Thanks for sharing, Fox. This is an excellent Testimony to Christianity in America. And as both you and I know, Christianity's methods of controlling the masses are very to similar to Islam's, and Judea's. Perhaps the only difference is the money profits Christianity rakes in from its' willing subscribers.

correct me if im wrong, but dont you mean catholicsm?

Well Catholicism is just a branch of Christianity, like Sunni and Shi'ite are branches of Islam.

but isnt it catholicism that makes you donate? im not religious, but a few of my friends are christians. they have never donated to the church. yet, my best friend from little league was catholic. his family, it seemed they were under an obligation to donate to the church.

Not at all; there is no church existing of any denomination of Christianity that closes its' gaping jaws to free money, not to mention the profits from baptisms, weddings, etc.... I read an article on how faith based products such as "Jesus Candles," "Jesus saves" bumper stickers, and the like bring in so much money to God. If God existed, he may as well be the smartest fella out there. What better method than to control your followers with fear and the promise of salvation, all while making billions off them at the same time? :D GENIUS!:1orglaugh

i was thinking of starting my own religion. the church of metal
lol, heard of the 80's thrash metal band;Metal Church? you may want to check them out, but I must warn you the vocal style is very similar to King Diamond's.

btw, have you heard the vocalist from Mercyful Fate? He sounds just like King Diamond....:D

ive only seen catholics do that.sell jesus products . the christians that i know now have not even gone to church in a while. . and catholics are deeply devoted to it. i know they are basically the same, but i think catholicism demands more from you. thats just data ive gathered over the years.

Yea I think you have a good point there. Catholicism is probably the most dogmatic of all the Christian denominations. Of course, this is logical seeing as how Catholicism was the pre-cursor to Christianity itself. So really, Christianity is a denomination of Catholicism, and not the other way around. It's just called that because Christianity is more popular.

I don't really subscribe to one certain religion or anything, I guess more of an intelligent design theory type thing. As in the universe and human life is way too complex to have happened by accident. But a man in the sky who watches everything you do and punishes you when your bad and stuff...I can't really buy into that one.

Someone brought up the point of 'contributions' to the church.

I believe you gentlemen are refering to the pracitce of "Tithing" - Church members are asked to contribute ten percent (hence the origin of the term "Tithing") of their gross income to fund Church activities and expansion. While contributions are voluntary, tithing is required for a member to maintain good standing within the Church.

Tithing is not unique to Christians - Muslim practice a variation (I've forgotten the name) as do the Hindus (ofcourse, they call it something else - "Vratah").

That makes you a Deist.

I forgot to add:

Tithing is not always a uniform 10% - I believe the Mormon churches have varied tithing amounts. [Mormons are the only example I know off. There maybe others].

Assumptions are always a major issue ...

but isnt it catholicism that makes you donate? im not religious ... cut
And hence the problem many people have with "other religions." People make assumptions, from limited exposure to the religion being discussed, not knowing first-hand. Not trying to pick on you, it's quite common among many people -- non-religious as well people of religion commenting on another religion they don't know first-hand.

But for future reference, the Testament (the Old Testament from the Christian standpoint) states that followers will give a tenth of their income to the community -- the church/temple, the poor/charity, etc... Many Christian and Jewish denominations and churches use this as a guideline. It's still considered a voluntary one by even the most intrusive churches I've seen, as it's really a sign of belief as well as faith that the money will go to.

In fact, you shouldn't have a problem with the money, but where it goes to. Most churches here in the United States use donations far more effectively when it comes to helping the needy/poor than government, hence why I'd love to see the same level of scrutiny toward the government, an entity you don't really have a "choice" in when it comes to paying your taxes. ;)

Some churches collect separately for the poor/charity, some take it out of their membership donations, etc... It all depends. Even if a religion is organized, many come down to the local church, temple, etc... and the individual leaders of that church. Even in a large, organized religion, you often still have a choice of individual churches.

I personally don't believe in organized religion for myself, but can see the wisdom to some aspects of many spiritual beliefs practiced in many religions -- both very organized/heirarchial as well as lesser so.

from "cult" off slayers new album-

religion is hate
religion is fear
religion is war
religion is rape
religion's obscene
religion's a whore

makes sense to me.
