4-1 baby. ;) Liriano looked reasonable last night. Morneau tearing it up. Young, Span, Thome, Mauer, Cudduyer...we're going all the way this year. :hatsoff:

i sure hope so, im loving rauch so far and the lineup can mostly hit the long ball 1-8 (hudson batting 2nd and punto batting 9th being the exceptions)

but given the rest of the hitters the twins have they can survie with punto untill a better option presents itself. one they should consider the pirates andy laroche or blake dewitt from the dodgers

Wow what a finish by the Redbirds last night....trailing 4-3 at Milwaukee, 2 out in the top of the 9th, 1 man on and pinch-hitter Nick Stavinoha ("who?" you must be saying) at the plate with 2 strikes on him and facing the greatest relief pitcher (by number of saves) who ever lived (Trevor Hoffman). Down to their last strike, Stavinoha reaches down for a change up that Hoffman targets low and out over the outside part of the plate. He drills the ball over the left field wall for a 2-run shot that put the Cardinals in front for good.

3-1 on the road so far to open the season and we'll be one of the featured games on Fox today. If we can even gain a split over the next 2 games, great start to the season by the Cardinals. They look very solid....only question mark is the closer.

Are the Rays for real? They mauled the yanks last night.

We can't beat the fucking Royals :mad::mad:

Nice that Papi got sent to the showers last night. Get rid of that sadsack. It's over Papi. You made your money, contributed huge hits and homers but without Manny backing you up (and without the Juice ;) ) We seem to finally have the player the Twinkies wanted to dump all those years ago :o

Say what you will about the Twinks, but we've dumped some grade-A losers over the years. Ortiz is just one of them. Knoblach was probably the best thing that we ever got rid of. I'd say we have maybe the best developmental system in the majors which is why we've won five AL Central's since '02.

The Twins have won five division titles, but how many championships have they won? :crying:

How can you call David Ortiz a grade-A loser? The Twins releasing David Ortiz was one of the WORST moves in recent memory. Look at what he went on to accomplish with the Red Sox. Two World Series rings, including some monumental hits for the Sox in the postseason, especially during the first of those two championships, and especially in the series against the Yankees, runner-up for the AL MVP award in 2004, five straight seasons with 30+ HRs and 100+ RBI directly after being released by the Twins, including three 40+ HR seasons and one 50+ HR season, he also hit .300+ for three of those seasons as well. Last year was pretty bad, and this season he's off to a poor start (five games in), so that makes him a grade-A loser? That makes no sense. Five AL Central (a pretty weak division) titles since '02 is nothing compared to winning two championships, so in the end, Ortiz gets the last laugh.

Joe Torre's standard over managing bites him in the ass again. He used his closer on back to back nights in games where the Dodgers had 10 to 2 and 7 to 1 leads. So of course tonight when he really needed him he couldn't use him. Result: Dodgers blow two run lead in bottom 9th, lose to Marlins.
Joe's a really good guy and a strong clubhouse presence but as a tactician he's severely over-rated.

On a positive note, it's almost the middle of April already and my Pirates haven't been mathematically eliminated yet :nanner:

And yet the Twinkies have the best record in baseball early on.

The beginning of the year is a good time for bad teams like the Pirates and Royals and Padres. Its still early so they dont know how much they suck yet. Dangerous for opposing teams though. Todays Braves v Giants should be very good. Anytime Tim Lincecum pitches is a good day but him pitching to my new favorite player (Jason Heyward, cool it with the Willie Mays comparisons please.) should prove quite entertaining.

Nice comeback in the 9th for my Marlins. Bullpen is definitely a concern though. Feel Gaby Sanchez will break out this season. Hanley = 3rd best player in baseball.

after watching the A's vs Angels last night i think they both have bullpen concerns but nothing like the Orioles have, they would have 3 more wins if thier closer hadn't blown those saves

Mostly based on last season. But seriously, he's a DH. Ask Peter Gammons what his opinion is on the DH and get an idea how kind of silly it is. And comparing Boston to Minnesota is like apples and oranges; one of them spends a small country's GDP on their payroll and the other has a developmental system unparalled in pro baseball.

And yet the Twinkies have the best record in baseball early on.

If you look at our schedule, we're gonna blow the AL Central out of the water. Lots of games against lowly KC and the Sox. :D

Quite irrelevant and impertinent points on both counts. Kiss the rings.

P.S. I love the Twins and Justin Morneau is my favourite player, but that has nothing to do with calling Ortiz a grade-A loser.
