Don't ya wish you had some guns?

Rey C.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
The impression I get from a lot of gun owners (including the ones in this thread) is that they almost can't wait for some hoodlum to try something on them so they can go dirty harry on them.

Hopefully that's not the case. If it is, it sort of suggest mental illness or maybe just the common internet syndrome that mainly affects males: BDFoS disease (Big Dick Full of Shit = every guy on the internet is a millionaire, has a Ferrari for the odd days and a Porsche for the even days, is 6'5" and has a 12 inch cock).

I've never shot anyone. I hope I never have to shoot anyone. And I don't want to shoot anyone. Shooting someone or drawing a gun does NOT make one a man. Unfortunately, there are too many people these days who see gun play as the cool way out of situations. "Better not diss me, man... or I'll smoke you, fool!" Riiiight. In my day, kicking a guy in the balls during a fight made you a straight up pussy forever. You'd never live that down. And nobody even thought about pulling a knife, much less a gun.

It's the kind of thing that worries me about gun owners. They seem to never fucking want to shut up about their goddamned gun(s). Like they're obsessed with them. When I think of someone whose obsessed with a tool made for killing things, I think of a mentally unstable person who owns a fucking tool for killing things. This makes me want to support gun control. I know people who own guns (pretty much strictly for hunting) and they don't talk about them all the time. Or whine about how so & so wants to take them away. I don't have any problem with people like this (probably because I KNOW they're responsible enough to handle them). I understand people hunting as a past time and a hobby. I've never had the slightest interest in it one bit, but I get it. It's the people I described in my last post that really bother me, and I know that the two groups aren't always separate.

If I was going to own a gun for protection, I wouldn't bring it up all the time and I wouldn't act like everyone was trying to take it from me. Admit it, you think guns are "cool". I have friends like this, they talk all big like "nobody better fuck with me, because I'll fucking drop 'em dead in a heartbeat". I don't know you guys well enough to make that assertion about you, but it is the impression I get from some of the talk in here.

Not everyone is a dirty harry but knowing how many robberies and home invasions happen in the US, you better be prepared for the worse. Also you have to take in consideration that police can't be everywhere. At last but not least, each guns owner is different.

Being a parent does not qualify you for anything, it doesn't make you smarter, and it doesn't make you a higher being. Quite the contrary it makes you a burden on the rest of us. More often than not it just means you were young and irresponsible and now have children. This whole 'I'm a parent I know better than you' bullshit gets old.

Exactly, and thus:

That's totally absurd. You cannot teach gun control to an 8 year old.

Thank you very much. :hatsoff:

This is absolutely nothing more than the promotion of fear, another one of this country's largest problems.
Want to know what the problem is? You.
I walk every day through a predominately black neighborhood. Some would call it a slum. Know what? I feel safer going through there than I do going past the house with the big confederate flag hanging outside. I KNOW that fucker is dangerous.
Because here is the funny thing about black people: They are people. Normal people. While many here would see them as hoodies or thugs or gangstas, I see them as people. I treat them as people...I as how they are doing while passing them on the street, engage in some small talk. I see a guy struggling to get something heavy or awkward out of his car, I help - doesn't matter what kind of neighborhood it is in.
In other words, if you only see the worst in people or a neighborhood, then YOU will be treated as the worst think in that neighborhood. YOU will be the threat, and treated as such. However, if you don't act like a big-shit cowboy who owns the place - if you instead act like you are going through the homes of others, then you will also be treated with the same respect. Continue to act with hatred and fear of others, and you will deservedly be treated the same.

Now, gun ownership.
I do know quite a few gun owners myself. Hell, my dad was one. Quite a few of them do it quietly and responsibly.
Then there are the loud owners. The ones who brag about their collection, and even go as far to brag about packing. These are what we call "threats". These are the ones to worry about. One guy in particular bragged about being startled by a pop-up sprinkler and automatically reaching for his firearm. He stated proudly that, had he his firearm in that instance "that sprinkler would have been fucking toast".
These are the types of people you guys are so passionately fighting for. Pure cowards.
You are also passionately fighting for the coworker of mine who said he was sitting in his truck one day, and saw a black man approaching his vehicle - so he reached for his firearm. "If he got 50 feet from me, he would have been dead".
Or one of my parents' neighbors, who frequently uses his pistol to scare birds away from his birdbath - oh, and he is a gun-safety instructor!

GUN SALES SOARING IN 2012

By way of FOX News, Storm, Ruger, and Co. said that they have had orders for more than 1 million guns so far this year.

