I hate the Lakers. I hate them with a passion, but even I feel shitty for Laker fans for having to put up with that 7ft. I could be wrong but I don't think too many people, Laker fans included, ever claimed Kobe was MJ's equal.
Personally I think Kobe's skill set is close to equal, but MJ's leadership & ability to elevate a team were superior.

The only people comparing Kobe to MJ are the people who try to use it against him like it's some huge insult to say he'll never be as good as MJ. No shit he won't. Hey Kobe!! You'll never be as great as the greatest of all time!! Your career achievements mean nothing!!!! MJ is MJ. Kobe is Kobe.
That said, I'll save the rest of my Laker rants for the offseason. There's still a ton of basketball left to play. I'm hoping for a Chicago/OKC Finals now.
