Martin Luther King Jr. Remembered

I still don't get the argument here.

step 1) The voices in my head tell me to make the world better

step 2) I make the world better

Am I insane? Am I a savior? Who fricking cares? The world is a better place now. Everybody should be happy... :dunno:

Greg I hate to inform you of this but 5000 plus posts on a wanker message board in just a little over a years time is a fucking sorry way for a grown man to spend his life. :D

"Life" ... ?

What's that ... *off to wikipedia*

Glad you stayed on topic! :jester:

... Oh, 9 pm already! Troll feeding time is up! :wave2:

You could have stopped there as the rest of what you say has nothing to do with the man.

Dude you're a kid and you're saying there are "alot" (sic) people did much greater things "then" (sic) him and have been forgotten over time. First of all, if that's the case how on earth do you know about them then. Secondly, we all have our opinions...and like you said he was dead before you were born. So it's quite likely the case based on your statements you didn't care much to learn about him, the movement he lead and the circumstances of the movement. So consistently, you probably have very little basis for how to judge his influence and impact on the circumstances of his time.

Leadership can be bestowed upon any common man and some can be turned into a leader. Great leaders of selfless causes are born though and it virtually doesn't matter the cause. This happened to be his calling. Whenever it's asked of us, what did we do, say or sacrifice to make a difference...In MLK Jr.'s case the overwhelming majority of people who don't have some other predisposition conclude by any standard of reasonable measurement it was quite allot. For that his day is remembered

There are many all over the world who have faced oppression and persecution and in every case those who lead honorable causes for the oppressed and persecuted are recognized for their role. MLK Jr. didn't just speak for the voiceless oppressed and persecuted he identified with. He spoke of a larger call who's influence didn't just stop at the borders of the US. The manner of his leadership didn't just speak for the freedom, justice and equality of the voiceless he represented but to all men. Those who were oppressed and those who were not.

No one's making you care about it though. It's still a free country.
a kid.. whats the difference in our age, 25, 3o years? i guess u can read history books better then me. age has nothing to with anything. What i am speaking of is lazy crybaby american blacks dwelling on the past, hell where i live the mexicans think the same thing. And they are not bias.

God help us all...the school system has failed us all! The young are unable to think on their own...the foretold has actually come to pass!

Let me help you, child...the whole point (which you missed without a set of instructions or a CLIFF'S NOTES on the post) is that you are trying to use an atrophied imagination to understand something of significance that happened before you could understand why putting you toes in your mouth wasn't the greatest event of the day.
While those who actually were around when these events were actually happening have a real grasp on events, their significance, and where things went from one monumental event to another...unlike yourself.
Try to read some, learn a little, and exercise that little bit of imagination you have access to, and maybe you'll understand some things about the world you live in...a small hope, an even smaller possibility...but hope and change does exist somewhere. Why not in the dusty seldom-used deductive reasoning part of your mind?

when u were young older ppl were sayin the same of your gen im sure, so think before you go around spittin your ignorance,1 thing i can say my gen is not. I dont care what happened. I wasnt even alive, and all those who were apart of it will be dead in 30 years. btw, you cant change people, they have been the same since the beginning of time, even if ur mlk. he pissed someone off and got shot, is in the history books, end of story. What he did is kinda like what you're doin on this forum, pointlessness.

It's unfortunate that King's message hasn't reached everyone, such as these "lazy crybaby american blacks dwelling on the past"... or yourself. ;)

It's like everything else: you can't always reach that least common denominator. But if you can reach some poeple (the ones who will lead the others), you can make a difference. Most rational (learned) people realize that King made a positive difference. Exposing the hypocrisy in our nation, in a peaceful way, helped all of us to be better people... well, most of us, anyway. :D

EDIT: Reference to the deleted post. This post is not deleted as it refers to generalization of historical events.

History has and will continue to shape how the world operates. You should learn about various individuals in history because they where the catalyst or nexus of change in there respective times. Weather this makes them special or whatever is debatable it still doesnt take away from the fact they where the person that stood up and did what had to be done, If it wasnt them it would likely have been someone else.

Of course historians, sociologists and various other intellectuals can argue up and down about how much certain individuals where responsible for that change. Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr etc.

Martin Luther King Jr may have been assassinated but he still heralded change albeit slow. He still brought attention to grave injustice in American society(I hope we're on about the same guy here I didnt even do American history lulz) Sure rascism still exists but as a consequence of Martin Luther Jr actions America is trying to change the clear proof of this is integrated schools and a black america president.

I'm Irish and only 24 soon be 25 I still know about important figures in history.*Some from active interest and others from just picking it up. General knowledge is never a bad thing to have.

Should listen to this awesome tune:D

*Some good, Some bad its a matter of perspective they all caused big ass ripples in history nonetheless. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

Martin Luther King Jr. would be proud.

After reading the rest of this thread, I take that back.

I can't believe how a thread about MLK has spawned so much arguing.

Not a delivery boy, a big truck truck driver, and ur side probably would hurt
whenever I go fishing I am the master baiter

Got it...you're gone fishing. Stop diggin now...:2 cents:

One thing I think would make MLK cry today is how little people seem to care about education in the community he worked so hard to get access to it to improve their lives. It's not "cool" these days to be smart and actually know things about the world other than sports and music. :2 cents:

He would cry today at how little people in all communities care about education.

Worf is the man. Nonsense.

Much as I would enjoy a poster with a screen name like MasterrBaiter :)rolleyes:) getting into a pissing match with his Mensa doppleganger "Pete Rose", anyone who disses Worf (or for that matter any Romulan) is just flat out wrong. As in "in the head wrong"; as in "wanking to torture sites" wrong; as in "even a Vulcan would turn away from the illogic" wrong.
Bad, bad direction to take.:nono:
