Birthday traditions?

Hello. It's my birthday today, and I'm about to go for a few beers and game of darts in the local with some close friends. It's something of a tradition. At tea time, I'm going for a KFC, which is also somewhat of a habit. Usually I'd go out for a drink and a curry on the Saturday nearest the day itself but my best mate had a house party on Saturday instead, so I'm going for my birthday curry tomorrow night with extended family instead.

( There used to be something else I did every birthday, but we broke up. )

It made me realize what a creature of habit I am. I was just wondering, do any of you have any birthday traditions? Anything from little things you always choose to do without fail, to a whole day's activities? Or is every one different?

i can usually count on a bj. other than that, im not real into it. besides, after bjs, what else is there?

i guess you can also count on me trying to get out of cake and the birthday song. i dont want cake but my girl forces it on me. and the song... god i hate that song.

To me its just another day that goes by, unless its the 30th, 40th and so on then I try to have a huge party.
Usually one day during my birthday week going out with friends for a few beers and joints is all I need.
I eat cake all the time so dropping some candles in it doesnt make it any special.

I'm usually working on my birthday. I've had one birthday off in the past 12 years. No matter, though; I'm not a big birthday fan. I don't really see what's so special about a birthday. Essentially you're celebrating, what? The passage of time? The fact that the earth completed another ellipse around the sun since you were born? I see it as an ordinary day: the sun rises in the east, daily life goes on everywhere, and the day is 24 hours long. I usually forget it's my birthday until I start getting calls and text messages about it.

I'm not a big birthday person, I lost my taste for parties soon after I aged into my double digits. The only thing I really try to do is have a dinner with my family and acquiesce when they insist on singing "Happy Birthday" and serving cake.
