Mortal Kombat (finally done right!?)

My game froze in Story Mode when Raiden fights Scorpion!:wtf:
Has this happened to anyone else?

I guess it was just a PS3 freeze, because it didn't happen again.:dunno:
One question though...once you beat Story Mode is there any reason to beat it again? Beat it on a different level?

I see a lot of people commenting about the story mode. Which I loved the story mode. By far, best story in a fighting game ever so far. But I'm hung up on the Challenge Tower. It is kickin my ass... I'm on challeng 270-something and have to fight as Ermac against three (yes, three!) Goros. With no health recovery. I'm terrible with Ermac and the CPU is super cheap. I've probably given the neighbor in my apartment complex a few heart attacks from all the yelling, haha.

I like the game, but I would have to say its probably not worth the $60. Theres nothing new as you play over time. The only thing would be the challange tower which is fun and something new, but I dont think its enough. Story mode is long, but its the same thing over and over as you have to beat your opponent (or atleast thats how it is up to Chapter 11 which is where I am). Honestly I get bored with it after playing about 5 fights in a row. Its fun, but once you play a few times, nothing new is going to happen. I know whats what you get with a fighter game with MK, but it doesnt seem like enough to keep me wanting to play for hours at a time. With that said, the PSN has been down for the past few days and I havent gotten a chance to play it online yet.

You practically answered your own issue with the game. It's a fighting game, you can't expect THAT much from it. They've added pretty much all of the fighting game staples and the bread and butter is the online component. I know PSN is down (I haven't been able to access DCUO for a week now) and this is one time I'm glad I decided to skip Kratos and go for the XBOX version. This game is totally worth the $60 or $100 that I paid.

Some of the alternate costumes are awesome and some are lackluster, but I wouldn't say horrible. However, I prefer Sub-Zero's alternate costume and his MK1 costume to his main costume. I love his MK1 costume!:bowdown:

I hate facing Shao Kahn in the ladder. He is too tough. Last night I was whooping his ass and I won the first match. He ended up getting a flawless victory against me the second round, by him using his X-ray power that took down 75% of my health. The third and final round came down to one final hit for each of us and thankfully I got the last hit and I ended up beating him with Reptile. But each time I face him, it is way too much. I have a feeling they made him too powerful, I don't want to face him on the hardest difficulty, I would probably lose it.

I picked it up this past Sunday and enjoying every bit of it. I plan on playing more of it tonight.

I play it on Medium, but I've actually noticed that the more times you lose to Shao Kahn, he eventually starts taunting you more. Usually after about 3 losses, he taunts me a lot, which makes him easier. Quite a few of characters that I've played, I was able to get to Shao Kahn with no rounds or matches lost. Then Shao Kahn proceeds to whup my ass.

Did this game not come with an instruction booklet? The case feels naked without it. All I had was the katalog and a warranty page and free Xbox Live card. No real book.

Just wondering.

Plasmatwa2, each character does have the same on each thing you mentioned except for the victory celebrations. The only time they change is if you do a fatality or a babality.

Whimsy, I too don't have an instruction booklet with my game either.

Right now, I'm going through the ladder with each character I can beat it with to get their alternate costume and the little objects that appear before each character in the Krypt. I have beaten it with all the cool people like: Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Raiden, Liu Kang, Noob Saibot, and Ermac. The people that I usually don't play the game with remain. I'm gonna need some good luck to get through Goro and Shao Kahn. Those two are too hard to beat.

Cyber Sub Zero is a beast, he is one of the smoothest and most fluid characters to use in any fighting game.

I barely survive against Goro, Kintaro, Mileena and Shao Kahn and THAT'S what I get for my trouble. Couldn't they at least put a better one in?
