What I feared came to fruition. ASU blew it against the Illini. Same ole Devils. Ah well, at least with next year should arrive a new head coach.

Florida completed their annual victory over Tennefuckinsee. It's almost disappointing Tennessee can't beat us, beating the Vols has lost its luster.

I really hope the super conference thing does not happen. It would be dumb as hell to have a conference where you don't even play half the teams ever. Think about it, if the SEC split into eight team divisions, Florida would never play LSU, Georgia would never play Auburn, Tennessee would never play Alabama. It almost be better to be in separate conferences, at least you could schedule them however often you want.

And if the Big Ten is gonna expand, they need to beat the ACC to the punch and pick up Pittsburgh. Big market, successful athletic programs outside of football, some football tradition, plus a natural rival in Penn State. Missouri, Kansas, West Virginia, Syracuse, Louisville, and possibly a shock move for Kentucky (who has an old rivalry with Indiana) should be on their radar.

4 Super Conferences -- 28 teams each and divided by simple geography to keep travel costs down. WEST, MIDWEST, SOUTH, EAST

I don't see that happening. It seems the much-hyped super-conferences will be born, but I don't see any conference with 28 teams. 16 seems to be magic number everyone talks about, possibly 18, and a 20-team conference is the most that I think would be viable.

Too late, it's now official...Pittsburgh and Syracuse both applied to join the ACC, the ACC invited them to join, they accepted, and the ACC unanimously voted to accept them as members of the ACC. It's not a matter of if anymore.....it's only a matter of when. As of now, per the Big East bylaws, they can't leave until the 2014-1015 season.....but they are working on getting it done sooner. There's now talk that the ACC might expand further to 16 teams.....adding Connecticut and Rutgers from the Big East in the near future.

the process was only delayed at the end of the summer, now its begun IMO, for the 4 super conferences, and the Big East and Big 12 are going to be the two victims of this. sucks for TCU, they dont have a BCS profile, so joining a conference was huge for them, the Pac12(16?), SEC, Big 10 and ACC will not want them at any cost since these conferences have shown a refusal to accept members who in their minds 'stole' 15 million dollar pay checks from the big 4 bowl games. having super conferences works okay in college basketball cause of the post season tournament, but this same thing will be harmful to college football, it wont make the game better IMO, itll make it more imbalanced that it already is.

In my opinion, Garcia has been a waste of time. It's shocking that Steve Spurrier kept giving this guy chance after chance.

It's amazing, the kid can play lights out for a half, then blow the game singlehandedly! And you can tell Spurrier really wants to win now because with all the off the field shit this guy gets into to, he should be kicked off the team.

Anyone see what the new Pac-12(16) might look like? They're talking about breaking up the divisions into "Pods".
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/s...ma-oklahoma-state-texas-tech-according-source

Pod A: Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Texas, Texas Tech

Pod B: Arizona, Arizona St, USC, UCLA

Pod C: California, Stanford, Colorado, Utah

Pod D: Oregon, Oregon St, Washington, Washington St.

The teams in the "pods" will play each other every year.

It doesn't make sense to me to split up the California teams. Those are all ancient in-state rivalries.

I'd switch Pod C to: USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal
and Pod B to: Arizona, Arizona St, Colorado, Utah

Those pods have better geographic symmetry as well. Yes Tempe is a bit closer to L.A. than San Francisco, but Utah, Colorado and Arizona are three of the four states that make up the "Four Corners" region.

so glad college football is back :nanner:

It sickens me that Garcia is still there. I woulda let his ass go, even if he was a superstar stud QB. I've lost some respect for Spurrier for keeping him around.

Agreed.

Ditto. I think the ol' ball coach realizes that this may be his last year to win the SEC again... it reminds me of when JoPa played that QB a few years ago who beat up an off duty cop with a few of his posse because he was with a black girl just so he could keep up with Bowden. Not good to ruin a reputation over winning a few football games IMHO. :2 cents:

Stephen Garcia is nothing special, he is a wildly inacurate QB, he barely completes half his passes in most games, only thing that saves him is the fact he can run and having 2 good recievers he can depend on to make plays on his worst throws. For USCarolina to do well, they have to get Marcus Lattimore going, and the defense has to hold its own, thats how they win games. I dont know who Garcia fools Spurrier everytime into thinking hes changed, but every new chance he gets...SURPRISE...another run in with the cops.

Not surprising in general with college football, Nebraska giving Lawrence Phillips the kid treatment all those years was probly the worst IMO. If you have a player whos trouble for the team off the field, but he helps you win games, no coach will just get rid of him

i was looking back on past events and looking at whats going on now in relation to Pitt and Syracuse bolting for the ACC without giving any indication of what they were planning....It all has the Big East commisioner and school presidents talking about loyalty, and how its lost in college sports. It reminded me the Big East has made a habit of making other schools forget loyalty to get them to join in. Theyve jobbed conference USA on a couple of occasions, so why do they now complain about loyalty when theyve asked schools from smaller conferences to put it aside just the same? Pure hypocrisy from the Big East.

Not to mention them saying GTFO to Temple in 2004.

North Carolina at Georgia Tech (Though teams play better on the road in this lousy conference)
Western Michigan at Illinois (Tighter than you think)
USC at Arizona St. (Has all the makings of a tight, last minute affair)
San Diego St. at Michigan (If this was played last year, SDSU woulda won)
Florida St. at Clemson (Unlike Auburn, FSU actually has a defense)
Rice at Baylor (Could be close, Rice played decently against Texas and beat Purdue)
LSU at West Virginia (Huge advantage at QB for WVU)
Florida at Kentucky (My mom was in high school the last time Kentucky beat us)
Arkansas at Alabama (Surprising blowout win for Bama)
Virginia Tech at Marshall
Vanderbilt at South Carolina (Good one, but Carolina pulls away in 4th)
Oregon at Arizona (Last year for Stoops in Tucson)
Nebraska at Wyoming (Nebraska's defense sucks ass, but so does the entire Wyoming team)
Oklahoma St. at Texas A&M (Both have good offenses. But only one has a good defense: A&M)
South Dakota at Wisconsin
Tulsa at Boise St. (Yeah, um, this ain't Notre Dame)
Arkansas at Alabama (Doubleheader baby!)
LSU at West Virginia (")
Missouri at Oklahoma (U-G-L-Y.....for the Zou)

The local newspaper where I live is reporting the SEC has invited Missouri to join the conference. It also stated at least one newspaper in Missouri is reporting the same thing, but officials from the SEC have denied this.

I also saw that the Pac 12 issued a statement that they have decided not to expand beyond 12 teams. Does anyone really believe this?

The newspaper also reported that Oklahoma's main reason for wanting to leave is because of Texas and their Longhorn network, but would consider staying if Texas drops the network and the Big 12 commissioner resigns.

the Pac 12 is going to expand eventually when they see the most proper opportunity, right now is not the best time, but when it comes they will be in hot pursuit of expansion. Oklahoma is doing a power play cause they pretty much know by now the Big 12 is finished, TAMU is leaving after this season, other teams have been pursuid by other conferences, this is just a way for Oklahoma to make it look like they had no role in the dissolution of that conference. The Big East will also be finished for good once the super conferences start to take shape, that league has been pitiful for a long time anyway, its champion always does poorly in its BCS game and they rarely if ever have anyone ranked in the top 25. The Big East has been lasting as a conference by raiding Conference USA, but its clearly shown this has backfired on them as they are very uncompetitive in the biggest games every year.