Mike Weeks, owner of Georgia Gun Store in Gainesville said:

Sales usually increase this time of year with tax returns, but this year has been higher than most,"

People are scared their gun rights are going to be curtailed after the election.

Usually people come in to buy three or four boxes for target practice. Now they are coming in asking what kind of deals they could get on a case.

Former CIA officer, Jason Hanson said:

People feel that Obama will serve second term and with it their gun rights with taken away, so they are stocking up. They're also worried that the economy is not getting any better and that they need to protect themselves.
Bill Briggs at MSNBC says:

Stand Your Ground laws, which have come under fire as a possible factor in the Florida shooting death of an unarmed black teenager, may be having another impact, too - helping fuel a surge in gun sales.
Stand Your Ground laws give power to those that have guns so it makes sense people would want guns. But it also makes sense that a slumping economy fuels people's desire to protect themselves.

:nanner: :glugglug: :hatsoff:

Well then, where would you recommend that I keep them... :dunno:

Interesting question, really. Why not keep them in a locker at the shooting range?

I know in certain municipalities even police officers have to do extra training/testing to be allowed to take their side arms home when they're off duty. Otherwise they stay in a locker at the precinct.

I think some separation between owners and guns is a good thing. It would prevent hot-headed shootings.
:2 cents:

For Fuck's Sake, People! Let's eradicate, hide, confiscate, store in lockers, all things in the world that cause death. Then, maybe we will all be safe and sound and the world will be one big happy planet. NOT!

Cars
Trains
Planes
Bus's
Sharpened pencils
Alcohol
Heroin
Crack
Reefer
Cocaine
Cigarettes
Parachutes
Bridges (so people can't jump off of them to commit suicide)
Snow Skiing
NASCAR
Indy Car
Drag Racing
Knives
Chain Saws

Add to the list is you like.

No one suggested anything of the sort, but good job overreacting in such a predictable way.

Short term memory loss??

Funny how you rejoice at this Sam when really, this increases the odds of you drawing your weapon and getting blown away in the street.

perhaps you should look at who's on the most wanted listed of the fbi, us marshal and interpol:

as well as the list of the arrested people

I never promotion fear and I base myself on the cold and hard reality. The facts don't lie. Do I consider the queens, the bronx, harlem, flint, lansing, compton or the watts as great places to live? Knowing how many drive by shootings, drug related crimes and gang activity there is inside those, I conside those as beyond shit quarters. Do gang members and people encouraging gang activity deserve sympathy? No, absolutely not. Thing is that I avoid at all costs being in a shitty quarter because when you are not from the hood, you can get hurt pretty bad or even killed. If you don't have the same dress code than them (remember the bloods and crips bandana colors), you are considered as a member of the law enforcement and you can get easily killed for sticking your nose where it doesn't belong. I am very interested to know since when thugs, hoodies and gangstas can be considered as "honest" and "law abiding citizens" since they are the biggest problem in the american cities.Since these same people have a record as long as novel and filled with several offences in 90% of cases and went to prison, I hardly see how it is possible to have a constructive talk with them. You can't make of a criminal a honest citizen. You should worry more about people and thugs promoting violence than the ones who want to protect their families and their businesses.

For everyone in here who is against gun ownership / not allowing guns to be in the home / having to keep them in a locker at a shooting range / etc., I have just two questions for you.

1. When you leave your house to go somewhere like to work, the mall, a ballgame, or at night when you go to bed, do you lock the doors? If yes, why?

2. When you are shopping, going to a ballgame, a movie, etc., do you lock your car? If yes, why?

I'm against this, guns are horrible, I can't believe anyone would own one, everyone knows that rifles are the way to go ;)

1) So no one enters my home.
2) So no one enters my car.

I'll assume you intend to 'bait' us, Sam? Are you going to attempt to stretch this concept to somehow justify the need to protect one's self and property with a firearm?

I can't wait.

You're damn right I am! So tell me, how are you going to protect yourself and your loved ones without a firearm?

I don't know if you live in The United States, but if you do....

The last time I checked, it wasn't called "The Bill Of Needs". Its called, "The Bill Of Rights". It is our Right to protect ourselves, our families, and to the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. Not dying at the hands of someone that has no regard for me, or the law, does not make me happy.

If you choose to NOT defend yourself, or your family, and choose to wait for the police, that's your choice, exercise it all you want, but stay the hell out of my way, and back off of my rights, because I intend to exercise them to the fullest extent.

If you do not live in The United States, then we have nothing else to discuss, when it comes to the rights of Americans
