lol that's a bit racist. America is made up of every race from blacks, whites and Asians, etc. Are you saying that all these ethncities are stupid? Well after all, America did invent computers, internet, aircrafts, and cars.. just about every modern thing we use today and 80% of Nobel prize winners are American. They must be stupid! hahahahaha
First of all, I am an unapologetic elitist who likes Bill Maher & can actually talk and relate to people from all walks of life! Second of all, I don't think that I am smarter than, and know more than anyone. I KNOW that I am smarter & know more than the vast majority of people! That is something that I am proud of! I can formulate MY OWN opinions, I am capable of rational thought & reasoning ability, and I can back my opinions up! I do respect opinions that differ from mine, but only when people can actually back their opinions up. Finally, I am not afraid to speak up when I disagree with someone (though I am growing to realize that too often it is a waste of time, because you can't reason with people who lack the ability to reason.....and often don't know why they think something to begin with). Sadly, too often people are spoonfed "their" opinions, and in reality they can't even back them up.....because they don't even really know what they ate saying! I have been tested, and my IQ is in the genius range, and I am a proud member of MENSA! Does that mean I won't sit down and drink a beer with someone? Though I am not a big drinker, I would sit down for a beer with someone.....I just wouldn't want to be led by someone I would want as a drinking buddy.....see the poll they did during the two Bush campaigns.......ha ha ha!
I'm not sure where Bill Maher went to school, but I went to Penn State, and graduated with a 3.98 GPA (ok, I'm not perfect, and I NEVER claim to be, I got 2 A-'s my 1st semester.....but all A's the rest of the way!). However, depending on their grades, I would certainly respect someone with an Ivy League education! Now people such as George W. Bush, and John Kerry, who were C students at Ivy League institutions are harder to respect because that is like a D or F student at a "lesser" institution. It would be hard for someone to not see that George W. Bush isn't exactly the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree!
As for Americans being stupid......I believe our actions speak for themselves! You cite the few exceptions as evidence to the contrary. Of course there are smart people in America, I like to believe I am one of them! However, it is hard to argue against the fact that the majority of Americans (regardless of race) are not exactly bright, and they tend to be poorly educated. Much of the problem is based in upbringing & opportunity. The other factors are genetics, and effort to become educated. Based on where I grew up, not factoring in genetics, I should be a poorly educated, a right winger, a racist, and a hypocritical religious nut! I am none of those things, thankfully!
Did Americans invent a number of important things? Of course we did! Where are they made today & who profits mainly from those inventions today? Well it sure as Hell isn't America and Americans! Sadly, today most Americans are underqualified to do a job where the hardest thing is asking if you "want fries with that" For fun, I took the citizenship test that immigrants (you know, those dirty undesirables who are milking our great nation dry.....too much sarcasm?) take to become US citizens. I passed with flying colors! However, I guarantee 95% of our flag waving, apple pie Americans would FLUNK in flying colors (red, white, and blue.....and all other colors too). Instead of learning things, too many Americans are too busy denying science FACT, believing in fairy tales, watching mindless drivel that passes as "reality" tv, making celebrities out of people who lack any decernible talents, building up would be politicians who clearly lack intelligence, taking their marching orders from ENTERTAINERS who pass themselves off as conservatives (for pay), remaking or rebooting every movie under the sun (even tv shows now....hello Hawaii Five-O) because we lack any ORIGINAL ideas. Christ, even the porn "industry" is making parodies of everything under the sun too! When fuck and suck films run out of ideas and they have to resort to "stealing" ideas from Hollywood.....then my friends....Houston, we have a problem (Hell I figured I might as well get into the act)! I guess it isn't a coincidence that the same writers who wrote for I Love Lucy in the 50's, were still writing for shows in the 90's! I guess they died, and all ORIGINAL ideas died with them! My God, they are making a movie based on the game Battleship.......BATTLESHIP!!!! Have we sunk low enough yet?
And I believe the days of America bring the leader on the breakthrough front are numbered too, in large part due to our reliance on fairy tales! Stem cell research is an area that I see major medical breakthroughs coming out of! Due to all of the stink being raised by the religious right, it will be other nations that give humanity it's next treatments & cures! Sadly, it seems like many Americans are content with saying we are #1 based on things we did 50+ years ago, and the belief that standing during the National Anthem at sporting events makes you an uber Patriot......even if they couldn't even pass the citizenship test!
