad against the Dolphins. The score doesn't give it justice. It coulda been worse, if it weren't for the kickoff return TD and all the FGs Miami had to settle for.

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
Wow, Colts are nobody. Loss is squarely on Peyton and the big boys up front. If there's anything positive to take out of this week it's that the Jaguars lost as well. That means the AFC South is still wide open. But we have some serious issues to fix on this team. Without a running game we aren't going anywhere.

So that means that this week the Colts, Purdue football, and Purdue basketball teams all lost and the Irish won. It really could not have gone any worse.

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
the Colts O-Line is porous, at best. Can't throw when you don't have time. The Chargers D-Line can pin back the ears and rush cuz the Colts have no running game.

Peyton can't make chicken salad out of that offense. they are .500 for a reason this year. And yet, they are still in first place.

That division needs to send "Thank you" cards to the NFC West

:dunno:It's a sign, you could repent now.

Understand what YOU are saying ,but many are claiming he was a 'poor' NFL QB(borderline bust) & they claim they have the numbers to prove it.
I think you are a Broncos fan? I am A San Diego Chargers fan & I don't need some stat geeks breaking down Elways numbers in his 1st ten seasons (which were worse than Vicks 1st 4 in ATL) nor telling me Elway was not a good QB.

Elway( And early Steve Young) 'statistically' was worse than ATL Vick. John Elway was a INTERCEPTION waiting to happen compared to Vick who has taken relatively good care of the football throughout his career.

Elway 1st 10 seasons completion pct% goes like this: 47%,56%,54%,55%,54%,55%,53%,58%,53% & 55%.
Compared to Vick who was 54%,56%,55%,52%( plus 62% now in his 5th 'full' season) And Vick's Completeion pct is a problem:dunno:

Elway's passer rating 1st 10 seasons was roughly 72 while Vick was 75 in Atlanta:dunno:

Elway threw 158 TDs to 157 INT's(15 td's versus 15 int's per season)
Vick threw 72 td's versus 52 int's(roughly 18 td's to 13 int's)

So Vick in his 1st 4 seasons had comparable completion pct to Elway, Better passer rating AND better TD to INT ratio.:dunno:

If the stat geeks had not watched him & nitpicked his numbers like we do today Elway would be a 'relative' failure/below average QB.

In ONLY 4 seasons Vick was 2-2 in the playoffs & got the 'perennial' loser, & one of the Leagues worst franchises, Falcons to an NFC Championship game & Divisional Playoff(all before 25).

Vick's importance went beyond the bare numbers.

Cherry-picking stats is always a terrible idea. The terrible seasons Elway and Young had also saw them behind center for some of the worst offensive lines in the game. Despite that, both had decent to above average DYAR ratings.

Vick was a poor Quarterback. His ability to throw was always what's been in question. I said from day one his ability to be competent was based solely on two things: how good his offensive line is, and how good his receivers are. If you look at his past numbers, (QB rating by the way is an absolute joke, and shouldn't be taken seriously at all) the years in which his offensive line was in the top 5 in DYAR, he was superb, especially when factoring in his ability to run. When they weren't, neither was he, which points to his strength simply being running. His receiving core hasn't improved more than two spots with him under center (DYAR-wise), which again points to him not being a good quarterback. I never said he was a bust, I simply said he was a poor quarterback, and the most important skill to a quarterback is his ability to complete passes, something he struggles with if his team lacks a top notch O-Line and receiving core.

Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan ejected for fight (about time someone smacked that little weasel Finnegan):

Reports are coming out that AJ won't be suspended. How the hell do you throw three haymakers to a guy with his helmet off and not get suspended? I guess if you get into a fight at a bar (Maurice Purify) or with your girlfriend (Tony McDaniel) you get suspended but not for fight on the field in front of millions of people?

1st time offenders shouldn't be suspended and as far as I know, Andre Johnson has been an upstanding employee of the NFL.

Derek Anderson goes off on reporter after questioned on why he was laughing on sideline while Cardinals were losing:

Who the fuck cares if he had a quick laugh. For all we now, that was the extent of his laughing. Sure, he should be pissed off, but if the lineman happened to say something funny, he is allowed to laugh. And it is not that reporter's nor anyone else's business what they were talking about.

Gore done for the season with a fractured hip. And yet the 49ers could still win the NFC West.

Run, don't walk to pick up Westbrook for your fantasy teams.

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

D-Rock you don't miss a trick do you?? Wow...your Bears just beat one of the hottest teams in the NFC...pretty convincingly IMO, you have the Lions coming up...what on earth can you possibly be uptight about now???:1orglaugh

Like I said D-R...you could find a flaw in a Rembrandt.:o

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they won. I don't even think they are a bad team, but for having an 8-3 record now and probably a good record when the season is over they might be somewhere around the top 15th best team this year. I'm sure there have been worse teams with records like that in the history of the NFL, but none of them come to mind at the moment.

As far as one team winning against another goes what needs to be kept in mind, especially in football, is that specific match ups and schemes mean a lot(let taking into account the Any Given Sunday effect that can always happen) and can play a big part of the game, even if other things being equal where the quality of the teams would indicate some other result out of context. It's possible the Bears just had an above average game, the Eagles had a below average one, the Bears were just one of the few teams that matched up with Philadelphia very well and exploited it, or some combination of those things.

hmmm im hoping bears or packers for the nfc and jets or chargers for afc
