Can't believe the Padres missed the playoffs entirely.
I have no love for that franchise but damn that's a brutal end to a what appeared to be a Cinderella season.

I guess I'll be pulling for the Rangers to win the WS.
I'd pull for the Rays but since their fan base doesn't seem to care, why should I :dunno:

You can eat crow once we are world champs. This group is a persistent bunch. I've met some of the players.

I know that all eight clubs that make the postseason are going to be tough, but I know this club is destined to win. It will come down to pitching. BUT, we have the best bullpen in the league, hence why I have so much faith in them.

Twins win never win the World Series again.Their team is built for the 162 game grind, but in recent years, can never get it done in shorter series.

This is the time of year when pitching is most important.Sorry, but the Twins just aren't up on the same level as the other teams in the AL as far a pitching goes.

They will be out the first round again.

The Twins haven't exactly lit it up in the postseason the last couple of years. The only time I remember them advancing past the ALDS is when they played the Yankees in the ALCS a few years back.

I am very pleased and surprised to see my Reds in the playoffs for the first time in a decade and a half.
That said, and I hate to say it, but I do not see them going very far. They quite simply are not that good against good teams.
But, they are young - young enough to be together for a few more years. And, they are hungry. I can imagine them sitting in the dugout after getting beat in the playoffs, watching (most likely) the Phillies celebrate - perhaps even in Cincy.
That will piss some of those youngsters. I cannot see the likes of Votto, Bruce, Phillips, Cueto, Volzquez appreciating that very much, thinking to themselves "I want that...but I don't want to see the other team do that in front of me again".

I'm so glad that my Braves made the playoff. I hope they win it all for Bobby Cox

the last time they advanced was in 2002 vs oakland and then they lost to the angels in the alcs. they haven't ever played the yankees in the ALCS.

im a twins fan so idk if im a homer but i think they have a legit shot at beating the yanks in the ALDS

Two things:

1. Pitching is not the most important thing in the playoffs. It is no doubt important, but it is not of paramount importance. Hitters are much more prone to outlier performance in the playoffs, thus hitting becomes the paramount concern for teams. The average ERA, FIP, and xFIP of pitchers in the playoffs is roughly a full run higher than their averages, which isn't much compared to the skewed data hitters tend to produce.

2. The Twins starting rotation was third and first in FIP and xFIP, respectively this season. Their rotation can absolutely stack up against any other team. It's their offense that will dictate, as it always has been with any team in the playoffs.

I have to agree with fatman here. No team in the playoffs has starting pitching as bad as the Yankees do. Their lineup is formidable, but in the postseason teams will go with a three-man rotation, meaning that the Yankee lineup will have to face a quality starting pitcher every time out. After CC, the Yankees starting pitching is horrendous. Burnett has been atrocious, Hughes has been equally atrocious ever since the All-Star break, and Pettitte has only made three starts since returning from the DL (two of which were even more atrocious than the average start from Burnett or Hughes). Pettitte has stellar numbers in the postseason, so there is always a chance he'll rise to the occasion in the postseason as he has before, but based on his recent struggles, I don't have much faith in the Yankees and I do think that the Twins will be able to beat them. In a five-game series, CC can only win two games for the pinstripes.

P.S. The Yankees have by far the weakest bullpen of all the teams in the playoffs too. Pitching is paramount in the postseason, so while the Yankee lineup is arguably the best in the league (and I think it is) their pitching staff just isn't good enough to carry them deep in the postseason, in my opinion.

As a Marlins fan, I am rooting for one thing this postseason. For the Braves to get their asses kicked.

Josh Johnson for NL Cy Young. Gaby Sanchez for NL Rookie of the Year.

Damn rod, you know all the angles. Imagine how much better the Twins would be if they had Morneau this whole time. It's not like tough ass hockey players where we get back out there next week if we get hammered; now the concusion is a big deal. :dunno:

Roy Halladay is a pitching GOD!!! Throws a no-hitter in his first ever postseason start... WOW!!! I hope he throws a perfect game in Game 4 (but that the Reds win the other three games of the series).

I hope Joey Votto takes out Roy Halladay in game 4 with a line drive to the face.

I don't really see this series going more than 3 games. Matter of fact, I'll give 5:1 that it doesn't.

ANKIEL!!!!! :surprise:

As a Cardinals fan who clearly remembers his playoff debut.....that was great to see. I couldn't be happier for him.

It's a shame that may have been Wagner's final time on the baseball diamond. Hate to see him knocked out by an injury.

Amazing to see how far he's come since then. Good for him I say.

So how about those Twins?:1orglaugh With Thursday's loss to the Yankees the Twins moved into a tie for second place for baseball's longest postseason losing streak. Their losing streak is currently at 11 games and this stretches form 2004 -2010.
