Convicted criminal President Donald Trump's Legacy

Fairly confident huh? Not sure what more convincing you would need, I think the last decade has been more than enough.

McConnell v Trump
https://thehill.com/homenews/the-memo/537060-the-memo-its-trump-vs-mcconnell-in-battle-for-gops-soul

I'm fairly confident the GOP sold its soul. The elephant is dead: It's a cult of personality.

To be fair the GOP hasn't really had a soul to sell since Theodore Roosevelt. If one is being very generous to them maybe since Eisenhower. Either way it's been a long ass time. It's also notable that they both would pretty much be considered RINOs by most of the party now.

I believe Reagan would be a RINO.

Ok. My wording was soft.

Fox news only cable news channel to not carry memorial of Brian Sicknick.

Fucking animals. Every one of them. I think it's perfectly reasonable to execute them all by firing squad. I find it unbelievable that a new fascist, anti-democracy party is taking shape in the birthplace of democracy and the systems, institutions, and opposition party seem helpless to stop it.

On the bright side, the DOJ is considering using RICO to nail these assholes to the wall. I doubt they'd be doing that out loud unless they were pretty confident in the case they have.

As the final 70 days of Trump's presidency unwind, it is time to begin thinking about his legacy. A fully-developed legacy takes time to evolve, but what are the early thoughts? No need to be all negative. There have to be some positives. 🤷‍♂️

The fact that Biden became president when Pennsylvania was called is fitting. James Buchanan - generally considered the worst president - is from Pennsylvania.

Trump's Presidency and the election can be discussed in the appropriate threads. This is about life after Trump.
Since 2015, when this asshole came down the escalator in my home city of NYC... he spouted deep-rooted bigotry lies about Mexicans and brought out to embolden the bigots, neo-nazi, and hardcore 2nd amendment overzealous monkey supporters in our nation. Putin picked the proper Monkey to lead "Planet Of The Idiot Apes" Just look at the video replay of his insurrection Speech on Jan. 6th... To place a dangerous environment into our great nation and in the world... Anyone that supports a Bigot like Trumputa for any public office, cannot complain that they aren't one themselves...

After voting to acquit Trump curing his first impeachment, Susan Collins (R-ME) said “I believe that the president has learned from this case. The president has been impeached. That’s a pretty big lesson.”

Collins is a lot like Murkowski: They pretend to be a 'swing' vote, but still tow the party line in the end. The only lesson Trump learned was that his cult will follow and bow down to him. It made him bolder. He created bigger lies and repeated them more often.

How's that for a lesson?

Yeah, there was some chatter about the republicans who acquitted on the first impeachment being held responsible for everything that he did after, but we're all still waiting for any republican to be held responsible for anything yet. That's why they keep getting away with bullshit like this:

They really do have a ton of confidence in the ignorance of their base. Even if you believe all the right wing bullshit, at some point wouldn't you feel like they're taking you for granted???

They raise funds off the ignorance by feeding the base 2A bullshit, fake religion, and anti-socialism. I'm not certain when owning a gun became the ultimate form of Patriotism though.

The best part of all of this freedom is the freedom to be the worst.
https://thehill.com/changing-americ...-in-worker-benefits-among-developed-countries

From the article: "Broad trends say that coastal states, such as California, Washington, Oregon, New York, Maine and Massachusetts offer better working conditions than states located in the South."

In general, redder states have worse working conditions, benefits, and protections. The Republicans are boasting about being the party of the working class, but they are letting companies walk over employees. AND - these 'workers' want more of it! WTF? I think anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of American history knows how well workers were treated in the Gilded Age.

trump is still hilariously pretending to be president. Apparently nobody around him is allowed to use the term "former president", they have to refer to him as the 45th president, and he's bought himself a limo that looks similar to the beast and is being driven around Florida trawling for attention. SAD!

And for anyone who still has the capacity to be surprised by republican hypocrisy:

Oh yeah, I heard about that. I hope he doesn't get a library. I've also heard chatter that intelligence mobs are planning to salt his intel briefs if he even gets them (as in, put incorrect info in them to see where that info shows up).

I hope Joe finds a way to strip him of every luxury and privilege enjoyed by other former presidents. And then toss the piece of shit in prison. Apparently it's just been reported that he committed federal wire fraud when he transferred campaign donation money into trump organization accounts, maybe he should have tried that blanket self pardon after all, might have been his best shot!

Many of us knew Obama wouldn't turn out well. But how disappointed are the supporters who dug in and shilled so hard for him having contests to see who could have the most Obama stickers on their cars and signs on their lawns? Many of those tears of joy have turned into tears of despair and division.

Hahaha, you know how there's always old trump tweets that make him look even stupider? I was checking out some of the old Obama is the worst/trump is the best threads and found this gem that's aged as well as anything trump himself ever uttered!

Perhaps this might do unless you folks think it is too big.
I personally believe he should get one, since it will be a repository for future researchers. Maybe they can have an exhibit showing all of his mistresses? A special Stormy Daniels viewing room. Maybe some of Melania's early work can be on display.

The Little Free Library may be a little spacious though.

The legacy needs to be passed down to the children.

A Politico reporter spent 11 hours watching OAN: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2021/02/07/oan-trump-network-11-hours-466134

The commercial breaks, however, provided ... a hint that OAN is not prepared to let Trump go, not even for generations. One commercial encouraged viewers to purchase a set of illustrated picture books for their children—The Kids’ Guide to Donald Trump, Celebrate Our Liberty, and a link for a free video lesson called “Great Again.”

On an iPad, the app showed a picture of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington administering the Oath of Office to Trump. “To learn more and order the Kids’ Guide to President Trump gift bundle, just go to FreeTrumpGuide.com,” said the cheerful narrator, directing me straight to a website featuring its author — Mike Huckabee, of all people."

Our history is great again. No need to talk about the bad stuff.
James Baldwin said it best: “American history is longer, larger, more various, more beautiful, and more terrible than anything anyone has ever said about it.”

Mehdi Hasan: There Is No GOP Civil War—The Greene Party Won

I like Mehdi Hasan. He covers for Chris Hayes sometimes and he always does a good job.

So fucking sick of hearing repubs say he can't be impeached because he's no longer president. HE WAS IMPEACHED ON JANUARY 13TH. This is the TRIAL. Even dogshit stupid republicans know that. Fuck they're infuriating.

General opinion seems to be that trump's defense is as rambling and incoherent as the man himself. Maybe they just don't give a fuck, because they know there's enough senators who have no intention of fulfilling their oath, and everyone knows he's guilty, so why bother putting in effort when you know there's going to be zero return?
