Best Guitar Solo

I know this one may be unheard of - Funkadelic's "Maggot Brain."
If it's the song I'm thinking of, there is no singing, just 2 guitars. I didn't know it was by Funkadelic. Thanks, great chioce

I would say (in no particular order):
"Lonely is the Word" by Black Sabbath
"Tales of Brave Ullysees" (the live version) by Cream
"Stairway to Heaven" (from The Song Remains the Same) by Led Zeppelin

A radio station here in Cleveland, Ohio has played that every Saturday night at like 1 or 2 AM since forever. I have driven home many nights in a sorry state with that tune on the radio in my younger days. George Clinton was just here Sunday night at our new House of Blues.

Cool topic...

Peter Frampton's guitar performance in "Do You Feel Like We Do" on the "Frampton Comes Alive" album was electrifying. Skynyrd's live version of "Freebird" should not be overlooked too.

In the studio, Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile" was a groundbreaker. "More Than A Feeling" by Boston should also get a respectful nod for having an influential guitar solo.

But I think Chuck Berry should get credit for most important guitar solo in "Johnny B Goode". That song showed that a guitar could be jut as important as vocals in a rock and roll hit song.

I can't finish this post without paying respect to Eddie Van Halen too. To pick his best is extremely difficult, but I'll go with "Everybody Wants Some" as his best solo... not technically his most difficult, but it just fit the song so right.

ok
because i m a guitar player i ll tell you this!
there are a lot of great solos in rock and metal music
my opinion is that the best solos are played by Petrucci(Dream Theater)
Also Mustaine,Friedman,Hammett(in hir early years),etc,etc
Of cource we can t forget the teachers : Satriani,Vai,Malmsteen, even Santana
That s all!!!!!!

Good point Aggelo's i also play guitar and think Joe Satriani is one of the master's especially on surfing with the alien, i would probably agree with the Jimi Hendrix national anthem solo aswell, Eric Clapton is a little over rated but still a good guitarist.

of course durty dog!
i forgot the no1!Jimi Hendrix!!!!!
as for the best solo you have to listen Hangar 18(Megadeth) and you ll hear what the word solos mean!!!!!!!!

Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page)-Heartbreaker (Live) and also Stairway to Heaven (I still get chills from the solo)
The Who (Pete Townshend)-Won't Get Fooled Again
Cream (Eric Clapton)- Tales of Brave Ullyses
Jimi Hendrix- Hey Joe
AC/DC (Angus Young)-If You Want Blood
Alice in Chains (Jerry Cantrell)-Dam That River
The White Stripes (Jack White)-Screwdriver
The Black Keys (Dan Auerbach)-Stack Shot Billy

And any Robert Johnson or Son House song cause they both majorly kickass at guitar.

`wanna hear 2 guitars cry.... tri Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck... Since we parted as Lovers... Secret Policemans Other Ball... 'nuff said

anything from hendrix, i would say voodoo child is prolly my fav.

I'd have to agree with Lightning on the Boz Scaggs tune with Duane Allman.

One that still gives me freakin' chills when I hear it is , Clapton doing "Don't Think Twice, it's Alright" on The concert for Bob Dylan CD. I seriously think it's one of the highpoints of his career...

Anything that Michael Houser ever played. Thank you brother.
