How Much You Supposed To Tip The Pizza Delivery Driver?

I usually tip $5 but more if the weather is really shitty.

I don't think the 20% rule applies, they're not waiting on you.

I always move the decimal over to the left one spot and double it for a tip with a waiter/waitress but usually $2.00 Murican for pizza.

Usually 5 bucks if the order is 30 dollars or less. Even if I am spending 10-15 I will give them 5 because I don't have to go and grab take out. More than 30 bucks, I will try and tip them 20 percent.

I havent done delivery in a long time. I do carry out all the time. No matter how good the delivery driver is, there is a fair chance your pizza wont be as fresh as possible. If you have never tried carry out, try it some time. I think you will notice a big difference in the freshness.

Yes they are. They're driving to you, when you don't feel like it. They're just as deserving of tips as waiters and bartenders. Plus most delivery places don't provide the car, they use their own, which adds a lot of miles, there's more wear on the car (I dated a driver and in 3 years, he had to get 3 new cars), plus gas. It's not cheap.

$5 isn't bad though. Its not a lot but not bad. You'd be surprised how many stiffs and tiny tips people get.

That's true but I meant the driver goes through as much trouble with a $15 order than they would with a $30 one so I don't think the % should apply like it would if someone is waiting your table with a group. I live in a central area of town where everything is generally within 3 miles and I'm in a nice neighborhood. If I lived in BFE or in a bad neighborhood I'd definitely give more.

Also, I always have to give cash. It just doesn't feel right not giving something to the driver on hand, even if it's charging my card when I order or adding the tip to the receipt.

I am on a small budget, so usually it is 20%

But the china deli guy yesterday got more like 30%, and in retrospective, it should have been more like 40%. DAMN good cooking!

That all depends, are you still waiting for your pie?

This is a cultural issue.

In Finland pizza delivery driver, waiter or taxi driver does not expect that he will receive tip so I say zero euro.

Just so you characters know I had Hot Pockets for dinner tonight. Philly Steak & Cheese if you must pry. I will bookmark this thread for future reference. Carry on and have a Happy New Year. Fuck Kwanzaa.

Hot Pockets are something I can never bring myself to eat. Maybe it's just my imagination, but I think I can always taste the additional chemicals they put in them.

I base mine on the weather, and time of day. Regular delivery times up to 11:00PM $3 depending on weather. The place that delivers till 4:00AM? Yeah that is like $5 to $10, plus they are the best place in town. Also I never order when the roads are slick.
