Re: Report: TCU on Big East's radar

The Big 12 didn't ask them, that's why. The Big 12 already has the Dallas market locked up so TCU doesn't bring anything to the table from a TV revenue standpoint. I do agree that it makes no geographical sense whatsoever but I don't blame them for wanting to get into a BCS conference if they can. I'm no Frog fan either so....:dunno:

If the Big 12 ever expands back to a 12-team divisional format, they'll have their eye set on getting the Denver market back so CSU or Air Force would make more sense than TCU. They could also make a play for BYU to get the SLC market but I don't see any of these additions happening anyway. The Big 12 will likely remain a 10 team conference (they would change their name to the "Big 10" but someone else already has that name locked up). :1orglaugh

True...thinking about it further the Big XII and Texas schools already get all the advantages TCU would theoretically bring without the disadvantages (having another Big XII Texas school to compete against for recruiting).

I guess TCU made the smartest move if they want the chance at an automatic BCS bid since the BXII wouldn't invite them.

Yep. Actually, TCU has been a most unwelcome interloper on the recruiting scene in Texas so it would be a certainty that Texas, Texas A & M, Texas Tech, Baylor and, perhaps most vehemently, Oklahoma would be dead-set against the addition of them to the conference. As persona non grata to the powers that be in the Big 12, a far-away league like the Big East would likely be their only option. I would think they were lucky to get the invite from them to be honest....it sure surprised the shit out of me. The move is particularly puzzling since football is about the only thing that TCU brings to the table. Everyone knows the Big East is a basketball-first conference and the Frogs have never been a player in that realm. I guess the football credibility they bring to them is the justification. I mean, who is the Big East football champion? West Virginia? A BCS bid for them by default? The league is pathetic from a football standpoint so that has to be the rationale.

College football has become an absolute mess under the BCS format. It will only get worse in my opinion as long as it persists.

Who cares?? All the good WAC programs are leaving for the Mountain West. The WAC is gonna be terrible, Sun Belt-style. Idaho and Lousiana Tech will be the best the conference has to offer. Ugh.
You don't think it would be useful for Nevada, FSU and Boise to head over to the MWC with $1.7mil each in the bank

Yep,
wow, going to the game truly added insult to injury, didn't it? How often does it rain down there, TR? :D

Aye, the luck of The Irish prevails again ;)

It thunderstormed on my fucking birthday (September) and we've had a TON of rain in November here... It's been just above 35 at night. Where's the goddamn Santa Anas!!

I will turn in my Orange and Green if THE U hires Mike Leach. Good grief. He should go to Fresno State and replace Pat Hill or a similar move like that.

Harbaugh is going to punch an NFL ticket. His brother is there already. He will cash a monster check from San Fran or Denver, I suspect. Meeechigan is going to have to look elsewhere.

I actually like Tommy Tuberville (or Gene Chizik :thefinger) as Miami HC prospects. I don't see The U running a Mike Leach gimmick offense, but I could be persuaded to see them hire a Spread Option coach and move away from the Pro-style, playaction offense they like to run now and have run forever.

Leach doesn't run a "gimmick" offense. What is gimmicky about it? He's a master and original guru of the classic spread which has proven itself to be a major success with many programs across the nation. His problem is that he never has had a competent defensive coordinator to whom he has given power to counter his emphasis on offense. I think "The Pirate" is a great fit for the 'Canes....a helluva lot better than some retread like Tubervillle (all he did was take Tech from a contender to nowhere) or Chizik (who isn't likely to leave a solid SEC program like Auburn to begin with).

Miami came up way short on offense this past season and a guy like Leach would turn them back into a powerhouse immediately. We have the talent. The defense is already there....we just need someone who knows how to pull the trigger on the other side of the ball. I like Leach as a candidate....a lot more than anyone else who is being mentioned (except for Gruden but, unless 'Mega's info turns out to be true, ain't likely to happen). I know he is considered to be a bit eccentric but that fits perfectly with Miami. Hire Leach, I say!! :glugglug:

Who else thinks TCU might make it to champs? I have a good feeling

I hope they don't. I'll be rooting for the Auburn Newtons and the Ducks just so that TCU gets shut out. Fuck 'em, they're nobody.

A done deal. Way to fuck the MWC right up the pooper. I mean, why wouldn't these sissies just join the Big XII if they wanted to compete for BCS bowls without the need to go undefeated every year???

As Jagger has already stated, the Big XII didn't want them. (In fact if they wanted anybody, I'd imagine it'd be Houston considering the market and Houston's all around athletic profile.) And the Big East is already fucked up geographically, so what's the difference. They have schools in Storrs, CT, Milwaukee, WI, Tampa, FL, and Lousville, KY. More like the Big East/North/South/Central.

They'd probably just find a way to fuck over the schools and not pay them. They're already swindling UNR and FSU for $ 5 million based on a spoken agreement that was never signed.

What makes you think Pat Hill is going anywhere?

I agree, who cares if its 'gimmicky'. It is successful. People say the same about June Jones. But look at what he did at Hawaii, taking them to a BCS Bowl. And now SMU they were absolutely terrible, and now on Saturday they are playing for the Conference USA Championship.

And btw people said the same shit about Urban Meyer and the spread. Two national titles ago.

They have a chance. Small, but at least a chance. It would only seem natural for a porn board to want 'Cocks and Beavers to win so....why not?:1orglaugh

Nice one.

The Big XII already has the Houston tv market that's why they haven't invited the Cougars as well.:2 cents:

:yesyes: The Cougars will never be asked to join the Big 12. Neither will SMU, TCU, Tulsa, etc. To expand, the conference would only consider schools that will add to the TV revenue and none of the aforementioned ones would qualify.

Am I the only one that is elated that Boise State got their ARSE kicked?

Nope, I root against them and TCU every week. If you want to sit at the big boy table, play in a BCS conference. Give credit to the Horned Frogs, they joined the weakest of the bunch. I'm definitely rooting for the Newtons and the Ducks to win this week.

Let's all be friends again, and stop being butt-munchers. mmmk?

Look. Rankings. Intriguing fucking rankings.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/polls

Auburn as #1? wowzers.

auburn is #1...i dont need to look at no rankings..i been watching football alllll year...if auburn beats south carolina (again)...might as well hand them the glass ball and forget about it...if san diego st can score 35 points on your defense i dont care how or why...a good team should score 70...and i know oregon has got a fast offense...but lets face it...they cant play smash mouth football with auburn cam will have a record day with them...when you walk thru the rain all year like auburn has...some thing speaks without words

Does a team that is 0 for their last 26 games against teams that finished in the top 50, had recruiting classes rated 46, 46, out of the top 50 and out of the top 50 the last 4 years really belong in the NC game?

Because that is TCU.
