Good job! You jinxed them, 2-4 at home!

Yeah, I thought about that before posting but figured what the hell? Actually, we sent 5-4 on the homestand so losing 4 straight isn't exactly the end of the world. I am, however, starting to become concerned with all the injuries piling up. Waino, Holliday, Walden, Belisle, Jay, Adams and now Garcia back on the DL is thinning out the roster. Still, we're in first place, best record in the league so not a lot to cry about....at least not yet.

well the Cardinals have a interesting weekend series as the red hot Pirates come into town. the Pirates really need to win 2 or 3 games to show they will be more than 1 and done in the play-offs

The Cardinals have been sliding recently (although a MAJOR dramatic win last night averted what could have been close to a disaster) and the Pirates are on fire. We're playing them in Pittsburgh so....advantage Pirates. Pitching matchups would seem to favor PGH.....I'll give Martinez the edge over Locke tonight, Cole over Lynn on Friday, Burnett over Lackey on Saturday and certainly Liriano over Cooney (Garcia's injury is devastating) on Sunday. Pirates should take 3 out of 4....I'd be tickled shitless with a split. If we were hitting better I'd be more optimistic but we have so many key guys injured and our other mainstays (like Carpenter) have been slumping badly. We need to get healthy to maintain our advantage because Pittsburgh is a really good team.

I can't believe LA didn't out vote us. Great that he won but I'd rather have him rested.

We always beat LA, you know that! ;)

I'm sure Carlos would rather have the bonus money than the rest. He won't pitch more than an inning anyway.

Mark Buehrle wins his 10th game for the 15th consecutive season. He's on pace for another year of 200 + innings. Classy guy too. You don't have to throw 95 mph to win!!!

Buehrle has been a model of consistency for quite some time. Class act is right....and he's a St. Louis native so that makes it all the better!

Not only that, he wears the gold, one of the best fielding pitchers in his prime.

stunned by the Pirates taking 3 of 4 from the Cardinals but it's was needed by them, should make for an interesting finial sprint

I posted this on last Thursday so....

I don't like the way we blew sure-fire wins the past 2 games but we're still in first and have the best record in MLB at the break so not exactly panic-stricken. The Bucs showed a lot of heart and deserved the wins. In the meantime, we can use the time off. Due to get Holliday, Walden, Belisle, Garcia and Gonzales back within the next 2 weeks. Pittsburgh was the better team this weekend. We'll see which one is on top come September (or maybe October since both teams would be playoff bound if the season ended today).

That 10th inning was crazy.

Sure was. Thrilling if you're a Bucs fan....nauseating if you're a Cardinal fan. That's why we watch. Baseball rocks....

Looking forward to tonight's ASG. I wonder if there will be 10 hits total in the game.

Trade season in full swing. KC appears to have improved with the additions of Cueto & Zobrist. Jays trade Reyes & 3 pitching prospects to Colorado for Troy Tulowitzki & Latroy Hawkins. Supposedly the Cards were in on Tulo too. Washington trades for Papelbon with an eye to October in this trade. Should be an interesting few days. Where does Price go? Will the Yankees swing a deal?

i think the Jays trade is just a precursor to another move. i think the Royals have decided this is their year to win the world series and are going all out to make it happen

I agree 100%. The Jays are pitching starved & have given up 5 pitching prospects to get Donaldson & Tulowitzki. KC looks loaded.

Where do Price & Hamels go? I'd be shocked if the Dodgers don't land 1 of them.

Well, if they don't they can kiss making even the wild card playoff game goodbye.
This team has been a paper tiger all year. Their record since mid May is below .500

Joc Pederson has gone from phenom to joining Rollins as an automatic out.
The team has 20 stolen bases the entire season.
That nice lead at the all star break was a mirage. There was never any doubt in my mind the Giants would rebound, and that it wasn't going to take all that much to catch what's essentially nothing more than a 500 team.

Hamels is a Ranger once all the medicals check out he's joined by one other player and the Phillies get Matt Harrison and 5 minor leaguers back
Price is still up in the air but the Dodgers won't get since they are about to acquire two starters in a 3 way deal with Atlanta and Miami

Zobrist is such an under-rated player. Great addition by the Royals. When I was a kid, my dream was to be an all-around player like Zobrist. Except I sucked in the outfield and I couldn't hit a curve.
