Really glad to see The Pirates looking all but certain to make the playoffs

Man what a collapse by The Brewers. Just a month ago they came out to Dodger stadium and left 15 games over .500 after an impressive 3 game sweep. They've gone 9 and 20 since and are 4.5 back in the wild card race with 8 games to go :anonymous

Tigers bullpen has to improve if they want to do anything in the playoffs :2 cents:

Yep.

As I predicted, Ian Kinsler homered leading the Tigers to victory last night. However, instead of the 2-1 Tigers win that I saw in my crystal ball, it was a 10-1 rout. Justin Verlander looking more like the Justin of old pitched into the eighth inning in the key AL Central showdown.

In game two today it will be Max Scherzer (16-5) for Detroit, his Kansas City mound opponent will be “Big Game James” Shields (14-7)

Go Tigers!!!

PS: I agree, the Tigers bullpen needs improvement.

Should be a great game. This is why KC gave up so much to get Shields.

Well, it seems like the Dodgers are still determined to give The Giants the division title :1orglaugh

In a year of so many ugly losses due to their bullpen today's may have been the ugliest yet

And they don't even have a staring pitcher available for tomorrow. The bullpen will pitch the entire game. Good luck with that :1orglaugh

Yesterday afternoon Max Scherzer tossed seven innings of one-run ball to guide the Tigers past the Royals 3-2. It got a little dicey in the bottom of the 9th when Tigers closer Joe Nathan put two runners in scoring position, but this time the baseball gods were smiling on old Joe and managed to get out of trouble to secure Max Scherzer 17th victory and the Tigers second win in this pennant showdown series.

Game three today, Detroit will send Rick Porcello (15-11) to the mound against Kansas City’s Jeremy Guthrie (11-11)

Go Tigers!!!

Well the Giants can't beat the Friars. Tim Hudson has just been terrible. He just can't pitch anymore. That's pretty much what Bruce Bochy needs to do now is take two pitchers out of the starting rotation. (Tim Hudson and Tim Lincecum). Ryan Vogelsong, another troubled pitcher of late, needs to pick it up today so that we can at least win one game in the Padre series. Yes, a potential sweep by Bud Black's crew may happen. Otherwise we go into Los Angeles with a four game losing streak.

Can we win with just four pitchers? Madison Bumgarner, Jake Peavy, Yusmeiro Petit and Ryan Vogelsong? With Tim Lincecum as back up support.

The magic number for the Dodgers clinching the NL West title is down to just five games.

Fortunately, yesterday the Pirates lost to the Brewers and the Giants still hold a one game lead in the NL wild card. With eight to play.

The Kansas City Royals salvaged the finale of this key three-game series with a 5-2 victory over Detroit on Sunday.

The Tigers went hitless in eight chances with runners in scoring position. Detroit’s Rick Porcello has now dropped four straight decisions. However, Detroit still won the season series with the Royals, 13-6. Kansas City will finish a suspended game on Monday in Cleveland trailing 4-2 in the 10th inning. Detroit will take on the White Sox and Twins at home in the final week of the season. The Tigers combined record against Chicago and Minnesota is 14-15, in other words they will have their work cut out for them.

With Tigers it’s never easy!

Go Tigers!!!

Yep, it was a brutal weekend for the Giants in San Diego
Man o man, I did not see that coming.
And the Dodgers got away with the "all bullpen" move in Chicago.
Magic number down to three.
Giants have to take 2 out next 3 in LA or it's over.
Still not seeing the Dodgers making it to the series, although if Ryu bounces back in good form they might. If not they have no chance.

Hell yes! Go Tigers!!! I have faith!

Was he really worth the price, David Price that is? Price, who looked brilliant through eight innings Monday night against the White Sox, failed again to close the deal. Trying for a complete game victory Price allowed 3 runs on 5 hits tying the game in the top of the ninth. With two out and two on base Price was removed in favor of Joe Nathan, who after walking pinch hitter Conor Gillaspie to load the bases got rookie Carlos Sanchez to fly out to center for the final out. With the game all tied at three runs apiece there was an uneasy feeling among the loyal patrons at Comerica Park, but the baseball gods were smiling down again on the Tigers. Lead-off hitter Ian Kinsler bounced a soft ground ball over Gillaspie's glove (who stayed in the game to play third), Torii Hunter followed with a walk putting Kinsler into scoring position. Miguel Cabrera (Detroit’s answer to the Mighty Casey) stepped to the plate and came through for the Tigers one more time with a solid single to left to win the game.

Detroit remains a game ahead of Kansas City for first place in the AL Central following the Royals' 7-1 win over the Indians.

These nail bitters are killers, one gets the feeling that impending doom awaits the Tigers at any minute. That and the fact the Kansas City Royals are not going to go away quietly. Even with this win tonight I’m not left with a comfortable feeling about the Tigers chances.

Go Tigers!!!

I'm surprised Nathan didn't blow it again.

Derek Jeter's last home game may be today. Rain is expected for tomorrow. If the Angels can close out the season with a better record than the O's then that game won't be made up. All of the pomp and circumstance planned for tomorrow night gets cancelled. Good. They have been milking this for much too long.

Have you ordered your $400 Jeter game used socks yet?

With the Tigers 6-1 win against the White Sox and The Royals loss to Cleveland last night, Detroit has earned a spot in the postseason, but won’t be satisfied until the Central Division is won. Detroit's magic number is Three.

Both the Tigers and Royals are in action tonight, as the Tigers begin a four-game season-ending series with Minnesota at home, while the Royals go to Chicago to take on the White Sox.

Go Tigers!!!

The Tigers will try again to secure a fourth straight American League Central title when they resume their four-game series with the Twins tonight in Detroit. The Tigers are one game ahead of Kansas City and can nail down the crown with a win and a Royals loss in Chicago. Detroit went down to an 11-4 loss to the Twins last night. Rick Porcello didn't have it! He was touched for six runs, four earned on six hits in just 3 2/3 innings. This was Porcello’s fifth straight bad start. This is not the way you want to go into the post season.

The Twins are 9-8 against the Tiger on the season.

Note: I see the Arizona Diamondbacks fired former Tigers Kirk Gibson and Alan Trammell. Gibson and Trammell were teammates on the Tigers 1984 World Series Championship team (the Tigers last championship).

Derek Jeter’s game socks? You’re kidding me, who the hell would shell out 400 bucks for his game socks? I guess some people must have money to burn. This whole Derek Jeter retirement thing is getting just a bit sickening with the media going nuts over him. Don’t get me wrong, Jeter was a good player and deserves some of the accolades that he’s receiving. But he’s not the most prolific hitter of all-time or even the greatest shortstop of all time, he’s not a legend. This whole farewell tour has been way over done by the media.
.
Hey just for the record, there is another pretty damn good player who is retiring too that nobody is talking about. Of course I mean Paul Konerko of the Chicago White Sox. He’s a good guy too, even here in enemy territory in Detroit, Paulie has always been well thought of.

The Tigers get trounced for the second day in a row by the Minnesota Twins, 12-3. However, the Royals fell to the White Sox, 5-4 remaining one game behind Detroit going into the last day of the regular season, (game number 162).

It’s simple; if the Tigers win they’re in! There’s no magic number to worry about, all they need to concentrate on now, is beating the Twins. But that’s easier said then done the way the Tigers are currently playing. Detroit has hit the skids. In the past two losses to Minnesota the Tigers haven’t been able to do anything right, and now their running out of tomorrows.

Go Tigers!!!
