Like many others above I too am surprised, disappointed and disgrunted. If anything eliminate the goddam rep thread in the games section - that's where much of the ***** has taken place. If this does go through then I'm done spending my time ferreting out links to help improve the database here.

As I've mentioned several times over, this is a work in progress. It's always been the intention by FO for reptuation to be connected to My Freeones. It's just that it's now become possible rather than when it was first brought to the board.
If another fix can be thought up between now and then to help balance rep points and freeones points, then we'll do so. As it is, the date that we're going to reset is being pushed back a bit as is.

What feedback and from who? People who haven't been here that long and don't give out rep like some of the long time faithful members?
Or...the ones that never post in the talk, game, or funny pictures forums?
The feedback must be from the minority or newbies.
The rep points part don't bother me but posts back to zero would.I want that shirt and am less than 2000 away!:eek:
On most forums post/reputation being reset wouldn't matter (at least not to people who actually like to contribute, not the people who just 'collect' points and posts) But here it matters to everyone because these things really have a meaning. (5000 posts gets you a t-shirt and rep points turn into MyFreeones points etc) It adds a good sense of 'accomplishment' and I really like that.
Also the rep I have recieved means something because I love to hear positive feedback from my posts, even negative if its constuctive, but I haven't had any negative rep at all here so far which makes me feel really good
. So to lose all that we have 'worked' for and have it all set back to 0 would be really sad, especially for people who have been here for a while.. At least in my opinion.

I dialed back my rep lately because I seem to "max out" my rep for the day after dishing it out to 2 people. Before, I could rep about 10 or 15 people, which I liked. I hope it will go back to the latter.
I dole out "rep" to people whom I feel earn it. I rarely dole out negative rep, except in the case a douchbag totally annoys me.
I won't really care if you take it back to ZERO in order to "level the playing field." I agree with Brodie. Delete the "Rep the person above you" or any "Rep game" threads. Those are lame anyways...

Add My name to those that are shocked and awed about the recent and upcoming Rep Level adjustments. I enjoy giving out rep stones, for particularly good posts in the Talk area and especially in the Babes area, and I also adore receiving them. At one point I was close to a million rep...then it was close to a thousand...now I am in the 500's again...
Eliminate rep games, have a per-day cap of how much rep that one could share, and/or make MyFreeOnes Points unrelated to rep... then I think the ***** will stop, and those that didn't ***** the system can enjoy the entirety of the FreeOnes board again.

I don't know why everyone gets so hung up about their rep totals.
It's not as if you're getting prizes for more rep, it's just a number.... and leave the post count as it is.
If it is going to be reset, why not do it on a monthly basis...then we can see who has contributed the most.

Rep was originally brought to this board for fun. I know as like others, I was here when it started.
It did actually start that way too, that is till some members need the attention when the congrats threads started. (These was merged into that big thread in the games section when to many popped up. Like the post congrats might end up doing too.) Jod0565 the ultimate fun maker was just about always out in front because no one had a bad word for him. He posted everywhere, links, funny pictures, jokes, board games, etc. So everyone knew him and liked his magnetic personality. But there was some members who didn't like this. So they started their little rep clubs. Then there was the ones who moaned if you didn't rep them back like they had just repped you. It became a contest, just like it still is to some.
So actually conecting it to something is a bigger still mistake. It still causes problems now been so called fun. What is it going to be like making serious?
So I still say getting rid of it would be a better option than linking it to anything important.
But that is what the rep will be becoming Tunsty. Something you get prizes for by linking it to MyFreeOnes. As the more rep you get, the more points, which makes more prizes. Which is going to create more of the rep clubs and I repped you, why haven't you repped me back fallouts.

But that doesn't work either. Take someone who posts say links. Doesn't matter if 99% of them are reposts, some will still rep them for it. But they haven't contributed anything new, the person who put it up originally did. But they was too lazy to check back to see if it was posted before. The person who repped them for posting and not the person who put the original link up was also too lazy to check back. So the person who actually deserves the rep doesn't get it, just the copier.

pretty much agree, but people will still cycle and rep their buddies over and over. it sucks since I don't just pass it out either, and its annoying when I have to find others rather than repping the same person for two different posts from different threads.
BUT, at least we have some sort of system here. . . so its better than nothing. its always said easier than done.
Not really bothered about rep, but the freeones points being set back to 0 is a touch painful.

It was a great idea really, we were all just kidding around...
I used to contribute links in the Vid board a lot. I hardly ever got rep'd for that and I stopped rep'ing people for links because most were reposts or most I didn't think were all that worthy of rep. There's about 5 posters who post a ton of links (Thorsif, Milf Man etc) and I do rep them but I've certainly clicked more on their links then rep them. I won't rep someone under 100 unless they have a great post or post some links that blow me away.
We have to have a rep system in place. I can see the want from the Board Mods to link it to the Greater Freeones Universe...it's their board, they should be free to do what they want with it.
I can always adjust my "routine" or go someplace else if the changes don't suit me.
