SIDE QUESTION: Anybody here doing MLB.TV on the web? Is it worth it? It's pretty expensive ($199) so I am reluctant to go for it. Any input appreciated.
Jagger, I wouldn't get it. What they put in the fine print is that games are subject to local ******** restrictions regardless of whether the game is home or away or even televised (see Premium Link Upgrade ). For example, I live in northern Indiana and every Cubs, Sox, and Reds game would automatically be blacked out all year long.
I did get the MLB Audio package so that I could listen to the games that aren't televised on WGN or CSN Chicago (15-20 games a year). It's also great because I can listen at work during my prep time.
Before you get it, figure out if the team you're following would be blacked out. There's a zip code check on the link above and it tells you which market you're in. If you want to follow a team and you aren't in their market, then I guess you might consider it. If I lived in California, this would be a great package to have. But as my team is so close, MLB TV doesn't make sense because I couldn't watch my team's games on it anyway.
I dont have any idea why nobody signed Bonds after he left the Giants. I guess him being a colossal asshole far outweighed his hitting prowess. Collusion? He would have been great as a DH.

Pirates are now 6-5 with a win in the bottom of the ninth against the Reds 5-4 tonight. Pretty good game, I like the Pirates fight they have in them. Definitely see something better this year than last year from them. Garrett Anderson is one hell of a ballplayer. He makes some miraculous defensive plays, as well he knows how to swing the bat, with a walkoff single tonight. They need to keep it up and not give up hope so early in the season, this is exactly what they needed. Looked like they were down and out, and came back with the win.

I'd venture a guess as to say almost any AL team would have been happy to have him as a DH, however the legal processes he was tied up certainly had a major effect.

He was still in legal problems when the Jays thought about signing him, if I remember correctly. Probably didn't want to pick up a huge contract for him and then have him miss every game or something. Plus that was when the debate on steroid use caught on fire, and I assume the Jays didn't want to take the bad press.
