Mortal Kombat (finally done right!?)

Finally got my copy in...it came with Mileena's alternate costume.:dunno:

Mine will be here tomorrow morning. The ironic thing is that it is here in Stamford, CT and has been here since about 10:30 AM EST. My mail carrier already came so I decided to go to the USPS warehouse, which is only about a block from my house.

I give them the USPS confirmation number, the one that BestBuy gave me, but it's not in their system.:surprise: I know it's there because the tracking number said that it's location is Stamford, CT and it has been accepted by the USPS.

Damn USPS! I want to rip people's heads off! I took a work vacation this week to play Mortal Kombat!:horse:

^ Why don't you just buy from a retailer the day it comes out? :dunno:

Alright!!!!!! MK has arrived and I'm ready to tear limbs off!!!!!! I even got the Sub-Zero code that I wanted!!!!!!:nanner: I spent about an hour looking through the art book though, which is pretty cool by the way and the bookends are awesome. Tomorrow, my Chun-Li Tournament Edition Fightstick arrives from FedEX and I can start practicing moves with the joystick. For now, time to fire up the fightpad.

In the story mode, Scorpion and Quin Chi are too difficult to beat with just Liu Kang. Every combo I try, they block it. Then they attack me on both sides and take down half of my life. If I try to do the x-ray power, they always block that and do one themselves. If I ever win the first match, they always win the last two. It is a non-win situation and I am not going to try any further because I will prob lose another controller if I try it. Why did they make that part so freakin hard.

One thing I must say is the CPU is very dumb at times. I had a problem at the same point you are at right now. I just held block till they got close then I would keep using the throw to build up an Xray move. Cheesy, cheap, whatever, but it worked! Also, (to me) some characters are very hard too get used to. IE Liu Kang, Cyrax, Jax, etc.
:dunno:

It's worth the $60
:yesyes:

I'm hoping it will drop price quickly. I've noticed in the past few months that game prices have dropped like hotcakes. I went to Target and saw a bunch of $60 games for $45 yesterday, and now I regret buying WWE All Stars for full price.

I'm contemplating either getting this game in a few months when the price drops or buyin Marvel vs Capcom 3 now that it is $45 or I may just buy BlazBlue Continuum Shift and save $20, can anyone tell me which game is more worth it?:dunno:

If you have been following/playing Mortal Kombat from the beginning, then buy Mortal Kombat! If not, then you may wanna buy one of those other games...just bein honest!
:dunno:

This would apply to any others on the fence.

I say just buy the game that you know you're gonna continually play. I have both BlazBlue games but I don't play them as much as I should. I love the series though.

I skipped MVC 3 because I wasn't really feeling it and my friend (who did buy it) can't stand the game, he's a huge fan of MVC 2. I heard the online component was atrocious as well.

I'm having a blast with Mortal Kombat. It harkens back to the early MK games.

Yea I agree about getting used to each character. I kept trying to do the fire ball and bicycle kick that Liu Kang can do. The first couple of times, I kept getting beat, then I beat those two, beat Goro, and Shang Tsung. I made it all the way to Sub-Zero and Reptile but I kept losing so I just stopped playing.

The Nekropolis is sweet, if you get points from going through the Ladder, Story Mode, and the Challenge tower, you can unlock skins, art, music, and Fatalities. I got the alternate fatalities for Jade, Baraka, Shang Tsung, and Kano. Plus different codes for Headless Kombat, X Rays Disabled, and Quick Upper Cut Recovery.

Playing with Scorpion on the ladder, I did his primary Fatality and his Babality. I tried his Pit Fatality but couldn't do it.

I love MK, been playing as long as I can remember, back in the day on the Genesis. The demo really did remind me of old school MK but alot faster which is a plus, I'm just not sure how fast I'll get bored of it though... I'll play it alot at my friend's house today so I'll see how long it can keep me entertained.

Shit...the only cool thing I got so far was one extra fatality. :shy:
I think it was Cyrax's?
:dunno:
I know they have cheats online but I'm not into spoilers. Makes the game more intereresting to me.
:2 cents:

Legzman

You don't need to buy each characters alternate fatality. All you need to do is know the button combinations and you can use it.

Do Scorpion's stage fatality at the same distance as you do his fatalities. I can't figure out how to do the babalities for any of the characters. I looked up all the combinations online so I can do them without wasting time/koins in the krypt.
