Gonna suck, but I bet they'd do it on purpose, If they racially profile Chica!

I've known quite a few attractive females over the years that were pulled over for various dubious things. Bottom line in my city - white, black, latino, asain - if you're out at certain times you are going to get fucked with. I'm white and I've been fucked with for nonsense reasons before (backward cap, loud bass poundin' from the trunk). :)

No one addresses the issue of why these immigrants are illegal in the first place. Do you think it is convenient for them NOT to have an I.D. card or Social Security number? Do you think they want to be here illegally? The truth is, getting citizenship is not as easy as just applying for it. It takes years, and i mean 10 to 20 or more sometimes, for some people to even get their applications looked at, then they may be turned down because they are not wealthy enough, or don't have any family in the states or a variety of other reasons. Would any of you wait that long to move to another country if you were in need of more opportunities for work to support your family? So instead of hunting down everyone without citizenship and deporting them, why don't we help them acquire their citizenship so the can be her legally? What's the problem with that? We are all human beings sharing the same world, so what give one human the power to tell another one "you can't come to this part of the earth, it's mine." Peace

:confused::confused::confused:

It's called sovereignty. There is a reason you control who and how many enter your country. There is a reason why it takes so long and it's not as simple as filling out an application. There is no right to US citizenship nor being here.

Because the task of getting US citizenship is intentionally and necessarily arduous isn't a reason to flout the law and invade.

The US should do everything it can to stop people from coming and being here illegally....EXCEPT violate the rights of it's citizens in the effort.

There's this little thing called sovereignty. The bottom line is that these people violated that sovereignty and broke the law. Period. These aren't things we in the first world should take lightly. Never mind the fact that their culture is so terribly at odds with ours. We know what LaRaza wants after all...:nono:

I understand what you are saying about sovereignty, but if you really think about human rights and what they should be, any person should be able to travel or live in any part of the world they want. I understand there has to be procedures and processes to go through before that can happen, but everyone should have the opportunity to do this if they choose. It is no ones world to rule. Sadly the world doesn't quite work like that. I don't condone "invading" U.S. or any other country, but if people keep getting turned down for citizenship or ignored it will keep happening. Once again I am not condoning illegal immigration, I am just exploring the reasons why it is happening. Maybe we need to change our system a little bit, obviously something needs to change, I just don't think this law is the answer. And Bloodshot Scott, what culture isn't at odds with ours in some way or another? lol

Other cultures aren't openly stating they want to take back a portion (the southwest) like Mexico though. Face it, the radical Latino culture of the southwest basically made a statement of war against America and I didn't find a lot of Latino leaders saying anything on record that this statement was inflamatory. No wonder why Anglos are so upset about this.

I think you're just imagining that.

Some radicals believe that but should we judge all people by the most radical among them. In general the people who migrate from south of our border to the US do so for work.

There are Americans who espouse some pretty inflammatory and radical things should everyone like them have their motivations judged on the basis of what the radicals say?

Well, there was that and the massive immigration rallies that happened a few years ago. The hundreds and hundreds of thousands of illegals waving a foreign flag was quite clearly to me another in a long line of inflamatory stuff from the South American hordes. This is a consistant theme with these aliens.

Well said Mega

They can get their basic human rights in their own country...and if it doesn't exist...come to America and GET LEGAL!!
This is why I brought up how hard it is to get citizenship. A lot of people think it is a piece of cake, but it's really not that simple. It's the underlying problem. If it was that easy there would be no illegal immigrants and there would be no reason for this new law. So why don't we look into that problem area instead of putting a band aid over it by making a law like this.

Because simply put America is a big enough country already. We are also the most diverse country on the planet. We don't need more of it. 300 million plus and counting. It's a far big enough country already. We also can barely take care of our own at this point, and lefties want to save the world.

I won't debate your conclusions on how 'big" America is and how much more it can take as your conclusions are obviously irrefutable.

But with respect to your diversity claim, what does it matter how "diverse" the country is as long as it's people share in the same principles and values for which the country was founded?

