The Constitution says no.
like we always obey the constitution.
the declaration of independence does give us that whole right to rebel if the government begins to trample upon our unalienable rights, it doesn't include an except the usa clause, rather it says "...whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these end, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Governments..."
HE HIT A POLICE OFFICER WITH HIS CAR WHEN HE TRIED TO RUN HIM OVER AND KILL HIM.
I'm not saying that these officers shouldn't have been punished, but they did what ANYBODY would do in that situation. If somebody ran over your mother, father, brother, sister, wife, husband or best friend and you caught up to them, I'm willing to bet that you would kick the shit out of them too, whether they were conscious or not.
My thoughts:
The guy they beat HIT A POLICE OFFICER WITH HIS CAR WHEN HE TRIED TO RUN HIM OVER AND KILL HIM. To expect that the police officers that were chasing him were going to go easy on him is just completely unrealistic. It was all in the heat of the moment and adrenaline-driven. I'm willing to bet that the officers who beat this guy either had no idea he was unconscious or just didn't care to pay attention to that sort of thing. I mean, after all, HE HIT A POLICE OFFICER WITH HIS CAR WHEN HE TRIED TO RUN HIM OVER AND KILL HIM.

I hold elected officials, government agents, the military, and officers of the law to a higher standard. If they can't control themselves they don't need to be officers of the law. If any of those people abuse their authority or if they break serious laws in the line of their duty they need to be locked up for a very long time. That's all there is to it.
I have no sympathy whatsoever for this asshole. All the innocent people he put in danger that day running from the police officers.
I'd like to give my :2 cents: And this mostly relates to the 5 officers incident in Alabama.
There is obviously a two sided debate as whether what happen was right or wrong, but I think the problem that is mislooked is the mentality of police officers. It seems that people always assume that police officers should be programmed a certain way, shape, and form like robots. But the reality is, they are just human beings like you and me except they hold a badge and carry a gun. No matter how much you train a police officer or even war soldier how to kill, you can not train them to live with that kill. And you wonder why so many soldiers come back home fucked up! Can you really train and officer to deal with the fact that his fellow officer nearly got ran over?
I have seen a lot of so called "police brutality" videos and I honestly feel that the incident in Alabama was not police brutality. It was 5 officers acting out their aggression because they are human beings. You have to put yourself in their shoes. They did not approach the subject thinking "is he dead or alive"? They approached the subject thinking "You almost killed that police officer, he has 2 kids and a pregnant wife at home... I'm going to fuck you up".
It is human nature. Police officers look out for police officers before they will look out for you, because at the end of the day, all they want is to just get home safely to their families.
Had that asshole not nearly ran over that officer, I think it would have been a different story. Am I the only one of the 5 officers side :dunno:

They are human before they are police officers. If someone ran my friend over on purpose I would want to kick their ass too. Plus they may have thought he was faking being knocked out. I have seen people do that on COPS many times. The criminal didn't care of he killed anyone while on his chase. I don't care if he gets a beating. If more people got a beating, maybe criminals would think twice.
Only in Alabama right. I would know. I am so glad I left that state. State sucks. Don't ever live there.
No I agree with you. They are human before they are police officers. If someone ran my friend over on purpose I would want to kick their ass too.
