Nadal beat Soderling in the final of the Abu Dhabi exhibition.

Even it's an exhibition, it's good news for the FaNadal/Rafanatics out there (hello, titsrock!).
Of course, you have to analyze this kind of tournaments carefully: it's almost like a training, with most of them testing things and just tryin to get warm for the real season, the official season.

Next week the OFFICIAL season starts with three tournaments:

Doha
the top seeds are: Federer, Nadal and Davydenko.
Davydenko should win: despite his loss against Ferrer in Abu Dhabi, he's still the man most in-form of the world.

Chennai
the top seeds are: Soderling and Cilic.
i don't think there's gonna be any problem for Robin to take this one and continue his spectacular improvement from the last 6 months.

Brisbane
the top seeds are: Roddick, Stepanek and Monfils.
Roddick should win this one easily.

Damn I was hopin' it was an azz-kicking win by Nadal but it was a close match :o

I know it's just an exhibition but still....maybe Soderling won't be an easy revenge opponent for Rafa :(

(I hate Soderling)

Davydenko won the ATP 250 in Doha:

he's still the main force of the tour right now. It's his 6th title of the last 6 monts. Amazing. Good for him. He deserves it.

He beat Nadal, in the final, who had a nice tournament.

the bad news for Rafa:

2 match points wasted? that's not our Rafa... (right, titsrock?)

He's now 1-10 in his last 11 matches with top-10 players: Djokovic (3), Davydenko (3), Del Potro (2), Soderling, Federer. A terrible situation for the Australian Open next week.

He's now 8 months without a title. ANY title. terrible.

the good news:

he show that he still can play at his best. Show us that still got the game. It's just a tiny lack of confidence.

Cilic beat Wawrinka to hold the ATP 250 Chennai title

good for marin. he's proving that he's the next best thing, Del Potro style. Good tournament for wawrinka too. It seems that his marriage suits him :)

Roddick win the ATP 250 Brisbane title

the good ol' andy. last year he only won 1 title. this year is still rising up and already got a title. i'm glad for him and for US tennis.

the Australian Open draw goes like this (most likely quarterfinals):

FEDERER/SIMON vs VERDASCO/DAVYDENKO

DJOKOVIC/ROBREDO vs TSONGA/SODERLING

and in the other half,

RODDICK/GONZALEZ vs CILIC/WAWRINKA/DEL POTRO

MURRAY/FERRER/MONFILS vs STEPANEK/KARLOVIC/NADAL

ouch! Nadal has a very tough path to defen his title... i mean, Karlovic/Stepanek and then Murray ? pufffff... you should be worry, titsrock.

Federer is pretty bad as well, specially for his opener (Andreev), Hewitt (local hero) and Davydenko (two straight defeats).

if Del Potro and Djokovic are healthy, they will make the semis easy.

it's gonna be very exciting!!! ;)

can't hardly wait to start waking up at 3:00am and see those outstanding matches

This is Isner's first singles title :hatsoff:

yes it is.

and it's not going to be the last one, let me tell you.

in Australia, he will beat Andreas Seppi in the first round, easily. Then in 2nd round he will beat Louk Sorensen or Yen-Hsun Lu, and then in the 3rd round, he will face Gael Monfils, in a match that anyone can win. If he does, then he will face Andy Murray in the 4th round, and there he will fail. But a 4th round it's going to be awesome for him.

in other news, the ex-top 10, Marcos Baghdatis won his 4th title in Sydndey, beating Richard Gasquet in the final. Good for him.

200-marcos-200x0.jpg

in australia, he will beat Paolo Lorenzi in the first round, then in the 2nd he will face David Ferrer, in what we expect a close match. but he's capable of beating the spaniard, so let's asumming he will pass. then in the 3rd round it's with local hero Lleyton Hewitt, and he's able to beat him too. Then in 4th round is with no one else than Roger Federer and he, of course, will fail against the world No. 1. Like Isner, a 4th round is not bad for him.

Looking forward to the Australian Open, generally my favorite sporting event of the year other than Australian Rules Football or cricket :D. It coincides with the last few weeks of the school holidays, always would look forward to it - to the point where once i finished school.... i've arranged for my work holidays to fall around the same period.

Unsure how it will pan out for the main players. Obviously on the men's side, Federer is the main threat, would like to see Nadal defend his title (although i suspect he will be on a decline very soon ala Hewitt - injury will slow him down + more players may come about who are about to topple his style of play).

With the women, i would love to see Clijsters win. Not really a fan of Henin or Sharapova and hope they crash out early :1orglaugh.