Frankly, it seems the flag toting ninnies are appearing more so to be the one's who don't believe in the values for which our nation was founded. Or they sit around cherry picking the ones they believe are worth defending.

They know 1 or 2 phrases from the constitution and swear they are professional patriots. More like another word which ends with "..iots" IMO.

Since all the sources I have that point to the tremendous burden illegal aliens have on America's infrastructure, I suspect you would not spend the time on them. You can however Google "Immigration impact on the United States infrastructure" to get started. You will be busy for days with the plethora of valid sources that point out how burdensome it is, however. ;) It's more than ironic that California - one of the worst states impacted by illegals - have been a complete and total drain. It's not rocket science.

There are two things I believe with respect to this subject.

1.) The US should all it constitutionally can to protect it's borders. To expel those who shouldn't be here and keep the one's trying to get here illegally out. No matter what they look like or where they are coming from.

2.) The US should never encroach on the rights it's constitution guarantees it's citizens without the clearly defined cause and exceptions in our laws.

That said, I am personally not affected by illegal immigration. Are you? If so, how so?

You say it's been a drain on California...people have been coming to California illegally for decades. There is a specific drain now besides the "drain" all states and most of the word is experiencing today?

I'm personally affected by illegal immigrants, they are the ones who cut the grass in my apartment complex.:D

And for just some historical perspective, the idea that immigrants would change america is a very old one.

The idea that the immigrants are unwilling to assimilate and adopt our anglo culture fully is nothing new at all. That is what happened when we let all those Italian and Irish in a century ago and they refused to become good protestants like the rest of us and clung to listening to some foreigner (the pope) as to what they should think and believe in.My grandfather a native born american of protestant Irish roots always talked about how the "C"s were ruining the country.

We are way to late to save america for a white anglo saxon protestant culture, needed to not bring over all those slaves and let all those ethnic catholics in (which the mexicans are just another variety of btw) to ever have any chance of doing that.

But I must say that in general I think the idea that any of these wave of immigrants (Irish,Italian, mexicans etc) have not been overwhelmingly people who have come to find economic opportunity and a better life and work very hard when they get here does not stand up to scrutiny.I may not be thrilled with some of their culture (the catholic church) but besides that they are good people.;)

Alabama gives police power to arrest illegal immigrants on sight in toughest law yet

* And it's even against the law to give one a ride

NEW LAW: KEY POINTS

* Police must detain someone they suspect of being in the country illegally if the person cannot produce proper documentation when stopped for any reason.

* It will be a crime to knowingly transport or harbour or provide housing for someone who is in the country illegally.

* Penalties will be imposed on businesses that knowingly employ someone without legal resident status. A company's business licence could be suspended or revoked.

* The law requires Alabama businesses to use a database called E-Verify to confirm the immigration status of all new employees.

* Public schools must determine, by review of birth certificates or sworn affidavits, the legal residency status of students. Schools in the state must publish figures on the numbers of immigrants who are enrolled in school.

No one is talking about immigrants, it is about illegal aliens. I have no problem with anyone coming to the US legally. I have a problem with people that disrespect the laws of this country and illegally cross into the US. Then they cry they want to same rights because they are in the country. Anyone that is here illegally needs to be deported period.

There also needs to be a better system of immigration in the first place. A lot of people who want to come here to better their lives don't want to or can't wait 5+ years to do so.

Our nation is one of immigration and we should have a good system in place to find people that are willing to play by the rules and getting them into the country efficiently.

For instance:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/body/quinones-hinojosa.html
http://columbiacritic.blogspot.com/2007/03/illegal-immigrant-becomes-world.html

"We had no food. We had no place to live," he said. "I went from pulling weeds to pulling tomatoes, to picking cotton loops to picking grapes."

Why couldn't we get him here ourselves?

Aside from all the ignorant, racist posts on this thread, (you people really are assholes,) there is a very good argument that we need to enforce immigration laws because when people are here illegally it opens them up to exploitation, not to mention creates an unfair advantage to the businesses that employ them.

Clearly there are going to be some issues with racial profiling, and I'm not an expert on the details of this particular law, but it's hard to argue it's not best for everyone when everything's above board, including migrant labor.
