So Carl Jung, who died in 1961, came up with his theory on social personae (which reigns to this day) because he was petty and did it just to spite you?
Here's a question: A man has an employee. He asks his employee how they feel about him, and the employee respond that they think he's a great boss. The employee posts to their twitter later on that they think their boss is a cheap asshole. Which do you think more honestly represents the employee's thoughts about their boss? Who do you think knows that employee's thoughts about their boss better, the employer or the people following that particular twitter feed?
You'd have a point here, but only if people never lie in person.

I think the key thing to remember is that if dirk were an asshole he is free to be an asshole here. There are plenty of assholes here. They are very open about their assholeishness, and you'll notice no repercussions for the most part. Now, in the world those people likely aren't HALF the assholes they are here. They don't want to drive people away. They don't want to get punched. They don't want to be spat on. Here they don't have to worry about that. Here they're free to be themselves with no real consequences. They are free to act within their (lack) of conscience, to display their innermost thoughts to the world without worry. They can proverbially "let it all hang out."
If you want to buy into Mariah's interpretation, let's consider the following...
A white guy has a black acquaintance. He doesn't really like the man per se, but he associates with the man, and calls him "friend" quite simply because they have a friend in common, it's the standard "friend-of-a-friend" scenario. The white man never calls his black acquaintance the N-word, but he sure as Hell thinks it. Heck the guy is even a Klansman, but he doesn't tell those people in that social circle as much. No, he only goes off about minorities in public when he's wearing his Klan hood, or when he's online and free to anonymously post any garbage he wants. According to Mariah's theory... this guy isn't a racist because when he isn't being anonymous he associates (begrudgingly) with a black man and doesn't toss the N-word around.
So yeah... I'll stick with Jung thanks. :dunno:

Au revoir is the more common term, adieu is actually Olde English, embraced in several languages including French, and when addressing a crowd is properly adieux. Also, in French "everyone" is actually "tout le monde" (the second "t" in "tout" is silent, and it literally translates to "all the world"). So, she's speaking Frenglish actually. Which for the Quebecois is probably par for the course...

I'm genuinely curious why people continue to engage Mariah in any form of discussion about any topic.
This thread has already been derailed spectacularly over the last two pages and descended into same the "Me, Me, Me" posts that I have read all over the board. I've actually added her to my blocked list because I am sick of seeing the same head bashing against brick wall conversations that people are having. Its only through repeated quotes I still have a vague idea of what is going on.
It's always the same. I have yet to see anyone post a contradictory post that isn't met with an instantly angry response, delivered with a condescending attitude, rounded off with some randomly tacked on accomplishment that has nothing to do with the original topic.
I don't want to interact with Mariah, because there is no point. Post as respectfully as you can and it is still met with the same knee jerk hostile and condescending response. Brianna was called out because she quoted a post that merely name dropped her for christ sake.
This is all I'm gonna say on the matter, but it's the constant never ending stream of crap between members and yes, I'll say it, one OCSM that is making the board a far less pleasant place to be. Two pages and this thread is already going the same as every other thread Mariah posts in.
Mariah, you've already insulted every posting member on this board with your generalising attitude towards them. You may not had meant to, but you have.
I don't know any of your work and frankly I have no real interest in looking it up at this stage. I have read to many posts to remain silent on the subject, I have bit my tongue but this is becoming unreal now.
