Jimbo's cleaning house. That's a good hire I think.

In other news, the Big 11 is looking to aggressively add a 12th team.....
story here

Who do you think the Big 11 should go after? Will they still call themselves the Big 10 :rolleyes? I think they'll need to come up with a new name....How about..

--The Sunless Conference?
--The Big and Slow Conference?
--The Middle 12 Conference?
--The Prairie Jane Conference?
Anybody got any other ideas?
:thefinger

I think Pitt or Iowa State or Cincy make the most sense for the Big 10 to go after. Though I'm taking some shots at the Big 10, I think they are doing the right thing and they aren't afraid to make changes in order to make themselves stronger. Kudos to the Big 10

I really can't see Pitt jumping to the Big 10, but I would not mind seeing a Pitt Penn State game again.

Notre Dame :dunno:It would not hurt I'm just saying:dunno:

I always thought the Big 12 should get rid of Iowa State and add TCU. Iowa State should be with their state rivals.

Actually that would make a lot of sense.

Big 10/11/12 divisions.

East

Penn St.
Ohio St.
Michigan
Michigan St.
Indiana
Purdue

West

Illinois
Northwestern
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Iowa
Iowa St.

^
That doesn't work. The East is too difficult. All the perennial Big 10 powers are in the same bracket. :nono:

I would go with--
The Frozen
Michigan
Michigan St
Wisc
Minnesota
Purdue
Indiana

The Tundra
Ohio State
Cincy (Pitt)(Iowa State)
Penn State
Iowa
Northwestern
Illinois

This is a very fair and balanced bracket arrangement....
Each team plays the 5 bracket opponents, 3 cross-bracket opponents, and 4 nonconference games....

OSU and Michigan need to be in the same division.

I would say no, they don't. They can still play each other every year (cross-bracket matchup) but it would be better for the rivalry if those two could meet up in the Championship with GLORY on the line...It would also help the loser of that game solidify a BCS alternate selection...:2 cents:

I actually want the Big 10 to do this...to go to 12 teams because it will make the Pac10 respond and the Pac10 is in danger of falling behind the Big 12, SEC and now the Big 10...

The Big 10 should rename themselves the Big MAC.

If they do expand to 12...they will rename. Probably the Heartland Conference?

Or maybe the Northern Elite Conference? The Heartland Elite Conference?

It will be something without "12" in it I suspect...

I like this idea.

Who would you throw in the Pac10/12? BYU/Boise?

I'm not much for a re-match between OSU and Michigan.

At least with your PAC 10 they play everybody in the conference. In the Big 10, we only play 8 conference games, so there are 3 teams that you don't play each year.

Maybe the Big 10 could go back to being the Western Conference. It was fairly recent that they officially became the Big 10. "Big 10" was always just a nickname until recently. circa 1987

Bama is ranked 27th in TOTAL offense this season. Wow thats some high scoring offense there.

When you consider all the gaudy offensive numbers put up by teams in conferences that play little to no defense these days, 27th in the nation is pretty good, esp in the SEC. ;)

And today, GO NAVY! :glugglug:

Expansion will get the Pac10 off of FUCKING FOX which hurts the Conference's visibility. We need to be on ESPN (and ABC of course) more than we are for the 24/7 ESPN Hype machine. A sport residing on Fox Cable might as well reside in a vacuum.

Who's to say that OSU or Michigan will make it to the title game every year? It's dumb to split Michigan from Michigan State and putting OSU and Michigan in the same section limits "money making." Look at the ACC. There's a reason why The U and FSU are in split sections....they still play each other every year and they have yet to meet up in the Championship even...

There is nothing Western about the Big10. It could simply go with the Midwestern Conference if they want Geography.

The Pac10 should look at poaching Colorado and inviting: BYU, SDSU, Boise State, Colorado State, or Hawai'i. BYU and Hawai'i are strong in more sports than just football. Boise State, Colorado State and SDSU really are just football only schools.

I could see Pitt moving into the Big 10, but i don't see the Big 10 asking. they would have asked Cinncy if Kelly was sticking around.

Go Army, Beat Navy.
