NBA 10'/11' Thread.
The comparisons are natural. After watching Kobe's potential in his 2nd pro season I told a few friends (Laker/Shaq fans) that he was going to be one of the greatest players to ever play the game. To that they laughed at the time. They don't laugh about that anymore.
As far as comparing the two...it's simple, MJ was great but he is history. KB is great too but he is still writing his history.
No matter what happens with Kobe's career accomplishments I don't know if he or anyone can ever surpass the influential mark on the game and culture that MJ did.
The guy has been retired for years now and people STILL form lines in anticipation of Nike releasing a new pair of his shoes (for example).
JN is an elitist courside flunky who's likely never shot a b-ball in his life. That said, I don't have a problem with him entirely, but the way he tries to act like he's the ultimate authority on basketball on the sidelines so often really makes me wanna hurl. Same with the rest of those fuckin' bandwaggoner Hollywood pukes. :nono:

But they eat that shit up. "Oh, I've got courtside seats to the Lakers, look at me." No doubt If/when I am famous and rich I will have an NHL suite, but fuck, I've played every goddamn sport you can play and by no means am I uncoordinated. I just find it hard to believe even half these Hollywooders have even thrown anything round at all.
For me it's one thing if you have game and know the game, but nah, the celebrities at all these courtside seats bore me.

Scott - Nicholson's pretty cool. Yeah he can get demonstrative but he also gets on well with a lot of rival players and coaches.

I'm not surprised. The entire season the team looked like they were waiting for it to be over.
I agree with Magic Johnson in that this Laker's team has been together for too long and that they(management) need to blow this team up and rebuild. I'd start by going after Dwight Howard and purging this team of some of the old guys like Lamar Odom and Derek Fisher.
The Bulls will win in six. I have them splitting the two games in ATL and winning the next two to win the series.

First the Spurs, now the Lakers, Boston is in trouble....i think what this years playoff is showing is that Phil Jackson is getting out at the right time with the youth movement now starting to take power in the NBA, OK City and Memphis are two of the up and comers, the Bulls came to life this year the way many thought they would 5 years ago, Dallas is a veteran team that has too much experience with failure the last 5 years. I thought at the beginning of the season that even if the Lakers won a 3rd straight title they were going to have to get younger, possibly trading one of the big guys cause the young teams were starting to make noise last season, this season were seeing those young teams and their full potential

The Fakers should pick up Rambis to replace Jackson when the Wolves finally give him the boot. I understand he is almost identical to Phil. Though I hear they will give the job to Shaw.
