Thats an urban myth, why would we want to drink warm beer its idiotic.

I have 2 friends, one full Brit, he sets his beer on the counter for at least a 1/2 hr. before consuming and the other 1/2 Brit on his mothers side would rather drink it warm out of the box. Maybe it's just them...

In my corner of the great Isle ears are called Tabs ;) and more than a few welsh words get intermingled into the usual english slang...

I know that in El Salvador they also drink their beer at room temperature. I wonder why the similarities.

^ What's a central reservation? Is that what you guys call the central divider on a road? By tailback, do you mean a traffic congestion? A tailback is a position in football that's similar to a running back.

Aye right in both cases, a tailback is congestion... for example the M4 motorway (highway I guess for you) becomes a 100 mile long car park every morning due to tailbacks.

Must be just them :dunno:

Certainly not in my house. Or most people ive ever met.

Beer goesin the fridge, maybe at parties its left on the side so everyone can grab one?

Historicaly, beer (or lager) is drunk in winter, so you wouldn't want it too cold.

Bloody means covered in blood, so it follows that it is probably a bad thing, like being damned (to hell).

The motorways are more like interstates, with several lanes on each side.

And what is an English Muffin? Do you have scones in the US? Are they similar? :helpme: Also, what is the difference between jam and jelly? That one's had me puzzled for years. :wave2:

An English muffin is a kind of pastry, well, not really a pastry, as it's not sweet, but more like a kind of hockey-puck-shaped bread that's typically used for breakfast. People usually put butter and jelly or honey on them. We have scones in the US, but they're sweet, whereas English muffins are unflavored.

That one's easy. I've never heard James Brown jelly, but I sure as hell have heard him jam!

Seriously, though, from my understanding, jam is more solid than jelly. Jellies tend to be somewhat runny, whereas jams are sort of like butter just out of the fridge.

Milwall as a football club still do have a very bad reputation. Nowadays they lie in league 1 [the 3rd division down] and play in front of less than 10,000. I think their "bark is worse than their bite" nowadays.

The 70's and 80's was awful for football violence in England.Nowadays it's a problem in other countries moreso than England.

Off the topof my head, the Aston Villa "Zulu army" and Chelsea headhunters are still going, but they are all closely linked with far right political parties like the NF , BNP and combat 18 more than football.

Most of the world is right-handed. So why do you guys drive on the left side of the road and put the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car?

Don't quote me on this, but I think it's something to do with Napoleon being left handed, so he walked on the right side of the road to stop his sword banging into people (Brits walked on the left, as you say most were right-handed). So maybe all these countries drive on the right just to prove they are not part of the British Empire, which was pretty huge back in the day (you will notice "friendlier" countries, like Japan and Australia, still drive on the left). It's just a well known theory, I don't know if it's really true. :wave2:

Serious question, do Americans like the English accent?
Why yes ! Americans can be absolutely captivated by a more dignified sounding spoken "UK-ish" accent.
It always sounds more authoritative and attracts a better listening audience, IMO. An English accented salesman could sell fireballs in hell !! lol !

Don't expect the untraveled American to know the difference between an N.Irish and a London accent ! That takes time !

toe jelly just doesn't have the right ring to it

A UK-ish accent ( IMO) has nothing to do with captivating me. Dignified? puleeze... An intelligent spoken word captivates my attention, and has nothing to do with accent.

There are more countries than you think that drive on the left.

UK
Ireland
Cyprus
Malta
Gibraltar
Australia
New Zealand
Most of the Islands of the South Seas
Japan
Malaysia
South Africa
Other African Commonwealth countries
Most of the Islands in the Caribbean
Thailand (?)

Why so "bloody" ?
Is the use of this termed derived from the game of rugby . . ?

Not as far as I'm aware. Rugby can sometimes become a bloody encounter between the two sides - they're not wearing all that namby-pamby body cushions those oh-so butch Grid Iron players wear. :1orglaugh

Okay, the reason for this is that back in the day, people had to carry swords for personal protection. As the vast majority of people are right-handed, it's easier to have your sword hanging by your left leg so you can draw it with your right (try it and see). Therefore when you drew your sword you had most protection on the right - so people walked down the road on the left, as they were better able to protect themselves this way. Our steering wheels are on the right because it works better that way. Think how difficult driving would be for you guys if you swapped the wheel over...

This is also the reason that waiters serve from the left - a friend or unarmed person would approach you from the left.
