...never be another Kobe.
Nah, never be another Jordan, Bird and Johnson - the three greatest in history - noted in ESPN's greatest 50 of the last century. Yeah, you could put Russel, Chamberlin and Abdul Jabaar on that list right behind the aforementioned.
Kobe will knock some of those guys out of the top 10 when it's all said and done. Id put Kareem ahead of Magic and Bird. And Russell is not top 10 IMO.
Why would putting Kareem ahead of Magic make me a homer?
It ain't my list. It's ESPN's list.
Whaaaaat? Jerry West ain't even the 2nd greatest Laker and you have him 3rd.
1. Jordan
2. Kareem
3. Robertson
4. Magic
5. Bird
6. Kobe
7. Chamberlain
8. Duncan
9. Olajuwan
10. Shaq
I can't agree with top 10 greatest NBA lists that include guys who have zero championships (Malone), just as I can't agree with top 10 greatest NBA lists that omit guys who have 11 rings (Russell). The total number of rings isn't the defining factor for ranking players, but it's akin to putting Dan Marino as a top 10 all time player, or leaving Marciano out of the top 10 all time heavyweights.
1. Jordan
2. Magic
3. Robertson
4. Russell
5. Chamberlain
6. Bird
7. Kareem
