The One and Only Big Daddy
smoknn is it possible that there are two reasons that Bama didn't give up many points this year--1) they feasted on a bunch of cupcakes (6 games on Bama's schedule would be won by every top 25 team) and 2) Most SEC teams play shitty offense?

Most people who follow college football closely don't consider the Big12 a defensive conference--it's kinda gained the reputation for being the most high-scoring conference. Who else but Nebraska, Okie and Texas play defense in the Big 12?

Or maybe you don't know any of this? :dunno:

Hey I'm glad you are still on line whatthe Hell is going down in Cincy those kids seem pretty upset I only caught part of the interview but one of the players was wearing his emotions on his shoulders in which you can't blame him but here is an article I want you to read maybe you can get a better understanding I mean it is crazy

Here are the 2009 Offense ranking
http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/sortab...able=overall&stat=overallPtsGm&dir=descending

Notice that the SEC teams Bama played were ranked
Arkansas 8th
Flordia 13th
Auburn 20th
Tenn 32nd
Mississippi 36th
Kentucky 63rd
Miss State 72nd
LSU 74th
South Carolina 94th

Hell my Pitt panthers were ranked higher than 8 of the schools and Bama is ranked 27th in Offense. easy to not have teams put up huge points on you when thoese teams don't have the firepower to do it.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt09.htm

Take a look at the records of the top 10 vs. other top 10 and top 30 opponents. Not even close in the Sagarin ratings.

Bama is 3-0 vs Top 10, 7-0 vs Top 30.
Texas hasn't played a top 10 team at all and is 2-0 vs. Top 30.

While I don't put a lot of stock in computer models, this data does pretty clearly show that of the teams in the Top 5, Bama has almost as many win vs. Top 30 ranks teams (7) as the rest of the undefeated teams COMBINED (8).

And for the record, offense may sell tickets, but defense wins championships.

Yet texas gave up 39 points and they ARE playing for the NC. so whats your point? Does it really matter how many points you give up? No all that really matter is WINS and when it comes down to the final game of the season and there are schools that have zero wins, they should be playing each other till there is ONE that remains. I hated the BCS for years, its a bullshit system.

texas gave up 39 points to a&m, not u con or la tech, and texas was #2 and still won...again i still say you give up 40 points you got no buisness there. if they give up 40 against bama...IF being key word you will see MY point last time i checked bama was giving up like 10 points a game. 13 to #1 team in the nation i dont think we hurt that avg to bad

It comments like that. That makes me go:confused:No theam that gives up 35 and 45 points should have nothing to do with the National Champion:confused:Why:dunno:

words of THE BEAR.....offence wins games...defence wins national championships ;)

shitty offence :rofl2: the sec has got the NC for the last 3 years maybe 4 if bama brings it home this year looks to me like someone better learn defence thats strange...before bama played florida , a lot of people sure was proud of that offence. maybe you dont know this.. but the sec had 2 guys in the race for the heisman 1 qb 1 rb but no offence?? in case you didnt notice we scored 32 points on the # 1 team in the nation only giving up 13 no offence my ass

texas after getting a royal fucking by okl last year

What the hell did Oklahoma do to Texas last year?

I thought we did them a favor by giving them the opportunity to control their own destiny? But that's probably just my OU bias:dunno:

Alabama could barely beat Auburn, who has one of the worst defenses. You don't seem to discredit Alabama for that performance.

It's a little funny you keep talking about the Heisman, because earlier you kept saying it makes you a "one man team". So if Ingram wins, doesn't that make Bama a "one man team"?

Every champion team will have that game whwere they play like shit or give up more points than they want to and still win you should know that.

Very true. Texas is a VERY good team and to discredit them for a close game against NU is not logical. However, Texas did struggle in the only two games they played this season against quality defenses, that's more of a concern if you want UT to win the game. Bama didn't always look like an offensive powerhouse this season, but they also played 6 teams in the top 30 in total D and scoring D.

http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/natlRank.jsp

The bigger question to me how well UT's very good defense will be able to handle the Bama offense... Contrary to some people, I think this one will be close and fairly low scoring.

Redzone defense is a stat that sticks out to me... Bama is #2 in the nation, Texas is #44.

I am considering using this as my new siggy. It's almost as awesome as Knob Cheese

I like how you refer to the SEC as if it's one giant unstoppable force that wins everything and makes everyone else *quiver* and cry :weeping:

smoknn the problem is that you seem to think Bama's TDs and Points scored this season must count Double because of something like Bama's overall greatness outshines everybody else....

Sadly, if you crawl outside of your Bama cave and look at some statistics..the SEC don't look too good, son. :weeping: I know, I know, how can it be? How can teams from non-SEC conferences surpass Bama?? I know, I know...but it happens. Every year, too.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/statistics/team/_/stat/total/sort/totalPointsPerGame

(Don't sort the passing statistics on that link smokkn...things get REALLY UGLY for the SEC)

smoknn when Bama puts up 2 guys from the same team as Heisman favorites in the same season, let me know. The Big 12, the Big 10, the Pac10 all have had multiple players from their conference vie for the Heisman. It's really not that big a deal. Maybe it is to you...:dunno:

Maybe you don't know this...but it's usually offensive players from like Top 5 teams that get nominated for the Heisman, whether or not they actually set records or whatever...:dunno: Maybe you don't know this but the Heisman is a popularity contest, first and foremost....above all else.
