I didn't really expect Rangers to do anything special tonight - if best, they
would have got a draw.Thats considering the kind of form they are producing
of late. But I think Rangers have got bigger problems than this though, behind
the scenes. But it'll be interesting to see what happens during the transfer
window

As far as we're concerned the future certenly isn't bright :1orglaugh

But in all consolation I won a £10 on the lotto,so I'd rather have that than
a meaningless defeat by the filth ;)

Tottenham are doing scarily well this season, the pressure is almost unbearable as we have outside shot at the title as there are no runaway leaders this season. Man City still have the odd slip up, Chelsea are in freefall and Man Utd have injuries, if Tottenham don't let the pressure get to them they have a real chance. COYS!

Fucking gutted about losing to Liverpool tonight. I really wanted us to go for the League Cup. Winning the FA Cup last season after so long without one has really given us City fans a taste for trophies :)

Another win for Tottenham, now we just need the Manchester clubs to go through a rocky patch

I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow, heading up to Hampden is always great so I hope we can get into the final by beating Falkirk.

I'm going to be so fucked for it though. Shouldn't have started drinking tonight but fuck it. Hope we can get into the final to further our hopes of a treble

Anyone know if Rangers got another player in to replace Jellypish?. Sky sports news always just show English stuff.

I hope Jelavic does well. I can stop hating him now since he is no longer a good Rangers player

Sky mentioned that they would not be replacing him.

Last day of the transfer window and Arsenal barely gets a mention...and when they do it's about a player LEAVING.

:sing: From 10 years of trophies to 7 years of no show...I think it's about time for Arsene Wenger to go....

That's all very well to sing, but who would we replace him with?

The problem this year (as in previous years) has been our defence. Not so much that we haven't got good players, but more that they are all being asked to play out of position due to an astounding number in injuries to the first choice defenders. Gibbs should be back in a couple of weeks now which will put Vermaelen back in the centre where he belongs. The same with Sagna on the right. In midfield, I thought that we should be okay with Cesc leaving as we have Wilshire who had been outstanding but with a setback in his recovery we are unlikely to see him for another 6 weeks, and Diaby has not played since November, either.

Could we do with more established players? Yes, but you need to be able to identify the players that we would want, who themselves want to leave their current clubs, and be able to pay for them.

Why is this always the excuse to keep him? It's rarely "We already have a great manager why do we need to get rid of him?" or "Just stick with him and things will turn round".

The "Who would replace him?" excuse is an admission to the fact that said person WANTS to get rid of him but just can't think of anybody better @ the moment, my right?

We have won nothing for seven years...and will probably not make it to the top four this season. So any decent manager who has won the champions league and a league title will do (Fabio Capello? Gus Hiddink? )...the difference between them and Arsene is that they will ACTUALLY sign some players...so therefore they're better options.

No excuse...Manchester United have Vidic missing, they have Fletcher missing...Rio has been in and out and they lack creativity in the midfield...so why aren't THEY struggling?

...Gibbs should be back in a couple of weeks now which will put Vermaelen back in the centre where he belongs.

And guess what will happen to Gibbs once he returns from injury? Same old story...who ever decided that we should rely on Gibbs as a first choice left back with no cover?

In midfield, I thought that we should be okay with Cesc leaving as we have Wilshire who had been outstanding but with a setback in his recovery we are unlikely to see him for another 6 weeks, and Diaby has not played since November, either.

Again the injury myth...title winning teams have few injuries...do you know why? Why can't a team like Arsenal have BOTH Cesc and Wilshere...Barcelona has BOTH Xavi and Cesc and even Iniesta...having one good midfielder is not enough... because things like THIS happen:

UPDATE: Wilshere suffers a NEW stress fracture... Why are we relying on teenagers BTW?

Something which every other manager apart from Arsene seems to be able to do...if he can't do these things....which is part of the JOB DESCRIPTION of being a football manager then maybe he's too incompetent to be one, jus sayin. :dunno:

Arsene has managed to pick a up some great new young players - his track record on that is fantastic. The problem is picking up great existing players, and the biggest problem with that is money. It's is all very well saying that there is enough money to pay for a great established player, but that sort of player also requires outrageous wages, which Arsenal Football Club just does not pay. This is not a manager decision, this is a board decision - there is a cap on weekly wages. They do get around this a lot of the time with win and goal bonus's, but that is not what these players see.

I am not happy with the results this season, and have wondered about some of Arsene's choices for subs on occasion, but the players need to take responsibility for giving games away, for relaxing when they are playing "lower" opposition and losing concentration. I have been saying wait and see since we moved to the Emirates, and I am still waiting to see that extra spark that this club should have.

I have supported Arsenal for over 40 years and I still think that Wenger is the best manager that the club has ever had. He has done more for this club than anyone since Chapman. We are only just past half way through the season, and I am still hopeful (not confident) of getting back into the top 4 by the final day.

No great established players = no real quality. No real quality = no trophies. No trophies = established players already @ the club leaving (RVP? Vermaelen? Look what happened to Cesc...Nasri). Established players @ the club leaving = free fall.

There may be a cap on salary, but does this mean that the money isn't there? Nobody will talk. And if there isn't who the hell in the board is responsible for not allowing Usmanov to run a take-over?

That man is WEALTHIER than Roman Abramovich.

The players are doing the best they can IMO. But unfortunately, they lack neither the experience nor the quality. Remind me, who's decision was it to give players over 30 only 1 year contracts. Who's idea was it to keep the same back-room staff for goodness knows how many years?

I have supported Arsenal for over 40 years and I still think that Wenger is the best manager that the club has ever had. He has done more for this club than anyone since Chapman.

There is no doubt that Arsene Wenger is the greatest manager the club has ever had...and if our club is the way it is because there really is a lack of funds...then I'd rate him even more highly. But I don't want him to go out like an old boxer...constantly losing...a shadow of their former selves.

...We are only just past half way through the season, and I am still hopeful (not confident) of getting back into the top 4 by the final day.

But will we ever win the title again? We will ever win a trophy again? Because if we ever do, something MAJOR needs to change.

It's situations like these that remind me of the quote Einstein made on insanity. I'm sure you've heard it in reference the Wenger before...

INSANITY: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Okay, after last night's performance, I am becoming less hopeful of a champions league place next season. Something needs to be done, and quickly, and if it is a new manager, that is all well and good.

Who could do the job?

I don't want to hijack this thread and turn this into an Arsenal rant, so I'll leave it here.

I'll take a U-turn on what I said previously about Wenger, I wouldn't like to see him go. Fans are upset, what with the likes of Tottenham doing so well and all... I just want someone "upstairs" to explain the current situation with the club, the silence is deafening...

7 - 1

Why would we ever want to get rid of Arsene? He is a god amongst managers.

:D

I think Blackburn were just simply terrible today. But it was good to see Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain do well.If only
they could do the same in defence as they do in attack then they would definatly be title contenders :)

But until Wenger finally sorts that out - every season will be like a ride on the Big Dipper.
