I have to agree with fatman here. No team in the playoffs has starting pitching as bad as the Yankees do. Their lineup is formidable, but in the postseason teams will go with a three-man rotation, meaning that the Yankee lineup will have to face a quality starting pitcher every time out. After CC, the Yankees starting pitching is horrendous. Burnett has been atrocious, Hughes has been equally atrocious ever since the All-Star break, and Pettitte has only made three starts since returning from the DL (two of which were even more atrocious than the average start from Burnett or Hughes). Pettitte has stellar numbers in the postseason, so there is always a chance he'll rise to the occasion in the postseason as he has before, but based on his recent struggles, I don't have much faith in the Yankees and I do think that the Twins will be able to beat them. In a five-game series, CC can only win two games for the pinstripes.
P.S. The Yankees have by far the weakest bullpen of all the teams in the playoffs too. Pitching is paramount in the postseason, so while the Yankee lineup is arguably the best in the league (and I think it is) their pitching staff just isn't good enough to carry them deep in the postseason, in my opinion.
