I'm not fucking around. Would you also be interested in some Steiner authenticated dirt from his last game?

good grief  :1orglaugh

speaking of huge collapses (cough Brewers cough)....... it would be remiss not to also mention the tremendous collapse of The Braves :flaccid: Your Mets might just end up in sole possession of second place.
The Reds probably also deserve a dishonorable mention.

It's been a great season and we are getting what we asked for with the extra wild card. So many different scenarios to unfold on this last day of the regular season including Monday 163rd games. Here's the scenarios:

http://m.mlb.com/news/article/95341554/possible-tiebreaking-scenarios-explained

This really was the year of the collapse. Oakland, SF, Detroit get tossed into the mix too since they were strong to start and now playing for their lives. Pitt, KC, and Seattle scratching and clawing are great stories too. Atlanta never had a large lead in the division but as they say, you are what your record says. They were barely over .500 in their division and dominated no one. Cincy had 2 7 game losing streaks and was 22-38 in one run games. That's 60 out of 161 games to be decided by one run. Too many to ever be considered a contender.

The 2014 Mets finishing in second place is something every Mets fan would proudly celebrate with tongue firmly placed in cheek. If Toronto wins and Boston beats the Yankees today that would push the Yankees into 3rd and more celebration for us Met fans. Fuck football, I love this game.

And what a wonderful finish for that prick Bud Selig. Bought the Brewers for a shit price, ran it like shit, sold it to another shit owner and thus their collapse. Closed his eyes to all of the PED going on and out the door he goes.

Speaking of collapses, you have to include Toronto. I think they held a 6 game lead at 1 point in June. Since KC made the playoffs, the Jays now own the longest playoff less streak in baseball.

I heard an interview with Steiner-he admitted going too far with the sock.

So it all boils down to Game 162 of the regular season for the Detroit Tigers in their pursuit of the American League Central crown. All the Tigers have to do is beat the Twins this afternoon and the A.L. Central title will be theirs once again. David Price draws the mound assignment for the Tigers. He has faced the Twins 10 times in his career and has a 4-3 won-lost record with a 2.84 ERA against Minnesota, not great but not bad either. This season has been a frustrating one for sure, for Tiger fans.

Go Tigers

It wasn’t easy but David Price showed why he was so coveted at the trade deadline, leading the Detroit Tigers to their fourth consecutive AL Central title with a 3-0 win over the Minnesota Twins. BTW Price finished the year as the American League’s leader in strikeouts with 271.

Now it’s on to Baltimore to take on the Orioles in the ALDS on Thursday.

Note: The Tigers were 6-1 against the Orioles during the regular season.

So excited for them!! Let's see what they can do!

The Detroit-Baltimore American League Division Series:

Detroit held the advantage during the season finishing at 5-1. However, there is one rather important caveat, the Tigers/Orioles home and home season series took place in April and May this year they haven’t met since May 14th. Both teams have undergone major changes since then so I’m going to discount the regular season record in my evaluation.

Runs Scored: Detroit 757--- Baltimore 705, a slight advantage goes to the Tigers.

Batting Average: The Tigers hold an advantage here with a .277 team batting average to Baltimore’s .256. The Tigers big three hitters are Victor Martinez (.335), J.D. Martinez (.315) and Miguel Cabrera (.313). The Orioles big three are Steve Pearce (.293) Adam Jones (.281), and Nelson Cruz (.271).

Home Runs: Baltimore 211, Detroit 155, the Orioles have the power.

Stolen Bases: Detroit 106, Baltimore 44, the Tigers have the speed, that is provided Rajai Davis (36 steals) has recovered from his groin injury.

Starting Pitching Detroit: Max Scherzer (18-5, 3.15 ERA), David Price (15-12, 3.26 ERA) Rick Porcello (15-13, 3.43 ERA and Justin Verlander (15-12, 4.54 ERA).

Starting Pitching Baltimore: Miguel Gonzalez (10-9, 3.23 ERA) Chris Tillman (13-6, 3.34 ERA), Wei-Yin Chen (16-6, 3.54 ERA) Bud Norris (15-8, 3.65 ERA) and Ubaldo Jimenez (6-9, 4.81 ERA).

Advantage Detroit.

Bullpen Big Three---Detroit: Joakim Soria (3.25 ERA), Joba Chamberlain (3.57 ERA) and Joe Nathan (4.81 ERA).

Bullpen Big Three---Baltimore: Zack Britton (1.65 ERA), Darren O’Day (1.70 ERA) and Andrew Miller (2.02 ERA).

Advantage Baltimore.

Team ERA: Baltimore (3.44), Detroit (4.01) with all of the talk on how great Tigers pitching is Baltimore holds the clear advantage.

Pitching is generally the deciding factor especially in the post season. The advantage goes to Baltimore winning in five games. However, I’m looking for an upset; this Tigers team has been through the postseason pressure before, whereas the Orioles have not. I’m picking Detroit to win in four games.

That was an awesome AL wild card game :nanner:
It pretty much had it all.
Happy for KC fans. They've waited a long time for this.
I really hate the one and done format, though. If you're going to have 2 wild card teams in each league the playoff should be a best of 3.

It looks like the Pirates are done right now. Nationals vs Giants is going to be a good one.

Sad to see the Pirates go:( .......but yes I agree with you Nationals/Giants could be a good one. If Hudson weren't so out of sorts I'd be picking the Giants to win it.

Excellent analysis. The Tigers will go as far as their bullpen takes them. Pitching, defence & the 3 run homer. Baltimore in 5.

the O's are not the most talented team in baseball but they damned sure know how to get the job done. I would have thought that Detroit's bullpen could have been managed to hold some kind of a lead. After all, this is the time to reach deep but no such doing.

It's great to see KC be a scrapper to be afraid of. The trouble is that such teams often run out of gas at some point and the dream ends.

I think the KC/ Angels series is going to be a lot closer than people think. I know KC's already won a game, they have a great bullpen and they play great defense. Tigers bullpen is just plain awful. I'm really looking forward to the Dodgers/Cards series. Don't underestimate the Cards-they know how to win. Same as the Giants-they just know how to win.

fucking Dodgers :1orglaugh

forever the Cardinal's bitch :nannerf1:

so much for the "Kershaw for MVP" campaign. he's beginning to look a little like baseball's answer to Peyton Manning: awesome regular seasons, disappointing post seasons.

I thought that with the pitching match up, it would be the first team to 3 runs would win. Who saw this coming? :dunno:

Kershaw was "tipping his pitches." That's what Harold Reynolds was saying during the game.

Tell Harold to shut the fuck up!!!!! That's how these stupid rumors get started. Of course the lowly Cards couldn't hit God's gift to pitching, they must have stole signs or something!!!!!!!!
He was throwing fast balls and missing his spots and they knew it. Matt C. has been one of the best 2 strike hitters in the NL the last couple years.
