Maybe Chow wonders why he was not offered the job.

good point.

....ucla has the second best QB in the West on their roster--Richard Brehart.

2nd best in the west? That seems like a monstrous stretch. Have you seen him play at all?

Norm was simply bright enough not to play him and let him flounder like a true freshman always does.

According to Neuhiesel that wasn't why he didn't play. He says Chow lobbied to keep Prince (redshirt freshman) as the starter because he thinks he's the better overall prospect. Rick said he would have preferred to open the competition up some, and sounded like he might have somewhat favored Brehart, but he wound up deferring to Chow.

I heard somewhere on the radio that that Norm Chow really doesn't want to be a head coach. He's been offered numerous HC positions and turned them all down. Norm's an Xs and Os guy, not a palm-presser and a recruiter. I don't blame him....can you imagine what a fuck-fest it is wrestling with other schools for all these prize recruits?

By the way, here's the latest rumor I heard about a possible successor to Kiffin at Tennessee.....STEVE SPURRIER!!!!!

Whattaya think about that, guys? He's mailing it in every year at SC....this might be his last chance to build a serious NC contender.

Back when the Capitol One Bowl was called the Citrus Bowl and before the BCS, the second place teams in the Big 10 and SEC played.

I remember when the ole ball coach said, "You can't spell Citrus whithout UT."

Louisiana Tech football coach Derek Dooley, son of legendary coach Vince Dooley, has emerged as the top candidate to replace Lane Kiffin as Tennessee's football coach, sources close to the situation told ESPN.com on Friday.

I thought Steve Spurrier would have been a better candidate. :dunno:

I think it's fair to assume that Norm was bitter he got passed over at BYU to replace Lavell Edwards. He really tried hard to get the Stanford job in 2005 (?) and when they took a pass on him, I think that was it for him as an HC.

It is strange that Hawai'i never bothered to publicly go after him. Although I don't think Norm would accept a second-tier HC job.

Brehart is a 4star recruit--Prince is a 3star. We'll see what happens this Spring.

DeMarco Murray returns for Oklahoma! :nanner: Next season he'll probably be the healthiest he's been since his freshman year. That's sad considering he'll be a senior next year. Too bad he runs behind a shitty offensive line. :(

Jermie Calhoun is a good RB and will probably be a 1st round pick someday, but the dude fumbles waaaaaayyy too much. At least now we have a reliable runner in Murray.

Why didn't Tennessee take a run at Chris Peterson? I know there was all that "we need an SEC MAN" talk but THAT would've been a great hire for them. :dunno:

The latest issue of Sporting News has its predictions for next year.

Their Top 10:
1) Alabama - Julio Jones will make All America, then leave for the 2011 draft; Alabama will still have one of the top three defenses in the SEC; Mark Ingram will not post the numbers to repeat as the Heisman winner.
Schedule rating: 5/5 - Penn State visits in September, and the SEC rotation also brings in Florida.

2) Oregon - Oregon will rank No. 1 in total offense among BCS teams; Chip Kelly will become the next $4 million/year coach; Oregon will run the table in the Pac-10.
Schedule rating: 2/5 - Ducks visit Tennessee on 9/11 and the Pac-10 schedule sets up well.

3) Ohio State - Ohio State will still have the best defense in the Big Ten; Terrelle Pryor will become a solid passer through the offseason; Ohio State will return to the BCS Championship game...and lose again.
Schedule rating: 3/5 - A win at home against Miami could help Ohio State in the computer polls, as will games against Wisconsin, Iowa, and Penn State.

4) Boise State - The Broncos will beat Virginia Tech in October; Kellen Moore will be invited to NYC as a Heisman finalist; Boise will go undefeated in the WAC.
Schedule rating: 1/5 - Beating Virginia Tech in D.C. and Oregon State at home combined with an undefeated season could put them in the national championship game.

5) Georgia Tech - Josh Nesbitt will improve as a thrower and become the focal point of the offense as well as part of the Heisman trophy conversation; Georgia Tech will win the ACC again, and Paul Johnson will be hired away by an elite BCS school; Georgia Tech will again finish with a better record than Georgia.
Schedule rating: 4/5 - Georgia Tech hasnt separated itself enough from the rest of the ACC to expect upper-tier league games to be gimmies, and nonconference road games against Kansas and Georgia will be tough.

6) Miami - Jacory Harris will play all of 2010 the way he played the first half of 2009; Miami will feature its most complete defense since 2002; An NFL team will pursue Randy Shannon as its next head coach after the 2010season.
Schedule rating: 5/5 - A prove-it year for Randy Shannon includes games against Ohio State and Pitt along with games against the top half of the ACC.

7) Florida - The Gators will throw better than they ever have under Urban Meyer, and QB John Brantley will be first-team All-SEC; Florida will take a step back on defense with key personnel losses and the departure of defensive coordinatior Charlie Strong; If Steve Addazio coaches the Gators in 2010, they will lose three games in the regular season
Schedule rating: 2/5 - The Gators have to travel to Tuscaloosa, but the nonconference schedule will be awful until Florida State truly rebounds.

8) TCU - TCU's defense will rank among the top three in the nation; RB Matthew Tucker and QB Andy Dalton will form the MWC's most dangerous duo; TCU will roll through the Mountain West but fall short of a BCS bowl.
Schedule rating: 1/5 - Schedule was incomplete as of press time. If TCU can nail down a game with Oregon State, it will improve an awful nonconference schedule that includes SMU and Baylor.

9) Nebraska - Cody Green will win the starting QB job from Zac Lee in spring practice; The Huskers will win the Big 12; DT Jared Crick will follow the lead of Ndamukong Suh and become the most dominant player in the Big 12.
Schedule rating: 1/5 - Texas visits Lincoln and Oklahoma is off the schedule. Their toughest nonconference test is a trip to Washington.

10) Wisconsin - The Badgers will make power football cool again; QB Scott Tolzien will be the nation's bestt game manager; Chris Borlan is the Big Ten's next star linebacker.
Schedule rating: 2/5 - Bret Bielema's best team yet gets UNLV, San Jose State, Arizona State and Austin Peay in nonconference play and a Big Ten schedule with no game against Penn State.

Bama could not keep up with Bosie's high power offensive.

they dont need 2 BAMA #1.....its over get over it..you know i have been hearing the boise st bunch cry for years now..and to me they have yet to beat a proven team. tcu was a fluke, they beat nobody with any high ranks this year , how good they really was, was a mystery all year, sure they looked good on paper..but which team did they beat that was really a step up?i think cinn and tcu...and florida and boise st..would have been better matchups..and florida would have showed boise st what the big dance is about just like they did little cinn. i dont think they could beat florida let alone bama rollllllllllllllllll tideeeeeee rolllllllll:wave2:

i have no reason for saying this, but i think its just a wait game at tenn..till peyton manning gets ready to quit the nfl...no reason, just a gut feelin??

I hate to say it but it sounds like Urban Meyer was just jealous over all the hype Tim Tebow was getting and "went Diva" with this whole "I gotta leave Florida for my health" bullshit.

He's not even taking any time off... He's already back at work and he wasn't supposed to come back until after Spring practice....

Yikes, Coach.

Speilman had some recruiting experts on his show the other day. They were saying that Florida has gone into L.A. Pillaged recruits from USC in the last couple weeks.
