A Senseless War Begins Its 10th Year

I was a supporter of the Afgan war for long time. But at some point we need to rethink the strategy.
Our history in Afghanistan seems to be based on over simplification. We try to look at as a good guy bad guy thing, but that’s not what is happening. It is NOT TALIBAN/Al Qaeda vs. the “good guys” struggle.

We want to see the war as a struggle between (relatively) “Moderate” Muslims and “Extremist” Muslims. The war seems to have evolved into an ethnic struggle between several ethnic groups. (Tajik, Pushtun, Hazara & Uzbek are the largest) The help coming from Pakistan is more based on supporting fellow Pashtun’s than it is ideological. NATO has inserted itself into a quagmire of a Civil War and I think we are past the point where we ask, is it worth it?

I’m not being “Anti-American” or soft because I think it’s about time to bring troops home.

Really? Using Michael Moore as a source is about as credible as using Jerry Falwell; both will get recognition from a few extremist kooks, but will get scoffed at by the majority.

Equating Michael Moore to Jerry Falwell is asinine and as usual Fox News viewers here cannot say nothing intelligent nor credible in regards to Michael Moore so that's why they resort to petty personal attacks.

Michael Moore, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, etc. are great and credible alternative sources for information for those of us who are open minded and who aren't glued to Fox News

Why save the world, when you can rule it?
More US bashing from the people who need us most.

How quaint.

That's right, the us can do just fine without the rest of the world. Isolationism was a success. You need the world and the world does not need you; it is merely easier to take down china without you than with you.

More arrogance from a nation that still thinks it took care of the second world war.

How quaint.
 Couldn't have said it better. Lets not forget which nation killed the most Nazis.

We did. We saved your butts.:hatsoff:

Go ahead vodka see if you can take China all by yourself. We'll stay by the phone.

I love how absolutely, unapologetically absurd you are. I'm really starting to grow fond of you and your lunacy.

Also:

You mean like this ultra-intelligently articulated piece? :1orglaugh

Meanwhile the Pakistanis are deperately trying to get the Taliban to call for a ceasefire in order to salvage what's left.

What a crock of shit....Been reading such dung for the past 10 years....Funny how a supposed defeated force can organize itself enough to fuck with supply convoys.

PS> The west will be leaving this theatre with its legs tucked between its legs.....Its only a question of "when"....Then years later historians debunk the whole thing and find out what it was really about.....Oil? Poppy fields? Population control? ectera ectera. Oh yea and the ruskies can say "I told you"

@Plumprump:
You saying Jon Stewart and Bill Mauer are biased in favor of liberals?
If so, you are the ridiculous one here.

Ummm...so the people that are against Michael Moore...do you have any reason you continue to support the conflicts in Afghanistan because I haven't heard to any good reasoning for it on this thread?

Enjoy your private world! Never listen to anyone. Believe you're always correct. Forget that you were the last to enter the war. Remember the attack on your own soil as though it was far more heinous then occupation for years.

End of the discussion for me, you've entirely proved my point. Trident1 on the ignore list. wooooo!

The U.S. needs to get out of the business of being Big Brother before it's too late...

Hey buddy. I'm curious. You love to start hundreds of threads of political complaints/arguements - but what have you done to help? What I mean is that you are so dedicated to these threads, but you can focus that dedication into a way that can be benificial. I'd hate to think that someone with such strong opinions wastes it all on a porn forum. I know you're not the only one. The same can be said for a few other people here as well. :dunno:

The horrible attack that destroyed the World Trade Centers gave us--the U.S.--this: two essentially unwinable wars, tens of thousands dead, a crippled economy, political infighting justifying or condemning, and no let up to the hate-filled anger against the West. This type of scenario is older than any fucking political candidate around today. So what they say means dick. Maybe somebody outside of the politicalindustrialweaponry elite can make sense of this, find its roots, and do something...before Christ has no choice but to intervene. BTW...I am not a religious man. I'm just out of explanations.

I find this interesting - You think the attack on September 11 demanded a war in both Iraq and Afghanistan? I think there were some knee-jerk reactions that pulled the US into at least one of those wars.

I know very few Americans who feel that both (and most don't feel either) wars were justified whatsoever by the attacks on September 11.
