Yeah, I'll be one of the 19 people at the Purdue vs. Middle Tennessee State game today. Seriously, the stadium is projected to be about half full. What way to kick of the year. Is it basketball season yet?

I think both of those teams are in a for a good year. Could be a real good game.

College sports are different from professional sports. In college, it's alot easier to like multiple schools due to certain ties. For example, the school I attended is different from where my dad went, which is different from the local school where I grew up. So that alone gives me 3 different schools I like.

.

Yes, pro and college is different, but IMO it’s COLLEGE where you should place loyalties to one team. To me he it's a lot harder to root for multiple teams if you really have any loyalties. But my Mom , Dad, brother, sister in law, most friends and I all went to OSU.

Of course I’ve never understood taking pro sports to seriously. I love pro sports, but there is something different between rooting for a group of athletes that play for a team because they were highest bidder and rooting for athletes that choose to go to your school.

Looking forward to watching Georgia vs. Boise State and LSU vs. Oregon tonight.

The concept of even liking a second team is completely foreign to me.

Let me clarify my stance on this. I'm not saying it's impossible to like more than one team or school. However, it is impossible to like both teams involved in a fierce rivalry like Alabama/Auburn and still call yourself a true fan of either. In college football, I actually follow 3 schools very intently....Missouri (I grew up in St. Louis), The U (Fell in love with them when I lived in S. FL during the Jimmy Johnson era) and Texas (I have lived in Texas the past 20 years of my life). However, none of those schools are intense rivals so rarely do I have to pick allegiances. That said, you will never see me being a Texas A & M fan, a Kansas fan or an FSU fan....they are all intense rivals of my favored schools. Likewise, Yankee fans will never cheer for the Red Sox, Celtic fans will never root for the Lakers, Cub fans will never pull for the Cardinals and the Hatfields will never support the McCoys. It's just the way it is and there's no in-between.

In fact, outside Boise State, I'm not sure which mid-majors are gonna be major players this year. Perhaps UCF. I do think Baylor is in for a good year, outside the top 3 in the Big XII I am not all that impressed.

If (and that's a big "if") Houston beats UCLA today, they could run the table. They have a very easy schedule the rest of the way and, with Case Keenum back, their offense is one of the most explosive in the nation. Stay tuned.

How 'bout them Auburn Tigers! The National Champs are DOWN!!:facepalm: Utah State just pulled off a FAKE FG?? Wow do they have a set of brass ones:1orglaugh

It is Utah State 31 and The SEC Power 28 with less than 5 min in the 4th and Utah State with the ball inside the 5!

Bama looks pretty pathetic today too.

I think LSU is going to get ROCKED by Oregon, and Boise State will handle Georgia. Not calling for a blowout win by the Broncos, but it should be a solid win nonetheless.

Looks like the "Mighty" SEC credibility is getting clobbered today!!! :nanner::rofl2:

30 seconds left, and the National Champs will be escaping with a W....but this game truly was bad for the National Champs and the SEC....:rofl2:

Fuck. It was painful to sit in the stands today for the Purdue game. This might be the only win of the season for the Boilermakers. Horse shit offense and a horse shit defense. You know your team is terrible when the kicker (made field goals from 50 & 48 yards out) is the best player on the team.

It was also 100 degrees with the heat index. And our team is so fucking terrible that I could only give away six of the ten tickets I had today. Basically, several people told me that they would either tailgate and not go inside the stadium or just watch the game at home in the air conditioning. Can't even coax people to go with free tickets.

 Gonna be a long season...
