Millions of £ spent for such useless stuff while english economy is so bad (as for all europeans countries), it's shocking, insane, insulting for alla those people having hard time to live with minimum wages...
there's at least one thing for wich England should take example on France : We got rid of royalty.

Well maybe because I am American and just fascinated by the Royal Family, I think its awesome, and sometimes a country just needs to take a break and have some fun an show some solidarity as a country. I feel bad that Prince Philip is ill and missing it all with the Queen. Some day I am so going to visit and Enjoy the England, and not just run thru Heathrow on a layover, lol.

An example to us all: Archbishop of Canterbury pays tribute to the Queen's selfless service but can't help hijacking ceremony to preach sermon on city greed, the environment and immigration

* Dr Rowan Williams brought up financial greed in the city as he addressed the Royals and politicians

* The Queen attended the service alone after the Duke of Edinburgh was taken to hospital with a bladder infection

* Tens of thousands of well-wishers lined the route from Buckingham Palace to cheer the Queen

* Monarch’s dress made of fine silk tulle accessorised with mint chiffon drape

* Royal party left to have lunch at Westminster Hall before procession

Gotta disagree. Like I said before, the Royal Family is a money maker. They draw money to charities and welcome heads of state. The Prime Minister doesn't have to do that shit and can concentrate on running the country. Yea there's the pomp and pageantry but that is in the budget. They have guards that have those fluffy hats as show uniforms. I'm sure they don't get paid THAT much. They are paid to put on a show and I think it works.

Bob.

I never bothered my big fat hairy arse with the whole thing. I had better things to keep me occupied. I don't even know of anyone locally that celebrated the charade.

Is somewhere outhere.
I only saw an Englishman living in Skye with Union Jacks hanging out of his Range Rover, and there were Highland bands playing in Portree. But
other than that there wasn't as much happening,I think the same will happen when the Olympics come along.

Why save the world, when you can rule it?
If the assassination attempt was unsuccesful then I want my money back.
Also, how come the Navy has the cash to use a warship to celebrate queeny living (think Philip celebrated much? Fucking Cretan bastard) when the Navy uses it's money in such a way that the DUTCH (OF ALL FUCKING PEOPLE!) possess a better Navy?

Nothing other than take up space and leach off of the income people bring to the country. Oh yes and she gets a free tv license as well. Everyone else has to pay £146 or so each year for the thing. While she gets it for fuck all. Some complain about people living on benefits (state benefits if your in the US) but the fact is the Royals do it more and use more of that sort of cash than those unemployed ever will. The Royals are a drain on the ecconomy. Not the unemployed. What most people spend for a weeks worth of food wont even do one single meal for most Royals.
