Cyber Bullying

Conspiracy...
Censorship makes people revolt.

Also, it's the person's responsibility to leave a site that is not to their liking.

"Choose life"? But, abortion is okay?

*I* don't understand the whole cyber bullying thing. How is it any different than someone yelling something bad about you in the cafeteria during lunch? You just disregard it.

On-line - just don't visit the sites where the postings are. If they are to your social media accounts, shut them down.

What am I missing?!

Only cyber bully I know is Will E Worm. He makes me call him big daddy when he talks down to me :(

Cyber-bullying is not like ONE person yellig at you in IN THE CAFETERIA. It's like HUNDREDS of people yelling at you WHEREVER you go. And what they yell at you is way more horrible than what people would yell in the cafeteria : They don't have to see you, to look at you in the eyes when they yell at you, they don't have to think about what other folks around them might think of what they say, how they could react, wether or not they would side with you so they can totally unleash and say the most horrific things that come to their mind.
And the mlan in the cafeteria will yell for 2-3 minutes but the people on social medias are gonna post horrible things for days, aybe even weeks or monthes.

Shuting down social medias can be a solution but to a teenager, that's almost impossible to shut down Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
And to some public figures who are known and appreciated for how they interract with fans on social medias (like August Ames), they can't afford to shut down social medias

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.

You really are a revolting waste of a human being. How in the fuck can you even compare these 2 scenarios? Other then the fact that you are a sad little pathetic troll, with a tiny dick, and a tinier brain. You truly deserve the hate you receive you get on this board.

Any maggoty ass waste of space, that hasn't got the inch of dick it takes to say something to your face, is in need of a serious beating....not a punch to the nose, and a kick to the ribs kind of beating, but a truly life altering, ball peen hammer to the skull, now you need a short bus to get around kind of slow transformation into special needs beating.

I agree, that you have the right to leave a site...but lets be realistic, that's not human nature....especially for a young person...more so for a child. To dismiss this type of behavior is no different then turning a blind eye to an assault, or rape.

They want more censorship and control.

We need to fight this until we win.

WHY is shutting down social media sooooooooo "impossible?!" I don't have ANY social media accounts. I communicate with people via the phone (imagine that!), e-mail, and SMS text. And the rare snail-mail letter / card.

So - again: what am I missing?!

You're not missing anything. You're just 25 years too old to understand why social medias are so important to teenagers
I don't understand why either. All I know is that they just can't shgut them down, they HAVE to bee on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)

It must be different for the young generation now

It must be. Also for older people who live their lives on social media. Living a fake life on Fakebook just isn't good for your head.

I've been into message boards and forums since the bulletin board and Compuserve days. But apart from flying off the handle and making a snarky comment when dealing with some lowbrow knucklehead here and there (and anymore, you couldn't pay me to get truly wound up or really give a shit about what other people say or think), I can't relate to people who have nervous breakdowns or kill themselves because of what some jackwad says or thinks about them. Hell, I deal with people in real life who hate me with a passion. And yet, two shits are not given.

IMO, people in many/most western nations have become overly whiny, hyper-sensitive and emotionally weak.

Bullshit! They don't have to be. They won't die. Trust me. My girlfriend's grandkids are not allowed to play on any of that goofy, pointless shit or have social media profiles. They're honor students, play sports and have friends. They're not social pariahs.

The people who have the mistaken belief that these accounts are somehow necessary or "must haves" are simply feeding into the herd/sheep mentality that is ruining the social fabric of our society(s).

An earlier study, in the U.S., which also had young people give up their phones, found that they performed worse on mental tasks when they were in “withdrawal,” and felt physiological symptoms, like increased heart rate and blood pressure. They also felt a sense of loss, or lessening, of their extended self—their phones.

It comes down to the parents limiting to prevent the braindead social media child. But sadly like in the past and now some parents use TV to babysit their children. Now it's tablets and phones and everything else being used and wonder why now...

I'm glad my mum only let me have an hour a day of TV growing up. And I'm definitely glad FB or anything else wasn't around too.

Some of us ask, "Why make a fuss about others talking shit about you?" or similar. Just don't listen, just walk by.

Today, for years, I am like that, too. But you obviously do not understand the mibndset of somebody who feels weak, alone, insecure, vulnerable. Add depression or other psychological staes of mind, and it is very easy to psuh somebody into a downward spiral. And this great new age of communication, there are so many more ways to harass and hurt people. And film or photograph it to further the pain.

The way to go is not just to say, "Hey, just ignore it". The way to go is to step in and stand by those who get targeted and make it stop.
