Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
Put it on tv and let people know what he did and then fry his ass so people know what is in store for them if they do the crime

like we always obey the constitution.

The Constitution should be followed.

One day the people will be pushed too far and there will be another war in this country. So, following the Constitution is a good idea.

the declaration of independence does give us that whole right to rebel if the government begins to trample upon our unalienable rights, it doesn't include an except the usa clause, rather it says "...whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these end, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Governments..."

It's really something that the driver wasn't at least unconscious when everything came to a rest. :1orglaugh

Only in Alabama right. I would know. I am so glad I left that state. State sucks. Don't ever live there.

My thoughts:

The guy they beat HIT A POLICE OFFICER WITH HIS CAR WHEN HE TRIED TO RUN HIM OVER AND KILL HIM. To expect that the police officers that were chasing him were going to go easy on him is just completely unrealistic. It was all in the heat of the moment and adrenaline-driven. I'm willing to bet that the officers who beat this guy either had no idea he was unconscious or just didn't care to pay attention to that sort of thing. I mean, after all, HE HIT A POLICE OFFICER WITH HIS CAR WHEN HE TRIED TO RUN HIM OVER AND KILL HIM.

I'm not saying that these officers shouldn't have been punished, but they did what ANYBODY would do in that situation. If somebody ran over your mother, father, brother, sister, wife, husband or best friend and you caught up to them, I'm willing to bet that you would kick the shit out of them too, whether they were conscious or not.

The only relevance that has is that it was an additional charge put on the blotter.

Being a cop is dangerous that's why you are trained to be professional in spite of that danger. That's what we as citizens have to rely...that "you", the cop..amidst all of the scum...maintain your bearing. The average person is not trained to be professional but in either case there is no provision for taking the law into your own hands. It's your prerogative to do it but just be willing to face and accept the consequences.

Adrenaline only applies if you are already engaged in a physical altercation and you go beyond merely defending/subduing a person to being the aggressor and attacking someone you've rendered defenseless. That's fairly understandable.

I hold elected officials, government agents, the military, and officers of the law to a higher standard. If they can't control themselves they don't need to be officers of the law. If any of those people abuse their authority or if they break serious laws in the line of their duty they need to be locked up for a very long time. That's all there is to it.

It's hard to keep your cool if one of your friends just got hit by a car and you are the one who is responsible for arresting him. I don't care if you're a police officer who is trained for that sort of thing or not; emotions are going to get the best of you in that situation. That's exactly why doctors aren't allowed to treat family members; emotions. It's hard to control your emotions, no matter what profession you work in and no matter how much training you have.

I'd like to give my :2 cents: And this mostly relates to the 5 officers incident in Alabama.

There is obviously a two sided debate as whether what happen was right or wrong, but I think the problem that is mislooked is the mentality of police officers. It seems that people always assume that police officers should be programmed a certain way, shape, and form like robots. But the reality is, they are just human beings like you and me except they hold a badge and carry a gun. No matter how much you train a police officer or even war soldier how to kill, you can not train them to live with that kill. And you wonder why so many soldiers come back home fucked up! Can you really train and officer to deal with the fact that his fellow officer nearly got ran over?

I have seen a lot of so called "police brutality" videos and I honestly feel that the incident in Alabama was not police brutality. It was 5 officers acting out their aggression because they are human beings. You have to put yourself in their shoes. They did not approach the subject thinking "is he dead or alive"? They approached the subject thinking "You almost killed that police officer, he has 2 kids and a pregnant wife at home... I'm going to fuck you up".

It is human nature. Police officers look out for police officers before they will look out for you, because at the end of the day, all they want is to just get home safely to their families.

Had that asshole not nearly ran over that officer, I think it would have been a different story. Am I the only one of the 5 officers side :dunno:

I have no sympathy whatsoever for this asshole. All the innocent people he put in danger that day running from the police officers.

It's amazing that this asshole criminal is now filing a lawsuit against the city of Birmingham. I hope everyone that was on the road that days files a lawsuit against this pathetic individual including the police officer he almost hit and all of the parents of the children that were on the school bus this jerkoff almost hit as well.

Yep, and for all of the people he potentially placed in peril as well as the rest of the laws he broke...there's a space on the police blotter and booking sheet for that.

You don't get it! It's not about him (the suspect). It's about the people we pay to enforce the law in turn breaking the law. Or taking the law into their own hands. You don't allow individuals in our society who have the responsibility and authority police have deciding which laws apply to them and which don't. If they weren't cops under the exact same situation their actions would constitute prima facie aggravated assault and battery charges.

If you don't want to follow the laws you swore to enforce or can't control your anger/frustration/temper...don't be a cop OR be willing to accept the consequences of your actions.

No I agree with you. They are human before they are police officers. If someone ran my friend over on purpose I would want to kick their ass too. Plus they may have thought he was faking being knocked out. I have seen people do that on COPS many times. The criminal didn't care of he killed anyone while on his chase. I don't care if he gets a beating. If more people got a beating, maybe criminals would think twice.

Nice Post.

Bad cops stories are newsworthy because they're far more anomalous than the good cop stories
. . . and aren't we all grateful for that ? :D

Sidenote : Physical motor vehicle assault is assault with a deadly weapon. Add that your intent is to hit a police officer or officers and your talking about an additional felony charge into the mix.

Yeah they are human but that's the reason why they get specialized training to keep them from responding like the average person may or may not respond. Whether some have feigned being unconscious or not in the past, it's clear to anyone with hint of common sense THAT GUY wasn't. I expect a cop to know that if someone is tumbling in a vehicle....if the person somehow manages not to bang their noggin on some hard enough to get knocked out, the G forces will definitely knock them out.

I always say that the only way a person can't endure a punishment for an action and not lose self-respect for themselves is if the greater crime would be inaction. Therefore, if you believe your actions (even though illegal) are morally justifiable in your mind...then I say accept full responsibility, accountability and punishment for them..if not be proud to do so. Don't hide behind a lawyer, destroy evidence of take cover behind a technicality. Be damned proud of what you did and happily accept your punishment.

That wasn't the case here. These guys were expressing their anger and rage which at the end of it...won't solve anything but make them feel better. That's not what we pay cops for IMO.

IMO it's pretty simple. They thought because of the crash they could get away with beating the guy and blaming on the crash. I guarantee not one account for his injuries stated that any one of those cops pounded him. If it did, they likely claimed he was combative...which would be a clear lie.

If more people would get beatings from/brutulized by cops it would only create more brutal criminals. Desperate criminals really don't give a f**k & police brutality, death penalty,etc.....obvuiously don't/won't deter them . The more brutal the police become the more brutal /desperate the criminals become(see the near war zones that are Brazil/Mexico).

Any honest police departments would have fired these unprofessional clowns also since it is Cops like them who give most cops a bad name & even endanger the lives of others when a portion of the public(no matter how large/small) come to resent/distrust cops. (Videos like these & even the less sinister Ryan Moats one only builds a public resentmet for Cops which they don't need nor want since the Cops were fired in both instances).

What these guys did was indefensible/unprofessional & they were rightly fired.
