thx petra, im now looking for a us based "blank" unpainted mini store.

this mini thing has opened up a can of worms.

for those interested, i did find this cool token creator tool. http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=downloads

if i had a usb cord for my printer and some ink, id do that for sure until i got the right minis. (also, im thinking it would suck royal balls to have a mini for EACH fucking monster u encountered.)

i like petras idea about the flat print outs too.

also....... AlexanderAvery, was that final fantasy game really that good? was there any confusion. i downloaded the pdf but haven't looked at it yet. what do u need to play it?

A bunch of D6s and people willing to come up with a character.

Well 2 D6s each player.

Part of the game is to come up with 3 goals and a life goal. There are a few balance hiccups. But that comes with anything. The Time Mage is really powerful.

Did you buy Descent yet? :1orglaugh

For maps and things like that I use Campaign Cartographer. It's one I bought a long time ago, like a decade ago or so. I hear they have a better version now. The biggest problem with it is the cost. The next biggest problem is the learning curve, and to make nice maps one does kind of need an artistic touch and some experience. Other than that it tends to make decent overland maps. I never got into a lot of the programs that were used by people to make interior designs and other things though. I always just drew them out and had people use their imaginations.

Is that the old module Decent to the Depths? I remember that one... we got uber pwned! Great fun... that takes me back a few years... :1orglaugh

Journeys in the Dark

My hubby got bit by the Descent bug last year so a friend and I bought him the game for his birthday and he's gotten 2 expansion packs since. Only reason I consented is I can use the mini's for the real table top games. :1orglaugh

cool program.

i really like the flip mat from paizo though. dry erase does come off super easy and permanent too as long as you put dry erase over it and wait a couple of seconds. (that could be a pain if you draw elaborate dungeons or scenery)

the creasing isnt as bad as people made em out to be. i plan on keeping mine flattened out though. being a bit artistic, i most enjoy drawing out the map by hand.

i had bricks, chests (i made some of them with polymer clay), torches, ladders, tables, bunks, and that sorta thing. oh i made a room that had 4 caskets in it that turned out rather nice and my player was actually nervous to check out the contents. ;)

Because of one of our DM's loves for vampires our default to seeing a casket is either "Kill it With Fire" or "Stick pegs into the 'heart'"

haha! this time she was rewarded with a secret switch that opened a room with treasure.

because of the total fagness of twilight, i just cant think about vampires these days without feeling a bit embarrassed.

Very true... but I do remember years ago, my old teen D&D group running through the Ravenloft modules, man that was a cool freakin' adventure! Straud was a vampire worthy of fear.

I think Twilight is the logical conclusion of the wussification of vampires over the last 15 - 20 years or so. People could probably go and blame things like what Ann Rice wrote even long before that, and then there were a bunch of television shows that started the trend also. I remember when vampires where scary things that people feared in literature. Sure even back in the day a little before it started you no longer had those balding hunched over sneaky-faced looking creepy dudes kind like back in the old Dracula movie days anymore and instead there was normal looking men, and sometimes there was the sexy buxom female vampire with the very low cut dress that was blatant eye candy (not that I minded of course ;)), but at least you knew they were evil and would hunt you down and devour you if you let your guard down back then. :1orglaugh

If you want to go into real myhtology, modern Zombies would be closer to Wampyres from mythology than anything we call a vampire.

Zombies are specific from Hodun Mythology where a Dark Papa would raise the dead as a slave, and if they tasted meat they would remember they are dead.

But when I am looking back at BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and thinking "This is better than most modern vamps." there is a problem.

I like the show, but it was silly and campy.

You need a good session of Vampire then. With a past character I was charged with killing DJ Bobo, who made it to the Eurovision contest with the song "vampires are alive."

Unfortunately the woman got away.....was going to go after the bitch but my character died via friendly fire (yea right).
