I could be wrong but I don't think too many people, Laker fans included, ever claimed Kobe was MJ's equal.
Personally I think Kobe's skill set is close to equal, but MJ's leadership & ability to elevate a team were superior.

I hope Dallas wins it all now. Nowitzki being such a nice guy and perennial all star, Kidd seems cool and Terry as well. I can say personally Corey Brewer is cool because I met him once. it's a shame they unloaded Nash back ago because I've always been a fan.

The only people comparing Kobe to MJ are the people who try to use it against him like it's some huge insult to say he'll never be as good as MJ. No **** he won't. Hey Kobe!! You'll never be as great as the greatest of all time!! Your career achievements mean nothing!!!! MJ is MJ. Kobe is Kobe.
That said, I'll save the rest of my Laker rants for the offseason. There's still a ton of basketball left to play. I'm hoping for a Chicago/OKC Finals now.
