MLB 2009 thread

I just want a September where the Mets can stop choking and win all the games they are supposed to win. I still don't have faith in Omar and Wilpons. They fucked up once again by not getting a #2 pitcher in Lowe and played cheap by signing bunch of journeymen and injured prone players to fight for the last rotation spot. They also choked by not going after Manny when he could be had for 2 year deal. If Mets made the playoffs all will be forgiven but we'll just have to see.

This is going to be a crazy year in Oakland.Experinced hitters and not so much in the pitchers. when your most experinced starter has made 35 total starts you tend to worry and the opening schedule is brutal.

All of the A's starters project to be at least league average, so they shouldn't be too bad. I'm not a big fan of Cahill and Anderson coming up to the big club so fast, but they're talented enough to make it right now.

Funny thing about predictions though.I don't like rushing them either and then facing the Angels,Red Sox and Yankees early in you schedule may not be the best way to break in

Please tell me why ESPN feels the need to shoe womens ncaa basketbaall on ESPN and opening night on ESPN 2. Who the hell watches womens basketball. Really stupid.

Also why is the ring ceremony on wed? I thought it was always the first game.

^^^Dont tell me you enthralled by the greatness of Stanford v. UConn??? But yeah really? Since when did womens sports become relevant? Thats right up there with soccer in the US in why even try. By the time I found the baseball game it was the 7th inning and I realized that baseball is back. Two more days till Opening Day for me personally.

Very true, but most of the historically greatest pitchers struggled early in their respective careers, and at a certain point, they begin to show why they're so highly touted.

ESPN's contract with the NCAA puts the game on the deuce. also opening day is a week later than last year due to the WBC. True shayd many pitchers struggle early and round into form i just hope the A's hitters provide the offenseive help

With you 100% my friend, but even if you project them to be worse than they're career averages, the A's hitters will be about 12 wins better than last year, so I think the A's look really good this year.

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
If the cubs do good this year, then I'll be interested. But if they suck as usual, then I couldn't care less. They'll never make it to a world series, much less actually win! Of course if they ever do Chicago will be destroyed!

Even with the Red Sox game rained out, it was still my kind of start into a new season: the fat-fuck allowing six runs over, well, not even five innings...ha ha ha ha ha ha! I sait it before, the Skankees may be in for one hell of a surprise, that 423.5 Million US dollars won't buy you a championship, not even a spot in the post season. Of course they will win a ton of games, but still, the Red Sox and the Rays again will prevail in the AL East. Should be an exciting year of baseball...ha ha ha ha ha ha!

In a sick way I really enjoyed seeing C.C. phail in his Yankee debut, seeing Tex choke, and watching the Yankees lose to the Mighty O's. Great seeing Junior homer in his first game back in Seattle. Cliff Lee in a contract year just a terrible terrible start. What happened to the A's much ballyhooed offense? And of course Giants management trying to squeeze every last dollar out of their fans decide to have one last spring training game on Sunday so Opening Day will be on Tuesday with a forecast for rain. Possible doubleheader on Wednesday with a split admission, making the fucking wait for baseball by the bay way too agonizing. Thanks douche bags.

The A's are pretty notorious slow starters. Once they get comfortable at the plate, they'll show they're worth the hype. And for the record, I'm thoroughly impressed at how good Eric Chavez is, when he (in his words) is only "about 80%". If he keeps hitting the ball the way he has been the last few weeks, he may just get back to 30 HR.

also the A's faced a pitcher actually hitting his spots. Yaheem the Giants have to pay that park off why do you think they have a bowl game there now.The Reds could be good this year based on the effort i saw against the Mets yesterday
