hmm. thx guys. my NPC doesn't do very much so i am doing all the work. in fact, i succeeded in my first party death so im going all the way back the to beginning of that campaign to when we first cross paths.

i didnt use my stances and thats probably what did it for me. im still level 1 and was pretty close leveling up before that fucking skeleton blackguard got me. im sporting 29HP while hes hot 48 or something.

Speaking of which I have a great idea for an NPC

Death to the Skeletons by force of Neiiigggghhh-ture!

Lol... I will try and find it again *sighs*
I am pretty sure this is going to be a hard Perception AND and intelligence check.

Okay so I passed that check and even managed to click the edit button on my post before it timed out *Gee I am getting the hang of freeone forums!*

id bring shitty snacks. carrot sticks and tap water.

I bring grapes. :)

also. do any of you guys know if i have to split my XP with a NPC in a solo campaign?

i have a NPC that keeps surviving and im not sure if im supposed to split them with her or reduce my XP because i have help, or is it you kill, you get that monsters XP?

When I was running d20, I'd split out the XP between the players and then I'd halve whatever the players got and give it to the NPC if there was one in the party at the time...they had a habit of picking them up for pets.

Also when running d20, I didn't give individual experience (some people give more xp to the person making the kill than the support). It all got put in the general pot and I divided it among those present.

When I ran a D20 Modern. I put all the XP into a pool and let the party decide who got it. They liked it, since I also started new characters (New Players or people who rolled up new characters) at a lower level, and this let them catch up.

A friend later did it in his 3.5 game, which let my Wizard get more so he could make them magical items.

By the way, I didn't get a chance to play it at the Con due to my running games myself (paranoia was in demand), but I've heard a lot of raves for an indi game called Jaws of the Six Serpents. It's not one for an ongoing campaign, but it's excellent for one shots. Or so I've been told.

hahaha, wow. he must've rolled a 20 in gay too.

Yeah! But actually you can have fun creating or using tables of random encounters. Get a D100 (or two D10s) and write a list:

1-5 Gay Unicorn
6-10 Leprichaun with Tourettes
11-20 Bugged Out Bug Bear
21-30 DuckBunny (actually D&D monster)
31-40 Senmurv
41-70 A Monkey
71-90 Autognome
91-99 Pantomime Dragon

Okay obviously its an example I didnt take into account that the Autognome (which is listed a very rare creature) still has a 20% chance of joining the encounter. Sloppy on my behalf, but the example is there.

You can also find lots of these lists spread throughout the D&D world.

I'm surprised. I would have thought Petra would be the one to put up a picture like that to get us to fail sanity checks. :1orglaugh

My tactics are much more evil...such as letting the group rescue a unicorn from dark elves only to have the unicorn turn out to be the same annoying personality of Donkey from Shrek...

Or having 1 surviving PC from an almost TPK and then trying to kill off his character in a con game with 1 of the regular group players being an assasian and then leaving his safety up to 2 random individuals.

I later brought Syn back as the Paladin mount for my chaotic neutral Paladin of Bristlebane in EQd20. I seriously thought the group was going to lynch me...they hated that unicorn.

To this date, I think people rather see the many Bob NPCs (all npcs who I can't bother coming up with a name for is named Bob. This is very interesting in Paranoia...) over Syn.

let me pick your brain for your favourite choice of battle maps.

chessex have gotten good reviews but only with certain types of markers.

i dont know if id want to settle with official dungeon tiles.. but it might be nice to have. dunno.

ive read about a lot of crazy homemade devices like laminated print outs and scratching up dry erase boards.

i want something that you can draw on thats in 1''x1'' grid but wont wipe off easy like whiteboard and marker. the poster map i got in the read box is already begun to wear around the creases.

For our map we bought a Dry Erase Board and scored 1X1 squares in it. Worked well for us. The marker does not wipe off as easy as you'd think
